The Cosmo one is a really good buy. Lots I could deconstruct into stocking gifts for my 17yo.

CantChoose · 23/11/2017 08:48

Yes, the Cosmo is the one I’ve got my eye on. Must. Not. Buy. More. Stuff.

RJnomore1 · 23/11/2017 08:49

I know! I'm trying to justify it by thinking could give dd the sleek stuff.

I won't if you won't?

suchatiredbunny · 23/11/2017 10:37

Cant my phone does that with the strike through thing too, it’s really annoying!

Bought a No7 protect and perfect eye cream today, used it before and like it a lot. I’m nearly done with a pot of the Khiels avocado stuff but it looks like it’s beginning to split so it’s going in the bin.

CantChoose · 23/11/2017 11:25

Bunny I think I've fixed it

kwick · 23/11/2017 18:11

Do any of you lovely ladies have any tips for getting eyebrow growth on a bald patch?

My God!!! Everyone is doing so well!!! 🎉🎊🎈

strawberry I am very jealous of your Zelen’s haul!! Full reviews please!!!

big the LF calendar is amazeballs!!!

How did you fix the strikethrough thing cant??? I have the same problem and it is driving me insane!!!!!

I made a mistake earlier 😩 went to the wrong (read smaller) Superdrug and they had none of the stuff I wanted!! Am going to HAVE to do an online shop now!!!

Just been enjoying catching up on the threads - work has been busy so not a lot of time for mumsnet.

I was working on 14 for Halloween but had quite a few items still on the list by Halloween so now I'm working on Thirty for Hogmanay.

So my Halloween list was
[X] Max Factor foundation - thrown out, think I'd had it more years than I'd like to admit and it was making my skin sore
[X] Origins Drink Up mask - too fragranced, used up on hands and body
[X]Aromatherapy Associates De-stress body wash - nothing special and too expensive for what it is
[X] Faith in Nature Moisturiser - used up on body, smelled too weird for face

  1. Indeed Labs exfoliator - c/f to 304H
[X] Elemis PCMC Rich - nice enough but lots of others to use up [X] This Works - In Transit Camera Close Up - not moisturising enough to use as a mask or moisturiser and made my foundation disappear when used as a primer, also did not like the smell of it.
  1. L'Oreal Gentle Eye Make Up Remover - c/f to 304H
[X] Urban Reivers perfume - nice enough, only had it as I won it in a raffle though [X] Aromatherapy Associates Relax Body Oil - didn't really like the smell of this and it's expensive so won't repurchase [X] Aroma Actives Triple Hydrating Gel Mask - moisturising and inexpensive but contained lots of essential oil which my skin didn't like 12. Malin and Goetz Lip Moisturiser - c/f to 304H 13. Elemis Skin Food oil - c/f to 304H 14. Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel - c/f to 304H

So for my Hogmanay list I've decided not to create a specific list, I've gathered all the products I want finished into a box in my bathroom so they are in front of me and will remind me to use them. Some of them are quite old and I'm fed up seeing them so I just want them used.

I also need to make a serious dent in my stash as I decided to make my own advent calendar, (not my best financial decision in hindsight!) but went a little over the top and I will have about 40 products to add to my stash across December - I just love miniature products.

So I'm a third way through my Hogmanay list

  1. Faith in Nature tea tree bath and shower gel - bought to counteract my whiffy pits (as a result of natural deo), nice enough but lots to use up.
  2. Superdrug B Hydrated Facial Spritz - I loved this to begin with but the fragrance in it irritated my skin over time. Moved on to Clinique moisture surge spray which is fragrance free and my skin is a lot happier. Unfortunately it's at least double the price.
3 L'Oreal Eye make up remover - left my eyes dry after using, got another one in stash to use up though.
  1. Yes to Cucumbers conditioner - a bit too light for my hair but smells nice and didn't irritate my scalp.
  2. Elemental Herbology overnight souffle sample - my skin likes this a lot more now it's cold than it did in September - very moisturising - but smells like This Works In Transit, so I'm not a fan of smell.
  3. Royal Jelly body cream - got this for Christmas in 2014, so glad to see the back of it!
  4. Scholl Velvet Smooth foot soak - liked this - a foot product that doesn't smell of mint or menthol - would repurchase but have other products I can use as foot soak in my stash.
  5. Liz Earle shampoo - love the smell of this - fresh a bit like apples - it's on my Christmas list.
  6. Indeed Labs exfoliator - SO glad to see the back of this - it foams and I found it drying, I just don't like washing things off my face with water. It's a white powder in a white bottle so it was impossible to assess how much was left so thought I was almost finished many a time!
10. Soaper Duper Fruity Green Tuberose handwash - didn't like the smell of this - replaced it with the lemon version - think the range dries my hands out though. Hopefully this will be the first list I manage to finish!
Treeballarae · 23/11/2017 18:50

kwick this is more of a "what not to try" but Revitabrow did not work on my eyebrow bald patch - I just have to fill it in with an eyeshadow/eye brow pencil.

strawberry I'd also be interesting in hearing about your Zelens experiences especially the pads.

