We'll go anywhere in search of things that smell great, and then we discuss them here. Feel free to join us.

Ps really want to try LADDM now

Where can I get a sample? I smelt it at Somerset House but wasn't particularly taken by it on the day, but want to try it on my skin to see if I feel differently. I could just smell vanilla cookies on the paint pots, I would like to smell it on skin

Kittens - that's what I think about POAL- it's a nice generic rose (I shall get my coat forthwith as I know most members of this thread love it!)
Had a chance to sniff all the bottles in dcousin's room. PM one and all. Can't even list how many but each and every one is heavy, sweet and pink smelling. Grin

Bluebell you can get Tauer samples from Les Senteurs or Perfumista. Well worth a cheeky order Wink

I was very taken with POAL but it's not for me
Too grown up maybe? I got images of Victorian drawing rooms and fake flowers under glass...NOT the rose for me

FB of NR poudre would be a good investment Knope - it's a versatile perfume you could wear casually or dressed up in smart business attire. It's soft feminine and classic but definitely not boring! I was very impressed by its longevity too

Yep Halo

Thanks for the FM tip Knope and les senteurs reminder kittens - where is the nearest tube? I need to visit SOON ....possibly tomorrow if my meeting finishes early enough! Saves me the £50 train ticket and perfume shops where I live are so very boring.

SOTD is Mitsouko. I am done with summer, autumn is go.

I was back at the dentist today and was (gulp) officially discharged. I've to go back in three months just for a general check, but hopefully I'm done with treatment. I think I went quite mad in the summer holidays between the non-stop toothache and the all-encompassing anxiety that I was going to end up with no teeth. We're going to look at a wee flexible partial denture to replace the tooth I had out - it's at the back but I feel quite self-conscious. (Def not a good candidate for an implant - FAR too nervous!)

Elfride - loads of larger bottles on eBay.de - none are super cheap though. Great vintage print ads too.

SOTD was Paris again.

Addict is delicious, for those wondering. Dark vanilla and narcotic white flowers. Fabulous stuff.

Still haven't sniffed POAL.

Discharge is great news Judy.

September/Floof - yes, can see why you moved north...

Bring on that diagram Grin.

And on seasonal choices, yes, what are people's top picks for wet autumn days?

Also, why are all the new white flower scents being released in...September Confused?

Great news Judy! I got moved from 3 monthly check ups last time to 6 monthly and it really is nerve wracking.

Yesterday's sotd was that new Because of You one. Very light and forgettable. Today started off with Goodbye Picadilly but then my Amazon Prime order of White Diamonds arrived and demanded an outing . Cor! I don't know the technical term for the opening note but whatever it is is very 80s (even though White Diamonds isn't!). Does settle into a nice calm white floral though. I like it and it really is good value.

Bamboo was mentioned earlier - I like it. In laws got it for me for Christmas and I'd happily have it again. Find it a very reliable scent.

Might have to find some Addict - sounds lovely. Not yet though, obviously. Also getting more tempted by Scent Addict... I did think I might as well just get samples but am convincing myself that this would help limit the spending. Hmmm...

I don't think It's been mentioned here yet but what do you make of the new TF? I do like the sound of it (love me some almonds) but would have to hide the bottle now DS1 is starting to read...

Thanks, all - it has been a nightmare but I am cautiously optimistic. I just need DP to get a job so my strsss level goes down and I can stop the bloody bruxism which is the root (ha) cause of all of it.

I tried Chanel Gabrielle today. Meh. Pleasant enough, but it could have been a £20 from M&S job.

I love almonds, but it seems daft for a reputable perfumer like TF to pull this sort of stunt with the name. I feel like it cheapens the brand overall, when the whole personality is built on luxe. I know it's got everyone talking, so PR-wise it's a win, but from an advertising perspective the ASA would stop it before it started. And surely it would be limited in terms of distribution outlets? I guess TF is bigger than the marketing and promotional mix.
