Squash.

It gets rave reviews on fragratica!

Pestilentialone · 08/09/2017 20:50

I do Squash and Hungary water and L'Eau de L'Artisan, eau de cologne is good.

Pestilentialone · 08/09/2017 20:54

OMG they do so many new flavours, when did that happen?

PerfumeIsAMessage · 08/09/2017 21:10

I bought a bottle of 4711 recently on holiday. Reminds me of my nan who dabbed it on a hanky for headaches. Wanted some of the Spanish colonia in the yellow bottle which reminds Grinme of something quite different

GreenPolishToGo · 08/09/2017 22:12

OneNight I think you made a wise, brave and loving decision there and your DS sounds lovely. Flowers

Squashit 'fess up about the Midnight Fantasy. If it's that good it deserves the credit

I love the original 4711. It always reminds me of the sachets of scented tissues they used to give you on aeroplanes back in the 1970s when they were nice to passengers. I had no idea they had branched out so adventurously.

MrsMacNally · 08/09/2017 22:21

Thanks for those links Pest. That helps with my Christmas list too - ELdO and Bond No.9 are winking at me Smile.

Green's right; wear with pride Squash Smile.

If only Andy Tauer sold his sample sets in the UK MrsM , he could sell a fair few Sad

MrsMacNally · 08/09/2017 22:55

Pest - yes, and that would just be to us Smile. I'd buy soap and oil too...

Do we know why he doesn't ship to the UK? And if any stockists nearer us in Europe on cheap airline routes carry sample or explorer sets?

We could club together and send someone (names in a hat - no pushing at the back!). They could be our Tauer mule?

This weeks 4160 half price perfume Rome 1963

Pestilentialone · 08/09/2017 22:59

He claims it is due to UK customs MrsM but he could find a distributor to do it for him. Everything is possible if you try.

MrsMacNally · 08/09/2017 23:04

9mls is tempting. Anyone smelt recently - I can't remember...

If it's a strongish tobacco, I'm in - the tobacco note in The Great Randello is just wonderful. (Always a bit sad it's not so discernible on my skin in either of the Max's).

Pestilentialone · 08/09/2017 23:08

I might have a sample, will check tomorrow and report back.

MrsMacNally · 08/09/2017 23:31

Thanks - would be great to hear your take on it...

I don't quite get how this works - other European perfumers can mail perfume, including sample sets, to us? Is this harder because Switzerland are outside the Customs Union (doesn't bode well...).

And anyway, don't they already have an exclusive arrangement with a UK stockist?Confused

You can get Tauer samples from Les Senteurs, but I think they are tiny I want the tin and 1.5ml samples, plus the option of the 15 ml bottles. I might actually be being quite demanding.

MrsMacNally · 08/09/2017 23:58

Me too. Yes, they decant a bit into their own sample bottles rather than selling the samples featured on the Tauer site. And why don't they stock the 15mls explorer set either? Hmm

I have Rome 1963. It's very pretty. The pine and tobacco notes soften the tuberose so it doesn't screech in the headache inducing way I associate with a lot of white florals. I think the tobacco notes are stronger in The Great Randello though.

Cheap I can't remember the price of the FB 4160 Tuesdays Advent calendar but it was fairly steep. However, it did work out cheaper than all those FBs would be usually. Last year's 4160 Advent calendar of samples was, I think, £68 - I did a lot of admiring it.

MrsMac you are right, being outside the EU is not going to bode well for buying from 'forn parts'. I try to avoid purchases from the US because of the hefty fees on anything over £15 in value. It is sad to think we'll have the same problem buying from our EU neighbours soon.

If enough of us asked nicely perhaps Les Senteurs would stock the Tauer Explorer (15ml) sets as well as the full bottles? They sell the 10ml Frederic Malles as well as the larger sizes after all.

Knope2020 · 09/09/2017 08:12

China

3DGlasses · 09/09/2017 08:16

Knope have you sniffed Kenzo Amour? It gives me the similar warm, cosy but slightly wicked feeling as Addict Grin.

Knope2020 · 09/09/2017 08:18

Oooooh
Will check it out

3DGlasses · 09/09/2017 08:27

Addict still wins hands down, but its definitely a contender.

Knope2020 · 09/09/2017 08:29

I'm addicted to addict
It's just scrumptious

kateandme · 09/09/2017 08:47

Ah, here you all are!

For those of you who were at the 4160 workshop the other week, DH still doesn't like the scent I made him. I have suggested he let it sit for a few weeks and try again (I am determined that he wear it), but he looked at me as if the cat had been sick on his shoe.

I am going to give Rome 1963 a whirl, although if it has too much tuberose, it will be going in DD1's direction.

I love 4711, and all eaux de cologne. We used to spend a lot of time in Spain when I was a child, and my mother used to dab me with baby cologne, so probably because of the memory of that.

SOTD is Molyneux Quartz, which is fresh, light and citrussy, but doesn't last.
