What a lovely treat - a whole day's worth of posts plus more of Pest's excellent links. Have made a cup of coffee and will have a leisurely proper read in a mo.
Made it to Lush today and was impressed with several of their new scents. Quick, first impressions:
Cardamom Coffee (tested on skin & paper) - opens with an emphasis on the coffee (plus herbal and oud woody notes). Cardamon comes out as a heart note when the whole thing gets sweeter, and more floral (rose). This is very nice, but am a slightly put off by the henna note in the opening, and towards the end, the occasional very slightly stinky whiff of oud which doesn't sit comfortably with the otherwise gourmand vibe.
Rentless (tested on paper) patch and grapefruit (which, combined, smell aromatic and uplifting, a bit like rosemary & pine) plus comforting and rich tonka and labdanum underneath. Unusual as these seem to sit concurrently, rather than blending completely together. Tauer fans - will be interested to see what you make of this?
What Would Love do (tested on skin) a very easy to love aromatic tangerine and lavender on a great big cushion of soapy, comforting benzoin. Straightforward and very enjoyable. (Bit like the clean/comforting citrus/amber effect in Les Nuits D'Hadrien).
Amelie Mae (tested on paper) - a flirty fruity floral; don't worry not especially sweet. (Dry-down has a slightly chemically quality on paper). Need to try again on skin.
I'm Home (sniffed fleetingly) - sweet fudge. Not for me.
