Oh Cantchoose... I have seen Caroline Hirons bitching a lot about the acne treatments and how they make things worse not better. Could it be a case? There was a Youtube video in 2017 with her and Trinny about acne, you might have seen it already and tried everything they suggested, but thought I would mention it anyway. Apparently, Trinny has been suffering with acne for many years. Might be something useful? I don't remember much what the advice was since I have never had spots, not even in teenage years, I have to keep an eye on my skin not to go dry instead.

CantChoose · 03/01/2018 15:45

Thanks strawberry. I've realised my post sounded more negative than I thought!!
I've tried pretty much everything including stopping acne treatments altogether. Nothing has really worked except the roaccutaine and the dianette contraception. Neither of which are very helpful when TTC! I'll probably ask to go back on roaccutaine but the derm service where I live is woefully understaffed. If I go back in it eventually I will probably go private but it's not cheap!! It's not too bad at present in fairness. I'll check out the thing you mentioned though - you never know!

ememem84 · 03/01/2018 15:59

@cantchoose I see you’re ttc. When I got preg with ds I had the best skin I ever ever had.

CantChoose · 03/01/2018 16:17

Here's hoping, emem! Lots of my friends have said their skin changed during and after pregnancy too so I guess I'll just have to wait and see!

DragonNoodleCake · 03/01/2018 19:41

Off for a curry with my girlfriends, thought I'd channel frugal with a killer red lip!! Everybody pout!!

Ooh Dragon you look fab!

I had lovely skin until I had my second baby (I put it down to the hormones of having a girl after a boy), and I also had a lovely figure until I had my third! Confused

Cupoteap · 04/01/2018 07:03

Ok so started to use the following samples:
Clinique pep-start eye cream
Clinique smart custom repair serum
Ren global protection day cream

Also found another Filorga time filler so using that but I loved this before so no hardship.

Have started a little bag for the stuff I'm using up - just like the basket idea someone mentioned - once I have room for a basket I'll swap over to that!

kwick · 04/01/2018 07:55

@FrustratedFrugal all is forgiven when you look this amazing! You MUST share your skin secrets!

@Strawberryfield12 you hit the nail on the head! By that I mean if coconut oil works just as well as the Emma Hardie Moringa cleansing balm why would you use the more expensive product? This is what I am dedicating my life (and skin) to trying to establish😬

@DragonNoodleCake 😍

First day back at work today and I am still full of lurgy 😔 I have, despite this, applied a full face of make-up.

Hey,

Does anyone use Clarins cleanser and toner? I'm trying to decide whether to keep these and use them or try and sell them on.

I've been using elemis cleanser and toner for two years now and my skin has been good and I've probably got over a years supply of elemis still to use.

Happy New Year everyone!

I managed to use up about a product a week last year and am going to record the purchases as well as the empties this year. I learned last year that I use up lipstick and moisturisers, but not much else.

I've finished an eye shadow that was part of a duo and also a tub of handwash this week. I'm going to refill the handwash with bubble bath as I only ever have showers and have loads of bubble bath I have been given. Slightly annoyed with myself that I have managed to lose the Ren primer that came with the M&S calendar. I was a little behind and opened it on Xmas day and I suspect it has been caught up with some wrapping paper and thrown in the bin by accident. Shame as I was looking forward to using it.

My resolution for this year is to wear more make up. My skin isn't great and I could look a lot better than I do. Should also help with using up products.

FrustratedFrugal · 04/01/2018 15:26

Dragon loving your dark red lipstick - you are really rocking winter reds!

Kwick hoping that your allergies calm down soon.

I've been good today, have stayed away from temptations and focused on eating Italian winter goodies - my waistline is expanding but it's so hard to resist.

No empties yet but going to use up a couple of travel sizes during this trip.

Strawberryfield12 · 04/01/2018 19:31

@kwick every time I use body shop cleansing balm, I keep thinking that it’s just a coconut oil in a metal tin Grin

kwick · 04/01/2018 20:17

@Strawberryfield12 well at least that is at a similar price to real coconut oil.... not like the Emma Hardie balm!

@FrustratedFrugal it is a cold... hist keeps on giving 😷🤒🤧

I have an empty!!!

  • The Ordinary Natural Moisturising Factors & HA 30ml: very meh... no nice smell, not that great under make-up.... very, well, ordinary 😬

kwick · 05/01/2018 07:47

@applesandpears33 happy to send you my Ren instant thing if you want to try? It is unopened Grin

ememem84 · 05/01/2018 09:50

Empty! Clarins gentle flaming cleanser. 30ml. This isn’t my usual one but was probably nicer on my skin. I’m pretty sure I have a full sized one in the stash to use up.

ememem84 · 05/01/2018 09:50

*foaming. Foaming cleanser. Not flaming. That wouldn’t be gentle....

ShoopShoop · 05/01/2018 11:14

Teeny tiny Jo Malone perfume (3ml / 5ml??) used up today - Peony Blush.

Loved it. Have about 8 full sized perfumes to use up though (none of which are Peony Blush sadly, and not all Jo Malone) so am resisting the temptation to buy more.

comeagainforbigfudge · 05/01/2018 11:31

Used up a few things AT LAST.
Really like the natural deodorant. Will try to source that when my other two are finished.
The primark face mask, well I'm not sure what it did so won't try that again.

Also finished a neals yard bee lovely hand cream. Which was sooooo lovely but not to be repurchased until all my many many tubes of hand cream are used up Grin

New balmi lip balm broke out already. I'm not overly sure about this one. It's a bit more "waxy" than previous one but I will persevere regardless.

Emma hardie cleanser
M&s ultimate sleep cream
Gatineau face cream
Ameliorate body lotion
Body shop body butter
Lancome youth activating concentrate
Loreal hairspray
Lavera all round cream
Instant moisture glow ysl
Balmi lip balm
Pur correcting primer
Front row High gloss serum (hair)
Lancome face cream
Native unearthed natural deodorant
La vie est belle
Glam glow face mask
Garnier face mask
Primark face mask

kwick · 06/01/2018 08:59

So yesterday I did dry shampoo again but it did not work as well as the first time. I think it really depends on what I use to shampoo and condition on day 1, as to whether day 2 lets the Philip Kingsley thing work... flipping complicated!!!

Not much progress happening here at the moment. My skin has been really itchy so I'm using Fresh Farmacy and Aveeno and nothing else.

I popped into Waitrose the other day (for some Amie face wash for DD) and in the Pure range they've got an exfoliating powder so I got one to try.

Hope no one's got the January blues yet!

woodhill · 06/01/2018 10:17

Cleansing balm.empty

kwick · 06/01/2018 12:30

I have two empties!

  • Nivea Soft hand cream 25ml: really nice, perfect size for handbag
  • Korres Wild Rose advanced repair sleeping facial 16ml: smells the same as the peel, which I really like. Not as good as the M&S one.

applesandpears33 · 06/01/2018 14:04

Kwick - thank you, I'd love to try it. I'm in the middle of putting away the Christmas decorations and hoping it'll turn up as I last saw it on the coffee table. I'll get back to you tonight to let you know if it has turned up or not.

First empty of the year - Ren instant shot (from the last time M&S had a beauty offer, not the advent calendar)

comeagainforbigfudge · 06/01/2018 16:52

Finished a mini sample of la vie est belle. Twas ok. Dont think id buy the full bottle though.

4/18 done 😁

kwick · 06/01/2018 20:45

I have another empty!

  • This Works deep sleep pillow spray: really liked this and I think it did definitely relax
