Ooh Kwick puppy fever!

RJ one of my favorite skincare bloggers, Kerry Thompson (herself a retinoid user), says this on retinoids: ”A damaged moisture barrier manifests as red, rough, flaky skin that simultaneously itches and burns. If this happens to you, stop using your retinoid for a couple of weeks while your skin repairs itself.” Full story here! Hope your skin heals quickly.

kwick · 10/12/2017 20:34

My skin really is not a happy camper at the mo. Probably all the hormones I have been taking am following Caroline Hirons advice to nourish, and my own to dry the shit out of the spots Xmas Grin
Part of the nourish plan is to use a Garnier moisture bomb tissue mask - love these.

I may have had a complete make up blow out including buying 4 eyeshadow pallets 😬

It's no wonder your skin is playing up kwick with the hormones. Hope it settles down soon. Do tell us about your eyeshadow palettes! I love a good palette but shall be banning myself from any more seeing as I have 4 Urban Decay ones Blush

I do have more empties though!

  1. Josie Maran argan oil handcream 30ml.

  2. Aurelia Refine & Polish miracle Balm 30ml.

Not convinced I'll manage a double 25 for Christmas though!

kwick · 11/12/2017 08:04

@chloechloe I got a Turquoise Loreal one, plus too singles and then 3 MUA pallets.... trying to get blueish/greenish shades Xmas Blush I will try and upload a photo when haul arrives... I also got some body creams - not bad for £36

usernameinfinito · 11/12/2017 10:14

kwick I fell for the eye palettes too. Got the TAM I heart chocolate in Elixir, Rose Gold and Mint. No more eyeshadows for me.

kwick · 12/12/2017 07:25

I CANNOT believe that I actually forgot to report an empty!!!!

  • Superdrug Naturally Radiant hot cloth cleanser: this is a staple for me - great value
Also:
  • Smashbox Photo Finish foundation primer: not sure about this...
OP posts:
chloechloe · 12/12/2017 11:51

Sounds like you have some lovely palettes kwick and infinito.

I'm up to 34. Another L'Occitane small foot cream.

I think I may actually make the double 25 for Xmas - I counted last night about 15 things (mainly samples) that are nearly finished, so if I keep going at those I might manage.

OutToGetYou · 12/12/2017 23:49

A few empties:

Lrp zinc spray
A vit C serum (used it up on my huge bum, this seems to be the way forward)
A Waitrose pure face cream
A Neals Yard face cleanser.

Not doing very well, taking ages. Body lotion is my problem, have loads of it, hate using it. I admit I threw away a two-thirds used small one as it felt endless and pointless, wasn't a nice brand or anything, a hotel one I think.

Still not bought stuff though, this is good news!

usernameinfinito · 13/12/2017 00:39

Thank you chloe but I am increasing my stash 😭

I have had to do a superdrug order to replace things. How lovely it feels to replace stuff 🤗

kwick · 13/12/2017 07:50

I have an empty!

  • Badedas bath cream: ok but not the full on pine smell I hanker after.

I HAVE ONLY 1 ITEM LEFT ON MY 25 for Christmas list!!!!
I am already working on compiling my 14 by Valentines list Grin

OP posts:
AnotherPinkiePieStory · 13/12/2017 11:17

I agree user. Can’t imagine when I will need to go to Boots to replace anytime soon!
I have managed to use up a few things in a oner last week: face mask, foot mask and perfume. Admittedly all single use but never mind! Also binned 2 rubbish lipsticks that either bled or had dried out so feeling better about throwing 2 new ones into trolley when in Wilko for emergency xmas decorations!
And seeing sense and gifting things from my Sephora haul!
I am back to see Surgeon after my eye operation next week so fingers crossed I can wear eye make up again. Been too long (about 6 weeks) and not helping stash at all!
Now working on Valentines list. But EU moisturiser mountain still evident at my house!

Tablefor4 · 13/12/2017 12:28

Couple of dull empties:

  • deodorant
  • Vitamin C Nivea face cream. Inspired by the comments about Vitamin C creams, it was ok. May try the Superdrug one.

Most exctingly (or sdly) I have finished sparkly blue eye liner from Mac bought when I had lots of money for make-up. It is now 1.5cms long and the "lead" keeps disappearing up inside the tube, so calling it dead. Have probably owned it for 20 years (can that even be right?!) favourite shade. Sad

kwick · 13/12/2017 17:58

20 years of use sounds like a good investment @Tablefor4 if somewhat unhygienicGrin

Have used Burts bees lip balm in a metal tin. Bought it 3 years ago, but didn't really use it because it was such a PITA to get the lid off. Thanks to this thread I put my mind to use it up. The tin has been on my bedside table with the lid not properly closed to avoid the struggle.

Also gone is homemade lavender hand cream. I like to rub on my feet every night. Got another jar to use, however, I think I might make another batch, if I still can find the recipe on internet.

