Kwick - it hasn't turned up. I'm assuming someone put wrapping paper down on top of it and it has been thrown out in error. I'll send a pm to you.

Feeling huge post Christmas clear out coming on. Did main bathroom and managed to use up last dregs of 2 shower gels and conditioner! Such a good feeling isn’t it?
As for list, still 1 xmas thing to go but it’s fake tan and really not taking off clothes long enough to notice if I’m tanned or not!

Soap stash is reducing hoorah! But many many old body sprays that are meh but still hanging around!

Alloftheboys · 07/01/2018 16:46

Hello! Lurked in this thread for ages but never posted.
I'm working my way through various full size and sample/trial sized goodies.
Which do you prefer to do? Is it more satisfying to get rid of a big bottle of something or do you prefer to finish a number of small things?

Also meet my new friend that I though some of you may find useful.
He's a toothpaste squeezer from Dunelm Mill. 50p from the kids bathroom section!
When he's done on the toothpaste I'm going to steal him to use on my face cream.

Pinkie - if you like but don't love the body sprays and have other products you would rather be using, use up the body sprays as room sprays....I have done this with a couple of bottles of perfume that no longer sat right on me.

Cupoteap · 07/01/2018 18:41

Received some bathbombs for xmas so going to start a Sunday night bath night with face mask to use up some stuff.

ShoopShoop · 07/01/2018 20:27

2 more empties - one full size Poison perfume and full size Nip and Tuck box of cleansing pads. 👍🏻

Everyonelovessparkles · 07/01/2018 21:35

alloftheboys lurking on this thread has also encouraged me to tackle my ever growing pile of toiletries. I’m not too bad at buying stuff for myself but I’ve got loads of samples and travel size products. I’m finding it more satisfying to use up the small ones first, as you can see the pile getting smaller and it feels like you are making progress.

I’m also making sure I moisturise after my shower, am treating myself to a face mask a couple of times a week and moisturising my feet before I go to bed. This not only makes me feel nice but is also helping to make a dint in my product collection. Smile

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 08/01/2018 09:34

That’s a good idea badgers although realised I packed away xmas room sprays for another year and still not finished. Must be 10 years old!
Def go small size first boys. Much more sense of achievement I think!
I’ve binned a never ending handcream from 2016 rituals calendar and have moved a molten brown one to car. Given to me as baby gift and baby starts school this year! Also finished 2 Christmas candles which gives a ridiculously high sense of achievement and may have to bin another that has tendency to flame on the outside packaging and drip wax everywhere. Quite a dangerous thing really! Still have 3 candles in stash after gifts and I’m sure I can find more in house if pressed. Blush

Alloftheboys · 08/01/2018 12:31

I've managed to get rid of a few small things so I agree it's satisfying to "tick more off the list".
However there's a bottle of spray body lotion that keeps looking at me! I've been trying to use it up but because it's a metal can? I can't tell how much is left.

Are your partners supportive in using up stuff? At one point recently my OH had 5 different shower gels in use. He's also got about 10 half used beard waxes/shaving balm/ man smelly things.

ememem84 · 08/01/2018 15:09

Used up my soap today. Hooray. This was in a “yummy Mummy” type gift set. Lavender and camomile soap. Was quite nice. May switch back to bar soap as it’s possibly more eco friendly but have a veritable mountain of shower gel to use first.

Iceland22 · 08/01/2018 22:21

I need to join you! I separated my goodies out into cleaners / masks / moisturiser etc and have too much. I have a habit of keeping things for special occasions that never arrive.

comeagainforbigfudge · 09/01/2018 10:32

Gatineau face cream done. I eeked it out for as long as I could. Even cut it open but it's finally over cries inside

Finished a toothpaste as well. Plus a bar of soap that's reached the skittery, not worth using anymore, stage.

kwick · 09/01/2018 18:01

@Iceland22 welcome!!!

@ememem84 apparently soap is better at cleaning you too.

