We'll go anywhere in search of things that smell great, and then we discuss them here. Feel free to join us.

Benzoin is what smells of old books Floofy. Heeley Eau Sacree gets added to the try list.

MrsMacNally · 21/09/2017 20:28

Hope this works, prototypes for Pest and Green. Need better software...

Aw, MrsMac you even did green lettering for me! Smile

I saw an undoubted Pink Minger called Fairy Juice in my local chemist's today and sniggered at the thought of fairies in a blender. DS thinks I have a sick mind...

Could no longer resist. Despite being completely skint this month, have ordered the following from Roullier White Blush. They are all 2ml samples so not too bad. Hopefully there will be some loves in this little lot.

4160 Tuesdays - Ealing Green (EdP)
4160 Tuesdays - Invisible Ben (EdP)
4160 Tuesdays - Shazam! (EdP)
Imaginary Authors - Violet Disguise (EdP)
Imaginary Authours - Yesterday Haze (EdP)
Histoires de Parfums - Olympia, Music Hall (EdP)
A Lab On Fire - What We Do In Paris Is Secret (EdP)
A Lab On Fire - Rose Rebelle Respawn (EdT)
A Lab On Fire - Paris*L.A. (EdP)

I'm up for perfume sample swaps. I've been through my vast collection and can offer up the following. All very decent houses and nice perfumes, but either duplicates/ or don't suit my skin/ my tastes. All are 1-2ml spray samples unless specified.

La Femme Prada Intense
Annick Goutal Rose Pompon
Penhalligons Halfeti
Jean Patou Joy (dab not spray sample)
Maison Francis Kurkdijan Aqua Celestia (half of this sample has been used)
Miller Harris Etui Noir (4ml approx)
Parfums de Marly Delina
Pell Well Equisetum (dab not spray sample for all Pell Wells)
Pell Well Orange Spice
Pell Well Devana (half of sample)
Pell Well Tempus Ludendi
Pell Well Anjin

Clearly I find Pell Well too challenging- I've only kept half of the samples I've bought from them. They are too green, animalic or masculine for me.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 21/09/2017 21:56

Anyone seen the Chemical Poetry sign up? Perfume box thingy, launched Saturday. I got a discount for it, signed up for birthday present to myself. I was a bit hmm, when my card didn't go through about three times. But it finally did. (Sites in beta and a bit shit) Then got email today to say card was declined (there's money in there) I'm hesitant to send details again.

MrsMacNally · 21/09/2017 22:01

Think the 20% of my 4160s I wear 80% of the time all last a decent length of time and some are exceptional. (My frequent go-tos are Shazam! Who Knew The Great Randello, Babylon Sunset, Paris 1948, and now, Rome 1963). I'd wear Flora Psychedelica, Parallel and Centrepiece and MitPG more if I wasn't so worried about running out....

Phew, long day - over five hours travelling for a three hour meeting. SOTD was Chanel 19. Still threatening this bloody cold, but managing to keep it at bay. Hope everyone's okay today.

Pestilentialone · 21/09/2017 22:32

The Chemical Poetry thing is interesting. BUT for £22.95 a month I want to know how much juice I am getting at least roughly. I want to see some sample boxes. They have minimal twitter presence and are obviously a start up, need more info, please.

Blue may be better at bankrupting people than me Grin [[http://www.roullierwhite.com/the-perfumery-274-c.asp Roullier White]] is very good for fantasy shopping. Look at the list I knocked up for roughly the same as Chemical Poetry.

Well done Judy Gin

BluebellGal · 21/09/2017 22:50

Doh! It's Pell Wall not Pell Well Blush

Pest - I agree with you, I wouldn't sign up to something when I don't know what I'm getting.

Judy - hope you have a more restful day tomorrow and get over the cold

Kittens - that looks like a good haul. I'm off to check out roullier white now Grin

Pestilentialone · 21/09/2017 22:57

Time for bed, I can't tell Kittens from Blue

MrsMacNally · 21/09/2017 23:22

Like the LT quote.

90 sprays sounds like 3 x 3ml? Sounds expensive compared to Bloom's 6 samples a month = 72 a year for £120? (And at least you can see how Bloom have been putting things together?).

I like their free-format fragrance finder even if did pick me a Beaufort on the first run-out

And there is another Elephant in the room - Zoologist have brought one out with violet, coconut milk and sandalwood. It's going on the sniff list...

Argh! Why do I do this to myself - fall in love with discontinued perfumes that will cost me a fortune.
Tried the PP dupe of Midnight Poison and really liked it - musky citrus but no Rose on me. So when I saw a decant of the original MP on Ebay I thought I'd give it a go - if only to see how true the original the PP dupe was.
And sadly ( if not unsurprisingly), the original is in a different class - softer, muskier and just more put together - I can smell the rose as well now. So now I have another expensive decant habit on top of hunting down 2012 Dior Addict and am deeply dissatisfied with a PP dupe I really liked.
In the (nearly)words of the James song - If I hadn't smelt such riches I could live with being poor (and the PP dupe!)

boldlygoingsomewhere · 22/09/2017 06:38

I'd be reluctant to sign up to something where I don't know what I was getting too!

