The Ordinary - so good it's scary

I'm sure I'm well behind the curve but I bought some products finally and last night used the retionoid stuff for the first time. My word I can see a difference today already!!! In sll seriousness: clearer brighter skin.
Disclaimer I've not spent much on skincare for at least a decade as I felt I couldn't afford anything properly decent. So just oil cleansing. Very basic products so maybe my baseline is really low. But I've never seen a difference like this before. Amazed.

would this stuff help with teenager spots and break outs?

what on earth would I buy?

I have ds's and anymore than a quick 2 second routine is beyond them

La Roche Posay Effaclar range is really good ssd. They do a set of the three products you need, so not complicated to pick products. It's here: Effaclar set

My skin is pretty normal, slightly dry but no spots. I have been underwhelmed by this - no real difference to wrinkles or skin condition.

noeuf

I dont know about the wrinkles yet as i only started in October

It must differ from person to person as well

As i dont get on with some of the things that seem to work beautifully for my friends

Yes, that’s not a surprise - I was just adding my experience as it doesn’t resonate with all the success stories

I love it! It's really cleared my skin up. I'm using the salicylic acid and Niacinimide plus plant squalene. I've just ordered the buffet and 5% lactic acid.

ssd- definitely try Effaclar for the teenage spots. It has changed dd's life. Literally.

I'm probably a lone voice about The Ordinary but I did the sheep thing earlier this year when there was thread after thread about the products and duly bought: Buffet serum, hyaluronic acid serum, Vit C serum, advanced retinoid doodah and the photo effects primer.

I always do a thorough skincare routine and rotate my serums, cleansers and moisturisers- I think what I don't like about the Ordinary is the texture. Gloppy slimy serum (or, in the case of the Vit C granular gritty serum) I'll carry on till they're finished, but doubt I'll repurchase.

I've got rosehip oil, buffet, niaciniamide, vitamin c, vitamin f in squalene, natural moisturising factors, a retinoid serum and azelaic acid. (Slightly horrified at how many products I've got now!) I hated the vitamin c and don't bother using it now, it's all grainy and doesn't sink in to my skin even after hours. The vitamin f is a mild form of vit c and I love it, the texture is nice (like a light oil), it sinks in quickly and means I hardly need any moisturiser. I also love the niaciniamide, the natural moisturising factors and the retinoid (I've got the mildest one) - all actually made a visible difference to my skin. Buffet I'm meh about, I hated it to start with but it seems to work better with the retinoid. I wouldn't repurchase it though. The rosehip seems nice enough but I'm not sure I need an oil, it doesn't seem to be making much difference. I've given up using the azelaic as it kept balling up under my sunscreen and annoyed me, and I couldn't tell if it was doing anything. I've repurchased the NMF, but the rest have lasted forever - I've had the niaciniamide and rosehip since about January and neither have run out yet as I just use a tiny amount.

I’ve just started using a few products, and I’m a bit meh about them so far. To be fair, it has only been 5 days, so obviously I’ll give them a fair trial.

But my face feels a bit tight and yet icky, and it feels like if I were to rub it, I would find product balling off on my fingers.

Plus all the bottles with droppers are a bit of a faff, tbh. Give me a squeeze tube any day.

I’m disappointed so far, as I thought I was going to be blown away, and at a bargain price too - but I’m just not feeing it at the moment.

Had my second night with the retionoid cream and while it's not such a clear difference as the first time I used it, my skin does look good. My dh said 'oh it's nice you're sleeping well' assuming that's why I look fresher. I just Grin

The reason the ordinary is so good is that they don't overcharge and perfume their products. The formalisations are pretty simple.
Look at Chanel and any other L'Oréal brand and they have exactly the same ingredients as each other.
The ordinary might be hit and miss but they aren't conning anyone.

It took about 6 weeks of am/pm usage for me to really get the benefit from the niacinamide....

Have just started with four things today, the buffet, niamacide, moisturising factors and something else, face feels all tingly and kind of instense!

MaryLennox. A lot of ppl mention that it’s impossible to use Azelaic Acid in the AM because of the pilling so just use at night, just not on nights with Retinoids.

The Ordinary has completely changed my skin. It used to be red, cystic acne, AND dehydrated. Its now clear, smooth and redness gone. I'm in love.

I love it! It has totally changed my skin. At the beginning of this year I was really down about my skin. I had spotty cheeks, hormonal spots along my jawline and chin, it was dry in places but oily in others. I now use the buffet, niacinamide + zinc, and hyaluronic acid twice a day and the change has been huge. I still do wear foundation, but i think I could get away without it now. I'm going to order some retinioid in my next order too.
