Dead jealous of your list, kittens.

I have the following in my Notino basket, too! But haven't checked out and have left them there for a weeks or so...
Serge Lutens Fille en Aiguilles,
L'Artisan Parfumeur Traversée du Bosphores
L'Artisan Parfumeur Les Explosions d'Emotions Amour Nocturne

Also recently rediscovered Dune. Was snotty about it in my youth, but its rather lovely imo (now, as an old gimmer) - lots of notes that are all identifiable at different stages, a real 'unfolder'.

Let us know what you think of Addict. Its become a bedtime favourite of mine Grin.

explodingkittens · 11/10/2017 17:39

sherry I was intrigued by Luca Turin's description of Dune as 'bleak', hence the addition! I am fascinated to sniff a bleak perfume Grin

If you need any encouragement/enabling to press that buy button, Amour Nocturne is on there as my first ever re-purchase - it's just utterly utterly lovely imo.

OnTheSherry · 11/10/2017 18:09

I'm intrigued by Amour Nocturne, kittens. I'm a big baby when it comes to 'weird' notes in perfume. I suppose I'm still at quite an wary stage of my perfume appreciation/obssession, so when I see unusual notes in a fragrance I tend to shy away. But gunpowder in a sweet, semi-gourmand perfume sounds heavenly. I might have to purchase that same in time for Nov 5th Grin.

I love that Luca Turin called Dune 'bleak'. Its an interesting one. Lots of review experience it as quite dry and like a windy, hot desert. Its often cited as very unisex. But I find it very feminine and the vanilla/spice/woods are really prominent for me. Its a journey, anyway. I am still picking out different notes until the very last part of the dry down. Let me know how you get on!

OnTheSherry · 11/10/2017 18:09

quite an early stage - but 'wary' is a Freudian slip, I think Grin

OnTheSherry · 11/10/2017 18:10

Blast my typos!

OCSockOrphanage · 11/10/2017 19:06

Replace the 5ml Travalo I send it in, Bluebell, and I'll send you some Fire. PM me with your address. I bought an FB and have used diddly from it, so happy to share. It's an autumn winter scent and not great in summer unless you're having a bonfire or BBQ.

MrsPestilence · 11/10/2017 19:13

SoTD is Uermi - OH ± Denim, a mild aftershave smell with a hint of tuberose. It might just be that, when I wear tuberose, I like be to hit around the head with it. A perfectly pedestrian soapy, floral, soft musk.

Badders08 · 11/10/2017 19:16

Sotd dior addict

OCSockOrphanage · 11/10/2017 19:18

SoTD was Dior's New Look, thanks to the Scent Samples website for the freebie. Sadly, it has been overlooked thanks to a clutch failure that saw me loading my car on and off recovery vehicles for most of the time I should have been listening to my wrist. I was only dropping my mum on to the train to visit a friend! New Look is much faded, but pleasant (eight hours on) although I am not certain that the Dior Exclusifs are up to their price tags on my experience so far. It's very well blended, so much that I can't pick out anything distinctive to like or dislike. I haven't googled it to check what I should smell.

Fingers crossed for Judy's DH. My interview sequence was crashed by a totally impossible task (although it was a bit of a blag from the beginning!)

MrsMacNally · 11/10/2017 19:24

Wary sounds wise OTS.Grin

Funny, I remember Dune, and Obsession, landing as though aliens from outer-olfactory space. Both seemed remarkable at the time for each having a huge, single 'other wordly' smell, that was recognisable anywhere. Previous powerhouses from the same era seemed to be more about complexity and progression?

When I started reading about perfume years later I was startled to see these classed as orientals, as at the time they'd felt like a whole new category.

MrsPestilence · 11/10/2017 19:37

I was bored of Denim, so had a squirt of my freebie 4160 sample.
What did I think Silk, Lace and Chocolate was going to smell like? Sweet, very sweet vanilla and sweet milky chocolate mixed with sweet fruits. I smell like I have fallen face first into a box of half melted milk tray. Confused I don't like sweet perfumes, I need some umami.

littlechou · 11/10/2017 19:37

For me SOTD today was fève délicieuse by Christian Dior. Got given two generous 9ml samples when DH was buying his Ambre Nuit.
Lovely and warm, spicy and sweet. Perfect to perk me up this dreary Wednesday Smile

littlechou · 11/10/2017 19:38

Haha MrsP, that sweet overload sounds like my dream perfume! Grin

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 11/10/2017 19:46

Have spent a bit too long browsing EBay today Blush Was just about to take a punt on some Mitsouko but can't bid because the seller insists on you having a linked PayPal account. Rats! Looking at some Miss Diors - I like the PP version but understand that the current formulation is PM so wouldn't mind seeing (or smelling) what the real one used to be like.

PIAM not familiar with the Seville a' L'Aube - will make a note!

SOTD has been Mitsouko. As you might have guessed I do like this one! Still not sure it's bee bottle worthy but could happily pick up a "proper" normal bottle.

Does anyone log their samples and/or ssotd? I love dotted journals and got a particularly lovely one for my birthday. Feels wasteful to use it for "general adminitration" and I'm trying to decide what to do with it. A personal scent bible could be a strong contender...

Judydreamsofhorses · 11/10/2017 19:47

SOTD is L'Air de Rien. My stupid tooth is really hurting again and it's a fortnight until I go back to the dentist (she's on holiday).

Interview update - the recruiter called today, and feedback was very good. They have one other candidate to see, next Thursday. Hopefully we will hear more at the end of next week.

MrsPestilence · 11/10/2017 19:49

Scrubbed and replaced with Up the Apples and Pears, that's better.

Little it is your if you want it. 4160 sample bottle sprayed twice.

OCSockOrphanage · 11/10/2017 20:19

I understood Dune and Obsession to be categorised as ozonics IIRC. When did that change? Definitely not Oriental in style.

Badders08 · 11/10/2017 20:26

Really?
I always knew obsession as an oriental

explodingkittens · 11/10/2017 20:36

Oh god, a scent journal. What an amazing idea. I get to indulge both my longest-standing obsession and my newest!

sherry, if it helps I don't get the gunpowder notes from Amour Nocturne at all - just a lovely smoky, sweet-but-not-sickly, autumnal caramel.

9ml samples littlechou, that is very generous!

I have pencil shavings from Fire now. I have a soft spot for perfumes with pencil-shavings notes (?cedar) but not when I want FIRE!!

I'm excited about Dune. I'm excited about all of them though, tbh.

BluebellGal · 11/10/2017 21:52

Thank you Sock Smile where do you find travalos and what are they?

SilverHawk · 11/10/2017 22:30

I'm very excited as I've made my first 4160 order today!

MrsMacNally · 11/10/2017 23:04

What have you gone for Silverhawk?

Travalos in TK Maxx right now Bluebell - they are easy to fill travel atomisers.

Have you tried either of the 4160 Firesides EK?

BluebellGal · 11/10/2017 23:11

Thanks mrsmacnally will get some at the weekend

I’ll PM you sock once I’ve got one. Would you like a decant from my collection? What sort of thing do you like?

MrsMacNally · 11/10/2017 23:22

That makes sense in what made them a departure OC, but yes, Fragrantica has them down as oriental spicy and oriental woody.

Calmwhoknows · 11/10/2017 23:47

MrsPest, I love Silk, Lace and Chocolate and have bought a bottle! To me it smells like a box of rich, dark chocolate strawberry creams and not that sweet either. How weird that you disliked it so much 🤔! But great that we see different things in perfume.

littlechou, Feve Delicieuse is on my list to buy, but it is so expensive I may need to settle for another (large) sample!
