I think the time has come that I face the bitter truth... my face just cannot take it if I do not apply night cream. I am having to say sorry with a massive pampering session this morning.

I have two more empties:

  • Leonor Greyl hair oil: I decanted a sachet of this which was a Feel Unique sample and have been using from time to time. Not sure if it does anything- will not be buying full-size as a) I am not a millionaire and b) I think coconut oil would probably work just as well
  • Oska Renaissance Mask: one of two I got through advents. Not sure what this is supposed to do but is ok but again to expensive for repurchase

Another empty:
-Bayliss & Harding English lavender and camomile hand wash: colour goes well in my new bathroom but the Avon lavender bubble bath I have just decanted into the empty bottle looks even better Grin

I have an empty, yes to blueberries frizzy hair conditioner Grin

One left for my 12 for Christmas list. I should knock the last one out before Christmas day so then I can concentrate on my Look Fantasticadvent calendar goodies! Yay.

Glad to report that my skin is calming down about bloody time and after a gazillion years of hot cloth cleansing (since 1988 when I read that Barbara Daly said to take your cleanser off with a warm flannel) I've swapped to using large cotton wool pads in tepid water and my word, what a difference! They're sooooo soft, my face feels lovely after. Game changer for me, no more muslin cloths, flannels or hot water.

Thoughts on the No7 beauty box thingy that's on offer? I'm tempted, I use the eye cream anyway, £18 and need a new mascara (the one in the box is £12) so worth a punt for £39????

DH is back from the US where the Double Wear was no cheaper, (I'm going to get a no7 foundation with my boots points I think) he couldn't find my Clinique mascara BUT he did bring me back two Clinique lipsticks that worked out at £9 each. Of course, if he hadn't left the shopping until the airport on the way back he might have been more successful but as his lipstick choices were spot on I've forgiven him this time Grin

FrustratedFrugal · 17/12/2017 18:13

Two boring empties, Batiste dry shampoo and Wella hair mousse.

Extreme work stress is over, very happy that I made it through, and have already gotten some good feedback. Plus had time for 10k today which made all the difference - my stressed-out body is deeply relaxed. Falling behind on my DIY advent calendar, must try to use up a few samples tonight.

comeagainforbigfudge · 18/12/2017 09:51

Morning folks! I lost the will with beauty hoard for a while there. The succumbed to the m&s beauty advent calendar. Blush. So the hoard is even worse, with boxes still to go 🙈.

To make matters worse, i fallen in love with a face cream sample that costs £85 full size (gatineau advanced rejuvenating cream). It's made my face look healthy again!

So NEW PLAN. I will save £15/month in a special jar. And I will commit myself to using up all the sample/travel size products i have. Im convinced thats where i wrnt wrong previously. Too many full sized products so became disenchanted.

Do you have a plan for January yet?
I might aim to use 18 in January. In honour of the year 2018 😁

Will post back when I've decided what they are.

Hello. I’m jumping back in if I may.

Ds is 12 weeks old I haven’t been taking care of myself much. Although he’s pampered and snuggled as much as he wants. Smile

So. Today I’ve had a proper sort through the gifts I’ve been given - so many “new mum” toiletries and lovely gifts.

So. I’m back on the use it up train. Starting with hand cream (again) so much handwashing is happening here and my hands are an absolute state. Doesn’t help that dh bought me a gorgeous ring which I want to show off but hands are a state....

I’m not wearing makeup and am barely remembering to moisturise my face or body.

ememem84 · 18/12/2017 15:23

fudge I love that idea. I might do the same. Save £10 a month for treats.

FrustratedFrugal · 18/12/2017 16:47

#18inJan sounds fab, go for it! I'll get back to my goals at the end of the year, I've been using up samples like there's no tomorrow and might need some time to recuperate.

I've switched around my eye makeup staples and feel hugely refreshed. Golden Nars eye shadow with black Nars liner, tightlining with purple Chanel pencil, with Kiko matte lipstick that enhances my natural lip color just a tiny bit. All this looks great with gray cashmere.

I haven't posted a selfie in ages, so here's something different - my face "enhanced" using a crazy Chinese facetuning app, Meitu (it gave me a pointier chin, smaller mouth, a new nose, much bigger eyes, and a lighter complexion). Now I just need a plastic surgeon so that I can look like this forever...

There is no way I can finish all my stash on the 18/01/18

😱😱😱😱

I will have to work hard using my products. I have said this many times before, but at least now I am enjoying the pampering 🤗.

I finished a hair conditioner bottle today and a bar of soap.

DragonNoodleCake · 18/12/2017 21:40

Hi all! Not been around for an age. Not used up anything exciting... and I sinned... I bought the Rituals advent calendar on the 9th for half price after moaning at DH I didn't have one Smile

I'll have to catch up on all your action tonight!!

IPokeBadgers · 19/12/2017 14:54

Another empty: a john frieda sheer blonde deep conditioner. Had this pot on the go for ages, as I only use about once a week. Won't repurchase any time soon because I have various stash items to replace. But prob will buy again some time in the future.

suchatiredbunny · 19/12/2017 16:04

Badgers my DD has long, blond curly hair and we find the John Frieda range excellent as her hair is so thick. A cheaper version is the Phil Smith (I think) range in Sains, cheaper but fab products.

