The Ordinary - so good it's scary

I'm sure I'm well behind the curve but I bought some products finally and last night used the retionoid stuff for the first time. My word I can see a difference today already!!! In sll seriousness: clearer brighter skin.
Disclaimer I've not spent much on skincare for at least a decade as I felt I couldn't afford anything properly decent. So just oil cleansing. Very basic products so maybe my baseline is really low. But I've never seen a difference like this before. Amazed.

Is it really so good at those prices? I’m always in the market for some new skincare. Is there anywhere I can buy it in a shop?

artisancraftbeer · 30/10/2017 14:05

I love it. I've got very dry and dehydrated skin with reddish patches (not rosacea). I use buffet in the morning followed by rosehip oil and hyaluronic acid in the evening. Its really evened up skin tone and sort of fattened up forehead frown lines so they're less visible.

BagelGoesWalking · 30/10/2017 17:23

EnglishGirl Here's a list of shops worldwide. You can also email using the contact "Ask a product or regimen related question" button to ask for a suggested regime.

grannysmiff · 30/10/2017 17:37

@Snagz

Morning:
Lactic acid
Buffet
Hyaluronic acid
Eucerin moisturiser

Evening:
Remove makeup with roche posay
Buffet
Advanced Retinoid 2%

So basically 4 products!

EnglishGirlApproximately · 30/10/2017 17:51

Perfect thanks bagel, at those prices I’m hoping it’s as good as it sounds!

HunterThompsonspen · 30/10/2017 18:01

I was all excited after reading this thread until I read the product description.

Not to be used by pregnant or breastfeeding women, makes you more sensitive to UV light, wtf is in it?! Surely it can't be good for long term use, can it?

grannysmiff · 30/10/2017 18:04

@HunterThompsonspen

It thins off the upper.layer the epidermis, it just means you need to use SPF which you should be doing anyway.

Tilikum · 30/10/2017 18:45

Which La Roche Posay do you use to take your make up off granny ? I've been using their Toleraine cleanser but I don't think it's very good at getting make up off, only for cleansing skin. I need to know because I'm going to buy everything on your list! Wink

Snagz · 30/10/2017 18:50

Thanks granny, I’m on nearly exactly the same regime just the moisturising factors instead of the eurecin so fingers crossed!

grannysmiff · 30/10/2017 18:59

@Tilikum and @Snagz

Please let me know how you get on, ita8so frustrating trying endless products to find something that works and I'm so glad I hit on this. I'm 30 and have been pissing around with different things for a decade now.

Here's the RP cleanser I use: www.laroche-posay.com/products-treatments/Physiological-cleansers/MAKE-UP-REMOVER-MICELLAR-WATER-GEL-SENSITIVE-SKIN-p16167.aspx

I wet my face and massage in a generous amount and then rinse off. Repeat if I feel I need to. Even other RP cleansers made my face feel tight. This is the only one that doesnt.

And here's the moisturiser I use:
int.eucerin.com/products/urea/smoothing-face-cream-5percent-urea

This is a fantastic moisturiser. Very very rich yet zero cystic acne. No fragrance!

I also use RP suncream on face!

grannysmiff · 30/10/2017 18:59

FYI I've followed this regime for 6 months now so it's here to stay

grannysmiff · 30/10/2017 19:06

@Tilikum
You may find that your face feels sticky after all that layering in the morning. I finish off as described above with my Eucerin moisturiser, and after about 10 minutes I then splash water on my face to get rid of all the residue from all the different products. I pat my face a little drier but keep it damp and apply my sunscreen which is mattifying so doubles as a primer. I apply it to damp skin so it gets absorbed with no white cast:

Snagz · 30/10/2017 19:59

This is great. Thanks so much granny!

Whatshouldmyusernamebe · 30/10/2017 22:41

Sorry not rtft but can someone post a link to these products?

AdoraBell · 30/10/2017 22:44

Never tried any of their products. Only seen it referred to on here. I may be willing to give it a go. I’m

BagelGoesWalking · 30/10/2017 23:46

Click on the link links on this page to read more info on the products. Some are very strong and need caution, like Retinoids, Alpha Lipoic Acid etc.

A good start is Buffet (or SubQ in the more expensive Hylamide range) for general anti ageing and beneficial peptides.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 31/10/2017 07:59

bagel is my guru Smile

armaghda · 31/10/2017 09:18

Bejazzled · 31/10/2017 10:09

BagelGoesWalking · 31/10/2017 15:04

LOL 😊 the FB group is a really good place for all things The Ordinary/Deciem. m.facebook.com/groups/1152773461498024

Some very informed people on there (not talking about me, I just seem to have grasped the basics). It worries me when people want to chuck 20 products on their face at once, including all the acids!