Went into H&B today and ONLY bought toothpaste - shunned all the lovely beauty products calling to me.

I'm in Israel this week! So I've brought lots of samples/travel sizes with me - hope I have a few empties to report in s couple of days GrinI will not take more mini items from hotel, I will not use mini items from hotel and use what I brought who am I kidding!!

ememem84 · 09/01/2018 20:21

dragon oooh Israel - nice. Are you going to Jerusalem? there are some lovely market stalls which sell soaps and things

kwick · 10/01/2018 08:05

@DragonNoodleCake enjoy Israel!

I have two "empties" - not entirely empty but need to be chucked:

  • Doucce maxlash volume mascara: loved this to begin with but 2 months in (approx) has become really hard to apply so am chucking - life is too short!
  • Lottie London arch rival volumusing eyebrow powder: fairly hard to apply - powder gets everywhere

Enjoy Israel Dragon - I have some family there but have sadly never visited. Would love to though.

Aussie dry hair shampoo finished this morning. Hated it. Can't wait to get back to Batiste (controversial I know!).

ememem84 · 10/01/2018 12:38

shoop I hated the Aussie dry shampoo. Ick. I’m currently using tresseme. Which is nice. Not sure if it’s nicer than batiste though....

Cupoteap · 10/01/2018 22:34

I've done it - glossy box is cancelled!!!!

kwick · 11/01/2018 07:49

@Cupoteap wahoo!!!!

I think a beauty related goal I can make for the next few months is to establish a "low cost" skincare regime that my skin appreciates.
So far I think I can confirm some steps:

  • Simple Micellar water
  • Superdrug Vitamin E hot cloth cleanser/Superdrug Naturally Radiant hot cloth cleanser/coconut oil
  • Body Shop vitamin E serum in oil - for night time
  • Marks & Spencer formula absolute deep sleep cream
  • Superdrug Pure serum
  • Body Shop skin defence

I am really hoping The Ordinary glycolic acid that I have in my stash works out (have not been that impressed with 3 other products I tried so far).

Any suggestions gratefully received!

I've a couple of empties - kids no soap facial cleanser and baby body wash - I tipped them into my handwash bottle that I keep by the kitchen sink. I often find handwash dries out my skin so it'll be interesting to see if this is kinder to my hands.

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 11/01/2018 17:31

kwick I’m currently loving Body Shop camomile cleanser, then the ordinary azeliac acid for brightening, then their oil. Not a mega fan of oil as works well but doesn’t smell as nice as I like for the last thing on my face at night. Prefer rose or lavender scent so I will keep searching.
This morning I used up really old Right Guard shower gel I found lurking in main bathroom. No idea who is belonged to but gone gone gone! All going well on using up lotions except now rejoined lipstick thread and have a few ideas about what to spend my Boots points on! (Technically free).

Have binned a Lily Lolo powder as just never worked for me. Gone!

Thinking about this thread, I just generally feel like I am doing so much better. I avoid those click bait emails and avoid 3for2 offers so stash going down and feeling lighter!

IPokeBadgers · 11/01/2018 21:13

Another empty: a small (15ml) pot of estee lauder revitalising supreme creme that came in last year's christmas blockbuster set. Very rich, quite heavy and fragranced so used it as a night cream. Don't think I would buy again/invest in a full size. Prefer a lighter formula like elemis pcmc.

comeagainforbigfudge · 11/01/2018 22:21

So I've broke out a new bar of soap
It's HUGE!!!!!!

I lurked on the soap thread then invested and have found I don't need to shower as much. Shock

kwick · 13/01/2018 08:33

Thanks @AnotherPinkiePieStory I like that one too although I think I prefer the No7 one but it has been a while since I tried.

I have two empties... and well I may have held back on reporting the conditioner so that it looks like it happened in unison Grin

  • Avon Naturals Clean Slate shampoo & conditioner: actually really liked these and they were dirt cheap. Did not add additional oil to my already greasy routes.
