We'll go anywhere in search of things that smell great, and then we discuss them here. Feel free to join us.

In Gabrielle today having scored a sample in Boots at the weekend. It's very pleasant, inoffensive and familiar smelling. Am enjoying the orange blossom. Perhaps designed to be a safe blind buy as a gift? As others have commented elsewhere, there is something a bit incongruous about its pairing with an 'edgy' Kristen Stewart campaign.

SOTD was L'Air de Rien. I swapped clothes over on Friday, so it's officially autumn here, although things like heavy jumpers are still in the vacuum bags on top of the wardrobe.

My Perfumista samples have arrived. Since I'm still swathed in LADDM (14 hours after application, longevity fans!) I've not properly tested any, but have had a sneaky sniff of them all. Particularly excited by Carillon Pour Un Ange and Une Rose Chypree - Andy don't let me down now Wink

Have also had a victory (of sorts) - Dp is usually less-than-enthusiastic about any of the scents I wear, but LADDM got an actual 'that's nice, it's sort of warm-smelling', which believe me is praise indeed. He blanched a bit when I told him the price though...

Ahhh, L'air de rien = skanky elbow crooks for me, judy Grin

I love it, kittens, I've had a bottle on the go for years. My replacement Mitsouko came today too - that, 19 and LDR are the only things I repeat buy, otherwise I'm essentially a whore.

I thought nothing could top LADDM until I tried Au Coeur du Desert. It's the extrait and is even creamier and more intense.
I will be buying LADDM though as I can not afford it but I'm going to anyway

I couldn't find this thread and was panicking! Grin

SOTD was vintage Paris. Love love love.

Where did you try it Baroness? Do Les Senteurs offer this as part of their sample service?

OhWhat - I followed your tip on the last thread and tracked down some Amber Noir. Have only tested on paper so far, and yes, I see what you mean. (Although it strikes me as less rich and powdery but a tad more oudhy). It smells pretty good for £3 Smile. Wasn't so taken with some of the others (and didn't try the vanilla or rose oud).

Hello ladies, back again after a while away. Sotd is L'Heure Bleu which suits the damp overcast day here.

What's addict like? Never heard of it

Scent of day is - Diptyque Do Son. A bit brace as I'm on my way to business meeting in London, but I find it's projection and longevity isn't the best plus it feels quite sophisticated and is autumnal enough to match the weather today

Can I have your thoughts on Kenzo World ? I like the bottle, but it hasn't arrived here in SA yet.

MrsMacNally · 05/09/2017 09:25

Ah! Wish we could do that here Baroness.

Sounds nasty OhWhat - hope it wasn't the Amber Noir...

Having a minimalist day in black to match the skies - so giving PW/CdG's Girl a proper run-out. Yup, milky violet woods. Oddly sheer but not transparent. This is definitely the quality end of cheap thrills (as you'd guess given its provenance). To note though that TK Maxx seem to be selling the 10 ml and the 100ml (in the Kaws bottle) for the same price of £12.99...

Gucci Bloom anyone? Had a nice go of that in Boots yesterday think it might be a grower on me.

Scent of the day is Nina Ricci Premier Jour - an old fave of mine and very apt for today, my DD's first day of high school :)

I love vanilla and white florals but Addict just doesn't work for me at all - generic High St. I had a spritz yesterday and ... meh. I love Do Son though. My autumn fave is Narcisco EDP (the white one).

Ooh everyone is back! I shall have to go back to a FloofyCat related name Wink

Kittens if people on your commute aren't satisfactorily falling at your feet, may I recommend the tube station at Islington (is it Angel?) A stranger on the tube once licked my neck there Envy This is why I live oop North now Grin

Carrie I haven't tried World but I do like Kenzo perfumes - Amour is in my top hundred ten as it's so almondy.

It's pouring down here and I have spent a disgustingly huge amount of money on shoes and uniform. To add to my woes I spilt the remnants of my vintage Paris on my bedroom carpet Angry My bedroom smells amazing though

SOTD is MG Fire as it's officially Autumn - it's too rainy for it really. I sense a gap in my collection for a rainy Autumn day. I'm still working on my flow chart btw Wink

Hello everyone I'm new to the perfume thread. I'm wondering if you can help me find a scent. It's Demi Jour by Houbigant. I wore it for my wedding many years ago and it's my favourite summer perfume.
I can only get tiny 5ml bottles of the parfum on eBay, but can't find bigger bottles anywhere.
I ordered a Demi Jour by Dana from Amazon but it isn't the same at all (I did complain and got my money back).
Has anyone heard of it and know where I could source a larger bottle?
TIA

Hi Elfride, can't help you with the Houbigant I'm afraid - looks like it was discontinued a while ago so your best bet is probably to keep an eye on eBay. Hang around here though, you'll probably find something else you love!

SOTD is...POAL from my new Perfumista sample haul. Well, this is not what I expected at all tbh. All the reviews I've read suggest a dark, voluptuous, slightly dirty, slightly scary rose, with patchouli and amber etc. Dire warnings abound about spraying more than one squirt because it's so heady.

Well, I've got 3 squirts on, and all day I've had a polite, rather dusty rose with a lot of pencil shavings underneath. Absolutely nothing to frighten the horses at all. It reminds me very much of Clarins Par Amour (same roses-and-pencils theme) which is a lovely scent but nothing to get over-excited about.

I'm not sure whether I'm pleased or disappointed that it's so wearable! I wanted something a bit more blowsy and OTT, I think.

Knope - I was in Narcisco poudre yesterday- it's lovely and powdery a aunt name suggests. Really enjoyed wearing it. It was in the lovely sample box sent by John Lewis, filled with their bestsellers - anyone else get this?

Thanks for Addict description- will have to try that one. Whatis - I tried to find the Primark perfumes this weekend- could only see rose oud which smelt weird but was too scared 😳 to spray on my arm to properly test. Couldn't see amber noir but maybe I had a lucky escape if you had a reaction?!

Diptyque Do Son was disappointing - after four sprays (and stinking out the train) an hour into meeting it was barely detectable. I switched to E Coudray Iris Rose in the afternoon - it helped get me through some rather dry PowerPoint slides. It's an utterly gorgeous make up/ hairspray scent that I'm rather taken with at the moment (on my second sample and might buy a FB - it's reasonable at £65 for 100ml). Anyone else know any good perfumes evocative of lipstick?
