Talking of cardamon, I tracked down the Fragonard Santal Cardamome, which was love at first sniff, but after an hour or so developed an impossible to ignore bug killer vibe on me Sad.

So if it's not belting down with rain tomorrow I may just pop into Lush at lunchtime for a sniff of Cardamom Coffee.

Oooh do let me know what you think mrsmac!!

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 05/09/2017 20:30

Well now all I can think about is cardamom coffee cake. No idea why my brain jumped to cake, I just know that it would be delicious and I Need It.

Knope2020 · 05/09/2017 20:40

Mmmm
Cake...

ElfrideSwancourt · 05/09/2017 21:21

@MrsMacNally thanks so much for the tip- hadn't ever thought of European eBay - off to look now Smile

PerfumeIsAMessage · 05/09/2017 21:56

Other eBays are a magnificent Pandora's Box of delights!
I think the TF new perfume name is ridiculous. It makes the brand sound like it's aimed at 17 yr old streetwise kids who bunk off school and think they're cool. But they're wearing Victoria's Secret PMs not TF.Meh.

londonpia · 05/09/2017 22:00

I've no idea about notes or anything but hoping you can help me! I love the Black Opium (YSL?). I also like Alien. Is there anything on the cheaper side of things that is similar to either of these?

MrsMacNally · 05/09/2017 22:18

Judy/PiaM/Knope - am clearly failing to keep up as I had no idea there was a new TF with a controversial name...what is it?

It's Fucking Fabulous, Mrs

Classy, eh?

ThreeSangriasFloor · 05/09/2017 22:27

TF is a fucking pisstaker

MrsMacNally · 05/09/2017 22:28

Just looked at the notes - what no cumin?

New TF
SoTD Mitsouko because it is nice to smell something comforting when life sucks.

Need to get a Bollywood vibe for tomorrow, any suggestions?

PerfumeIsAMessage · 05/09/2017 22:37

Londonpia- you can get very good dupes for both of those from the Perfume Parlour. Both are supposed to be pretty spot on.

MrsMacNally · 05/09/2017 22:43

Thanks Pest. They're discussing possible flankers on Fragrantica Grin. Sounds like a stunt? Xyrena got there first and went the whole hog.

Will have a think about Bollywood...sounds intruiguing

Just found this thread!

I just bought Marc Jacobs Daisy Summer and wear day to day. And Clinique happy or aromatics elixir.

Jo Malone for nights, pomegranate noir. And I love Creed too.

I have afew bottle of L'occitain vairious bits too.

Ellie Saab is v nice.

My fave is armani Elle though.

Pestilentialone · 05/09/2017 22:54

Essentially TF is doing a social experiment, outrageous name, no advertising, relying on social media, limited amount of product, expect to be sold out in a day or two. Publicity stunt.

gets his brand new TF for free. What do we need to do to get the same.

How do I persuade Andy Tauer to send me a complete set of samples for free? I am not greedy, I am not asking for full bottles, though that would be nice. We could have a sniff party

Pestilentialone · 05/09/2017 23:01

Aldi have pomegranate noir candles in stock, they are not strong but pleasantly subtle. Fucking fabulous bargain at £3.99

MrsMacNally · 05/09/2017 23:05

Pest - grow a comedy 'tache?

OP posts:
PovertyJetset · 05/09/2017 23:08

pest great tip thank you !

MrsMacNally · 05/09/2017 23:26

And you could get almost 3.5 litres of Amber Noir for the price of a single 50ml bottle. [Fingers crossed my maths holds up...that's 34.16 x 100ml @ £6].

Welcome Londonpia and PovertyJetset. Calm might be well placed to advise re: alternatives Black Opium?

Pest - back to Bollywood, how about Midnight in the Palace Garden or Babylon Sunset?

Anyone have any experience with Guerlain Mahora. Just been reading the notes on Fragrantica and am now slightly obsessed....

ThreeSangriasFloor · 05/09/2017 23:47

?

GreenPolishToGo · 06/09/2017 00:10

Here you all are! Thank you for the shiny new thread MrsMac.Smile

I am grinning like the Cheshire Cat because I have just finished off a perfume packed summer (the fabulous 4160 Tuesdays MN workshop and the Somerset House exhibition) with a trip to the Guerlain flagship store on the Champs-Élysées. And, oh, it is a palace of perfume!

I sniffed all sorts of gorgeous things in amazingly beautiful bee bottles and could have come home happily with more than half the shop. Tonka Impériale and Spiriteuse Double Vanille from the exclusive collections were both heavenly.

After much dithering and swithering I plumped for a bottle of the incredibly beautiful and infinitely grande dame L'Heure Bleue, which the very nice and helpful assistant (whose English was a jolly sight better than my French) took to get engraved with my name before packing it up in a very, very posh Guerlain bag stuffed with samples and tied up with a fancy ribbon.

The exchange rate is, sadly, most definitely not in our favour at the moment, but if you get the chance do go. It was a wonderful experience.
