Oh dear, oh dear, DD has her first lectures today and has woken up with a throat like "broken glass", and she is five hours away from me, cuddly cats, eiderdowns, hot water bottles etc. I have come over all mother hen - and it is no use to her at all.
PIAM surely that has to be modern Y you're unenthused about? Vintage Y is a wonderful warm, green, mossy scent which always makes me think of a freshly cut lawn after a summer shower.
Don't hang your head in shame! I do like Doe in the Snow very much but I think of it as a sparkling cold peach sorbet, and not a chypre. And you are allowed not to like all 4160 Tuesdays!
I dont know what the modern Arpége is like Squash but vintage Eau Arpége (which is just Arpége at EdT strength) is a pretty, slightly soapy, aldehydic floral. A very groomed sort of scent, I think. Barbara Herman says First (which I've never smelt) is similar to Arpége so that's quite promising.
SOTD is Vol de Nuit from a bargainous Ebay fag end of a bottle. Oh it is heavenly, just like an amped-up Miss Dior (the original, not the pink identity thief), all green, mossy, leathery and powdery. I think I shall have to hunt down some more.
Get well soon everyone.