With that it leaves me with 3 items left on my Christmas list. One of them I will definitely not finish, the other two might still happen.

suchatiredbunny · 13/12/2017 23:17

Lots of progress on here, well done folks. I have two empties, a Lush Eau Roma toner which was nice but nothing beats Liz Earle for me so probably won't buy again, also a Double Wear that I've had and used pretty much daily for just over a year (and been scraping round with a cotton bud to get every last drop!) I'd like another, but not at full price (DH picked this up for me in the staff shop at HQ in Belguim). I have a Body Shop one to finish before I think about what to buy next (think I might go back to No7).

Oh, and another empty, a Liz Earle hair oil which I've bought repeatedly since it was launched and have already replaced with one bought with the Black Friday discount. I love this stuff (and so does DD annoyingly as she's a bit heavy handed with it), it looks after my ends, doesn't make my hair greasier and if I can hide it from DD, lasts months as I only use one pump at a time.

Advice though please, my skin is awful at the moment! Really spotty (but not oily) and I've had a chinful of those massive cystic lumps (and have a couple more coming on my forehead). Thankfully it's cold enough I can clamp a hat on and wrap a scarf round my face when I leave the house! Any suggestions as to what to try? Maybe hot cloth Cleansing is too much? I'm trying not to slap DS's spot stuff on after I reacted to it back in the summer but if anyone can suggest anything that might help I'd be grateful.

kwick · 14/12/2017 07:34

@Strawberryfield12 now that is what I call determination!!! Well done!!!

@suchatiredbunny not sure what to advise. Maybe pair it back as much as possible (could be one of your skincare products is the cause) and slowly reintroduce. I find it is about getting the balance of drying out products (like glycolic acid), antibacterial (savlon) and nourishing... I am still working on the perfect remedy.

There is no hope for me... I went into Superdrug yesterday for root dye, they did not have my colour, walked out £25 later...

curragh · 14/12/2017 13:37

Great progress everyone 😄

Have a few empties to report
77. Full size Moroccan oil light. Many years old...
78. La petit Marseillaise shampoo
79. Mystery product from the M&S advent calendar... don't want to post a spoiler as it hasn't been opened yet but those people with self control 😉

chloechloe · 14/12/2017 14:37

It's a pain when that happens kwick - you're walking round the shop and things fall off the shelf into your basket Grin

Does your DH work for EL bunny? The excitement! Mine works in the Pharma industry and comes home with eye drops Hmm

You've reminded me curragh that I had a bottle of the same oil but have no idea where it is since moving house 2.5 years ago!

mintmagnummm · 14/12/2017 14:51

Bunny what's your routine at the moment

suchatiredbunny · 14/12/2017 15:18

chloe my DH is a chemist who works in scientific research (researching what I've no idea, hotel rooms and restaurants mainly!) but he travels globally visiting all sorts of places like hospitals, universities and pharma places ( I've had eyedrops before too, and ulcer gel!) but last year went to the EL HQ and texted to say his was headed for the staff shop Grin I texted him a list and the boy did good!

Hi mint how are you? My routine is quite simple at the mo as my skin is very unhappy (I've even had to take my rings off as my fingers have been itching so much and I had eczema under my wedding ring) so on my face I've been using Cleanse and polish or the body shop butter balm stuff, fresh farmacy soap from lush (I like this it's very gentle), the liz earle tonic and the moisturiser. I tend not to use moisturiser on my t-zone.

Lentilbaby · 14/12/2017 16:09

Hi Ladies,
I didn’t post a hit list of items I needed to use due to moving/new baby etc. however I just had to share with you that I finished the following:
-Kiehls Avocado Eye Cream
-Clarins body oil (toning)
-Korres Shower gel (Santorini vine).

Feeling very proud of myself!

I will post a list soon.

Am on Mat leave so do not have the funds to be purchasing lots of new things.....could not be more grateful for my excessive hoard.....I always knew it would come in handy one day! Wink

mintmagnummm · 14/12/2017 20:13

I'm not too bad bunny thank u, hope ur well? I think u should just stick to that routine for now and let the spots heal themselves, don't be tempted to treat them with anything.

kwick · 15/12/2017 07:09

FFS just seen an email from Superdrug: the haul I did online on Sunday will not be delivered until 22 December!!!!! And today is my last day at work until 4 Jan - so basically I will have to go and buy some of the stuff again as it contained Christmas pressies and some essentials!!!! AngryAngryAngry

Anyhoo have an empty:

  • Aveeno Daily moisturising hand cream: sinks in well but no smell (which I guess is the point)
OP posts:
usernameinfinito · 15/12/2017 20:13

kwick Oh no! I think my order will take just as long Sad Well, I guess it will be something to look forward to. I am on the no spend 2018 and I will not buy more products unless I have to replace them.

CantChoose · 15/12/2017 22:10

kwick that's so annoying! I placed a look fantastic order on Black Friday oops and it's only just arrived. Good job none of it was desperate. It came in three boxes too (four items) so that was another £3 the work charity Christmas parcel penalty fund... came with slightly disappointing goody bag, I usually love the LF freebie bags :(

I've finished another hypnose sample and also the decleor aroma confort gradual glow hydrating body milk from my 25 list. I still have 11 to go after such a good start :/ at least 5 won't be finished, the rest might. I've finished stuff I didn't think to put on the list though so I'm probably at 25 in total, just not the right 25!!
