@Choccogoingcuckoo welcome! You are amongst friends!
Have you tried The Ordinary foundation - very inexpensive and good colour range.

Ladies just to report: I used Philip Kingsley One More Day dry shampoo this morning - and it did NOT make my hair greasier!!! I REALLY hope I have found one that works for me (it smells nice too!).

Choccogoingcuckoo · 01/01/2018 20:49

I've not tried that but have read about it and thought I would definitely try it but being menopausal I forgot Grin

ShoopShoop · 02/01/2018 07:11

Morning - would it be ok to join please?

After Christmas I realised I have an obscene amount of skin and body care stuff. Literally drawers and drawers of the stuff.

I really need to be more conscious of what I'm buying.....I.e. nothing!! But I also want to understand what stuff my skin likes and doesn't like. My dream is to one day have one of each item that's really lovely and does nice things to my skin. At the moment I have about 5 different kinds of each product 😱.

Since Boxing Day I have used up:

Bag of Himalayan bath salts
6 sachets of various Montage Jeunesse (or whatever it's called)
Sample sachet of Jo Malone lime and basil body cream
Chanel mascara that was going crusty

kwick · 02/01/2018 11:01

I had thought I could try 2 days on the trot of dry shampoo but the oil slick I woke up to put paid to that!

I have an empty:
-Filorga Meso-Mask 15ml: subtle but nice smell... um not sure what this does?

Welcome @ShoopShoop !!!
Your dream is my dream - to only use Holy Grail products... but so far I have only identified one or two...

To keep last years or older suncreams?

Sorting out my toiletries so I know what I've got. I remember reading somewhere that the protection does have an expiry date?

ememem84 · 02/01/2018 15:15

chocco I’m never sure about sunscreen. I think it does expire but not sure.

Choccogoingcuckoo · 02/01/2018 15:27

I kept the stuff I bought last year and binned the rest. A Google search said the spf should be active for up to 3 years, I burn so easily I didn't want to take the risk.

trigger2 · 02/01/2018 16:13

Two more here -
Avene Gentle Cleansing lotion
Herbal Essences White strawberry conditioner

I'm now onto Avene Toleraine cleanser, I love them both.
I wouldn't buy the HE conditioner again.

FrustratedFrugal · 02/01/2018 18:34

Holidaying in Rome. Can you tell that I have been to Kiko?🙄 I've started seeing matte fuchsia lipstick on people and here's my take.

Love it frugal!
I've not done a lippy selfie in ages!

IPokeBadgers · 02/01/2018 19:48

Looks good Frugal!

ShoopShoop · 02/01/2018 21:19

Looks lovely Frugal!

Used a Korean sheet mask tonight - skin feels lovely.

Also used up a little bottle of L'Occitane shampoo. Not the best for my ridiculously thick and wiry hair but not a disaster either.

mintmagnummm · 02/01/2018 21:36

Chocco any spf that has been opened needs to be replaced after 1 year.

Strawberryfield12 · 02/01/2018 21:57

Very nice frugal!

kwick I think the person who invents dry shampoo one can use two consecutive days without looking homeless, will be up for Nobel prize. Wink

ProseccoMamam · 02/01/2018 22:33

Used a travel sized head and shoulders up from a holiday we had YEARS ago. Currently have 4 and a half bottles of shampoo waiting to be used and once they're gone I will be treating myself to a nice expensive one as a prize for using up all my old crappy onesSmile

ememem84 · 02/01/2018 22:37

kwick dry shampoo is my friend now I’m on mat leave. I’d started “baby training” my hair a while ago though.

I can go 4 days no washing. Day 1 - wash condition Aegean oil blow dry and wear down. 2 - brush and wear half up down. Day 3 - dry shampoo pony tail. Day 4 - liberal spraying full can of dry shampoo messy bun

Currently using tresseme smells good does the job.

curragh · 02/01/2018 22:40

4 more products gone Smile
84. Bobbi brown moisture rich foundation. Haven't used in ages and it had split. If I'm honest I never liked it, felt very oily and like it sat on top of my skin
85. Bare Minerals mascara. Not a favourite
86. Collection under eye illuminator. Cheap as chips and not bad
87. Bobbi brown concealer. Was ok, used to collect in my undereye wrinkles

Choccogoingcuckoo · 02/01/2018 23:44

I gathered toiletries from drawers etc and this is what I had Shock Confused. This does not include the products I'm using daily already in the bathroom.

I reckon the only thing I'll have to top up on for the rest of 2018 will be toothpaste and probably deodorant nearer the end of the year! Cleanser and toner will see me through to 2020!!

Will have to spend some time sorting through make up but that's for another day.

Three empties here, one BS ginger shampoo and a dry shampoo both replaced from the stash, plus one other that I can't remember! Oh wait, yes I can, it was a tub of conditioner that DD used (and is the best thing we've ever used on her thick, curly long hair) it was a tousled something or other mask by herbal essences. Found in a pound shop, got three tubs and never seen it since! But at least it's another container out of the shower.

Love the lippy frugal

kwick · 03/01/2018 07:36

You look fabulous!

@Strawberryfield12 😂😂😂😂

@ememem84 I aspire to be you!

Is it wrong that I covet your stash @Choccogoingcuckoo ?

chocco I keep sunscreen for a year then relegate it to the drawer for using on mildly sunny days in the uk. I don't burn easily though. Anything more than three years old is binned.

I've finished a sample smash box primer for oily skin. Not sure it's any better at shine control than my usual 'light' one though. It was a teeny sample tube but lasted me at least a month as you need so little. I've realised I have loads of mini primers so I'm not opening my full size for a bit.

So funny that the filorga mask doesn't do anything for you, kwick! I very, very rarely see any noticible difference with any products really but that one was a notable exception for me!

kwick · 03/01/2018 08:32

@CantChoose but what did it do? Softer skin? Cleared spots? Hydrated?

I used last but yesterday morning and by the pm I had a spot - not sure if related...

OP posts:
Strawberryfield12 · 03/01/2018 09:08

Kwick&Cantchoose completely agree that with the most of the products I can't see what exactly it did. Could it be down to having the skin in decent condition? So there is no big issue for the products to tackle? So using them goes towards the maintenance? If not this than, I am afraid, none of the products really work, we could be just as could slathering olive oil on the face...
The only product I really saw the difference from using it just once were the golden ceramide capsules. Got ten of them in a beauty box, put one on in the morning and spent the rest of the day checking myself in the mirror and marveling, how I suddenly look much younger. It was a year ago and I should really go online and buy a full size of them, but seem to get distracted with other products constantly.

FrustratedFrugal · 03/01/2018 09:11

Sending everyone hearty Roman kisses. We have actually just picked up a rental car and are heading north for a few days.

Sorry about spamming the thread with lipstick selfies but may I introduce Kiko purchases #2 & #3, blusher and lipstick Stylo Fall 2.0. Glossy lips are back in, loving the drama of black cherries on ice #badpoetry

Who needs Nars when you've got Kiko 😍

CantChoose · 03/01/2018 10:02

strawberryfield sadly I think it's the opposite issue for me, my skin is so bad it's irredeemable! I have acne despite being 30 which only clears with roaccutane but comes back a couple on months later. Currently off treatment as TTC. All the topical acne treatments have made it dry and sensitive, but still spotty Hmm. Joys. I do have basically no wrinkles and look about 23 so that will be welcome once I'm older I suppose.

The filorga mask made my cheeks soft and velvety with a lovely, calm and even texture. Don't think it did much for the spots but didn't make them worse which is a bonus!