Puppy it's very frustrating when that happens.

My nottle of Shazam arrived yesterday and included and sample of Mother Nature's Naughty Daughters. Unfortunately, Les Senteurs can't provide a sample of Nuit de Noel.Sad It's the one I most wanted to try too!

SOTD is Rome 1963 again - finding the tobacco very comforting.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 22/09/2017 07:40

Yeah, I'm writing this off to experience. There were 3 bottles (4ml) a month. I got early start discount, but still. I'm keeping an eye on the cc and they may get a snotty email to say their payment software is shite.
No sotd as I'm cooking in school. But randomly the pp sprays that went awol months ago turned up, on the side table of mystery still packaged.
Anyway, I've decided I don't like their vol de nuit dupe.

YouAndYourFloofyCatNose · 22/09/2017 07:43

Gosh I love this thread, I wake up to James quotes and the Pareto Analysis Grin and minger badges Grin

I think retailers/start ups are catching onto the sample/trial thing, I wonder if this related to the rise in advent calendar love? Be interesting to see how they go, I'm a bit suspicious of card declining sites and have also seen a rise of Cheeky Fuckers on EBay, both as a buyer and seller. Have one none payer and one none sender already this week Angry

Please don't think me rude if I hover at the sidelines of the sample swapping (which I think is brilliant idea) as it's only because my brain is trying to cope with organising the six perfume advent calendars I have foolishly started Smile and adding more sample getting or giving to the mix might actually cause my brain to melt out of my eyes GrinI will of course offer anything I have if it is mentioned!

Kittens I haven't tried Lab on Fire but v interested to hear your verdict on the 4160s, Ealing Green is just amazing and in my top eleven million ten. I love that it's inspired by Shakespeare. I have a feeling in the Venn diagram of Perfumistas' Loves, history would be in there too. And also venturing a guess on lipstick also?

SOTD is D and G The One again, I'm bidding on a full bottle at the moment Blush

Hope everyone is having a stress free week and ready for a relaxing weekend Smile

PerfumeIsAMessage · 22/09/2017 08:05

Love waking up to lots of interesting and funny posts!

Eau Sacree now gone on my list of things to try. (the incense thingummy is a thurible I think, (dd was briefly an altar girl and they had to have lessons on the correct "swing" Grin)

ScentOfThe25SecondsItLasted was Eau du Lierre Diptique, an old Nose sample I fished out. I was expecting some lovely deep bitter green. Instead it's like a watered down version of Davidoff water thingy and Aqua di Gio's lovechild. Now, 45 minutes after 4 good sprays I get a vague hint of "this is the shower gel I used last night" sort of thing lingering on my skin. This time it's not just me though, the reviewers were all pretty meh as well.

PerfumeIsAMessage · 22/09/2017 08:06

Love the badges! Grin

Badders08 · 22/09/2017 08:09

Love the james quote
Ds2 still off school and looking pale
I'm in today - ugh
Dior addict for me today - get so many compliments on this scent

Badders08 · 22/09/2017 08:14

Oh! Samples!
I tried them last night..couldnt wait any longer!
Sadly I'm still a bit bunged up but here are my thoughts;
LRL - hmm. I don't like this. On paper I really should bit to me it smells of playdoh! Had to scrub this one 😔
TDHOOH - oooh I like this one! It's really lovely. Warm and hot. Dh hated it though so I shall either wear it when he's away or in order to annoy him 😁

OCSockOrphanage · 22/09/2017 08:45

I have been good, apart from buying DS's scented present, but have just weakened -thanks to the enabling tendency here- and pressed buy on a Zoologist sample set, not even fuelled by Wine. Something to look forward to!

Cin3ma · 22/09/2017 09:48

Morning all!

PIAM - 4160T perfumes tend to have low-moderate projection but excellent longevity on me, as a rule. Ealing Green is possibly the exception to this - it projects very well on me (much to DH's horror Grin...he says it smells like 1980s aftershave with lawnmower cuttings).

Puppy, I have been wanting to try Midnight Poison for ages .
I can never find a sample that seems fairly priced and from a reliable source, though Sad. The notes sound delicious.

Kittens - love the sound of your haul!

Badders - hope DS feels better soon. We're all fending off swollen glands and sore throats in our house at the moment. DH is a great believer in useless over the counter remedies, so there is a lot of Lemsi, Vics and Night Nurse floating about our household. I'm playing ball at this point, because its worse when he gets on a herbal remedies roll Grin.

SOTD is YSL Manifesto Elixir. I'm really liking this. Its a bit like the lovechild of Addict and Kenzo Amour, but lighter and with a spritz of something citrusy in the dry down. All the Fragrantica reviews say its a 'shexxxxshy night time scent', but I am wearing it in my office in an rather down at heel educational establishment in broad daylight and feeling marvellous Grin.

I'm on another futile perfume buying ban right now. God, its dull. Might have to hit a car boot sale this weekend Grin.

MrsMacNally · 22/09/2017 09:57

OC - where did you order your Zoologist from? Would love to find a GB distributor of their travel sizes.