Talked myself down from the No7 box Halo I have bought a 9 to 5 Cleanser from lush and the aloe one from the body shop though as they're better for removing with cotton wool than the thicker hot cloth cleansers. The only empty here is a boring baby wash from Sains as my youngest DS needs bland products to wash in. Liked it, very gentle and was finished up as a bubble bath when the shower broke a couple of weeks ago. Oh, tell a lie, I've used up a crayon stick type lipstick from No7, I think it was a freebie from this time last year, would buy one though it wasn't drying and lasted well.

kwick · 19/12/2017 20:28

@suchatiredbunny glad to hear your skin is doing better. I feel much better about my regime - I mix it up: some days micellar water, some days hot cloth, some days balm/oil.

@ememem84 may we have a picture of baby and a picture of the ring? Grin

I have an empty:

  • MD Complete Restoring Cleanser: bought on recommendation from some You Tuber or other but this is just a common or garden face wash

Only a few more days of advent Sad what will I do without my daily fix? Confused

Oh ok then...

But only because you asked so nicely @kwick

mintmagnummm · 19/12/2017 21:20

ememem your son is absolutely gorgeous, I know people say that about babies all the time but honestly he is bloody adorable! I think he's gonna be a heartbreaker!

suchatiredbunny · 19/12/2017 21:33

Oh Em he's lovely. I love babies. And your ring is nice too and has quite clearly set a precedent, one ring per baby (that's what I did! Grin ) My eldest son is nearly 15 (snd six foot tall) but he's such a delight, (I have two boys and a girl) so many people seem to think girls are better/easier than boys but that's not true, boys are wonderful and your heart will burst as you watch him grow into a delightful young man who literally eats everything in his path and costs you a fortune to feed and clothe

Kwick my skin is much calmer and I meant to say thank you for the Savlon reminder, that definitely helped. Not hot cloth Cleansing has made a real difference.

suchatiredbunny · 19/12/2017 21:35

Ooh, and even if you don't have a daughter to do the typical girly stuff with don't panic, if he gets spots in his teens he will quite happily do face masks with you and join you in a facial steam when you open the dishwasher mid cycle Grin

ememem84 · 19/12/2017 22:34

AW fanx guys he is particularly lovely at the moment. All smiles. Yay!

I was a bit nervous at him being a boy - I guess because I’m a girl and know what were like iyswim. But I think I’m probably more chilled out with him than if he was a girl.

Also don’t have to worry about teen pregnancy. Phew. Well not directly. A colleague of mine on Saturday at our Xmas party said with boys you only have to worry about one willy. With girls you have to worry about all the Willy’s. Hah!

Anyhoo. I moisturised today for the first time in well ages. Yay. Must start doing things like that again. Use. It. Up.

My goal is to get to next birthday and be able to treat myself to some lovely make up. I have a few bits from Bobbi Brown and really rate them so that may be my go to.

BulletFox · 20/12/2017 01:04

I don't know where mine is, everything is packed up in boxes! But I think I have enough products (somewhere...) to last a few months.

Weirdly enough I feel quite energetic at present and up to tackling it, but the neighbours would think I was doing kung fu or summat if I started lugging around boxes at 1am

ProseccoMamam · 20/12/2017 01:41

Wow I wish I'd have seen this thread a few months back. I have banned myself from buying beauty products unless I have ran out of it. So far I've had to buy toner, face wash, shower gel and fake tan. I have 4 drawers of lotions and potions. 1 chest filled with make up and 24 unopened perfumes plus 6 bottles opened. I'm slowly but surely whittling it all down to the products I actually need. I have thousands of pounds worth of products and there is no way I need them all. Lots have been given away to family and friends but it's barely made a difference. Can you charity shop beauty stuff?

chloechloe · 20/12/2017 07:46

Hello everyone! Lots of good work going on!

What a gorgeous little boy you have em! I have two little girls under 3 and DH jokes about how he'll lock them up when boys start sniffing round. Your post makes me think three would be lovely bunny but DD2 is now 12mo and still killing me with her terrible sleeping.

kwick in order to make January a bit brighter I have kept back a Decleor AC to open which was given to me. I'm tempted now to see if I can find a half price Rituals one!

I have a great empty today - a whopping 200ml LE Cleanse and Polish, as well as another mini L'Occitane handcream.

I have a plan for the new year. No spending until my birthday in April when I will treat myself to something. I will allow myself to buy stuff I am completely out of. And I also have two online gift vouchers to use before January which obviously I don't want to waste! But that is it! I need to make a dent in this stash.

ememem84 · 20/12/2017 08:18

Have moisturised again today. Woohoo. Palmers cocoa butter with a bit of self tan. I may have used too much as I smell super biscuity. Grin

CantChoose · 20/12/2017 08:28

I have used a perfume sample up this morning. A guerlain robe noir or something like that. I quite like it but not enough to buy it, in the unlikely event I ever run out of perfume...
em I find the biscuit smell strangely comforting Blush