On my shopping list after catching up is the Body Shop ginger shampoo and the Moogoo shampoo

Well done on everyone's progress, reading others progress gets me through the periods when everything is still ages away from being finished.

kwick · 23/11/2017 18:58

Wowzers tree!!! Good job!

Posted in site stuff on an old 'strikethrough' post and a lovely MNer told me to turn off smart punctuation in my settings. So it works now :)

Strawberryfield12 · 23/11/2017 19:42

Seems that placing that order with Zelens has taken the lure out of the system, and it has been replaced with the guilt over spending so much money...

My favourite from the Hearst Magazines beauty boxes is the Red one. But obviously after last night's extravaganza, I am not going anywhere near it. I wonder if they will mark down their boxes down to 20 pounds in January like they dew months ago. Btw, is anybody using Paula's choice retinol so many of us got with GH last box? What do you think?

chloechloe · 23/11/2017 19:55

Good work tree!

kwick I'm a fan of Talika Lipocils for getting stuff to grow back. I used to use the eyebrow one on my eyelashes (has a better applicator) and it really worked. I've recently switched to Revitalash though. A cheaper option to Talika would be castor oil - havdxreax a lot on here that it's good for hair regrowth.

strawberry I've not tried any of the products you have listed but the Zelens stuff I have tried has been really good.

I had a look at the link for the beauty box Advents but was good and resisted!

kwick · 23/11/2017 20:43

is now the time to mention that I have just done a Superdrug haul and another in the Body Shop?
cant you are the best! Thanks 😘

chloe thanks! I am going to try the castor oil again- I just forget to use but I have to hand.

strawberry I use the Paula's Choice retinol from the beauty box. I really really like it, it's quite rich - I have combination skin so don't always need to moisturise afterwards.

trigger2 · 24/11/2017 09:25

Last night I chucked my previously loved No 7 cleansing oil (there was only an inch left).
I hadn't used it for several months due to the perioral dermatitis I had. When I tried it again last night it burned my face like a bitch. Promptly washed off and binned.

I guess just now I'll stick to Avene until things improve. I'll have to start using some of my 'face hoard' on my body !

Strawberryfield12 · 24/11/2017 09:57

Shop I am using it as well. It's my first retinol, so don't have anything to compare with. First few uses the skin felt slightly flushed in the morning, but adapted very quickly. Like the consistency of it!

kwick · 25/11/2017 12:33

Have withdrawal symptoms already after opening last LF advent box today Sad

RJnomore1 · 25/11/2017 12:57

I've got 2 more empties

  1. Clinique smart serum, small one froma gift set. Liked it, absorbs well and feels nice

  2. Bottle of chanel allure EDP. My signature scent but I can't replace just now as I know I'm getting more for Xmas. Will use up my body lotions over the next month.

RJnomore1 · 25/11/2017 13:36

I've also decided to get rid of a product I don't like.

Dr jacksonsnatural products facial oil.

I've used almost 3/4 but it's too heavy for my skin. It really doesn't like it. If you have very dry skin I would recommend but it's not for my combination skin. I did persist with it for probably too long.

So 15.

Shop · 25/11/2017 14:01

I've only used The Ordinary retinol before so worked up very very slowly with the Paula's Choice clinical as I'd read a few reviews saying it was harsh etc. Touch wood I've not had a reaction at all. I'm really pleased with it, it's definitely helps marks and brought a clarity to my skin.
I finished the Ren shampoo mini too so number 3 but unfortunately they aren't on my list. Opened full size Maria Nila shampoo & conditioner I'd had from latest in Beauty, so far so good 😊
Black Friday has totally had me though 😩 Ordered some more Bravura stuff, Paulas Choice bha (although I'm nearly at the end of the one I have open), Decleor neroli for £10 on escentual and a new epilator from Boots!

curragh · 25/11/2017 14:35

Empty no. 69 Large bottle Garnier micellar water. Micellar water is a staple for me, going to use up a small travel size bottle & then looking forward to trying the Bioderma version
70. Nivea shaving foam (originally bought to make sensory bags for DC2. One more to go... )

Strawberryfield12 · 25/11/2017 14:53

Have finished The Body Shop ginger shampoo and Clarins night and day creams, both 15ml. None on the Christmas list.

IPokeBadgers · 25/11/2017 15:33

Not really very exciting but finally finished a Lidl cien roll on deodorant that has been on the go for ages. I actually would buy this again, thought it was every bit as good as other branded roll ons, but as there are several deodorants and antiperspirants in the cupboard no need to buy anytime soon.

Actually had a moment when I was about to bin it.....I don't know if anyone else is following the thread about consumerism? It reminded me of a trip to Cuba a few years go....the empty roll on I was about to bin was what children in Cuba were using as skipping rope handles and skittles for their street games.

mintmagnummm · 25/11/2017 16:37

I finished a sachet of Ester Lauder ANR does that count? Grin

mintmagnummm · 25/11/2017 16:37

*estee!! 🙄
