We'll go anywhere in search of things that smell great, and then we discuss them here. Feel free to join us.

Exploding I have some Ros Ribes and thought it was a bit meh! I will try it again.

Yep MrsM Centrepiece is the half price offer this week.

PiM I also have Lady Rose Lion and have only sniffed it once, not sure why. Another one to have a wear of. I shall try it tomorrow whilst digging out a pond. Will need something reasonably strong Grin

GreenPolishToGo · 15/09/2017 18:57

Finally, finally made it to TK Maxx! Actually two of them as the first only had one Library of Fragrance - Fig Leaf, which came home with me and smells beautifully green. The second branch was much better stocked with LoF and, as I'm not likely to bump into them at £4.99 for 30ml again, I broke out disgracefully and also nabbed Fresh Coconut, Gingerbread, Honeysuckle, Salt Air and Fresh Laundry.Grin

There were stacks of perfume in both branches. I also saw SJP Stash, Agent Provocateur, different Issey Miyakes, lots of Elizabeth Arden Green Tea flankers, Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds, Lanvin Arpege and loads of celeb stuff. Vent Vert was £29.99 here so I left it. I do have my heavenly vintage Cellier Vent Vert anyway (thank you PIAM).

I like chypres, greens, citruses, roses, galbanum, gourmands and orientals. Oh and the odd woody and aldehyde type too. Clearly I am very fickle.

This week's half price 4160 Tuesday scent is Centrepiece so I think I am going to be very poor. The notes are musk, frangipani blossom, honey, green tea and cedarwood. I have a sample and it is delicious.

Today's sample from the pile of untrieds was Elizabeth Arden White Tea, which smelt of soapy aftershave and was really rather nasty. Fortunately it faded quickly. SOTD was 4160s Silk, Lace and Chocolate, a gorgeous gourmand with real cocoa - it smells good enough to eat and the longevity is amazing.

GreenPolishToGo · 15/09/2017 19:07

Bah x-posted on Centrepiece! But I also meant to say thank you for the fascinating article Cat. Goodbye Piccadilly, 4160's suffragette scent also has violets. I suppose, now I think of it, because the WSPU colours were violet, green and white.

Judydreamsofhorses · 15/09/2017 19:15

SOTD is Tauer Lonestar Memories for a day of lashing rain. So pleased it's Friday and to be home and cosy with a purring cat on my lap and spaghetti carbonara being whipped up next door. Have lovely weekends, everyone!

explodingkittens · 15/09/2017 19:51

The Gingembre has lasted wonderfully. I've been in a gingery spicy fug all day, delicious. Now on the sofa with wine, pizza and Echo & the Bunnymen on TOTP - bliss! Although my diet has gone somewhat south recently...never mind, perfume doesn't care if I'm half a stone overweight Grin

Not sure what to wear scent-wise for this wedding tomorrow. I bought a new frock and when I tried it on the other day I kidded myself I was channeling a 'Lauren Hutton at Studio 54' look...but in truth I fear I may be more 'Su Pollard at Wetherspoon's' instead. Is there a perfume out there that covers both of those bases?!

MrsMacNally · 15/09/2017 20:14

Have you got any Halston EK?

Judydreamsofhorses · 15/09/2017 22:06

mrsmacnally I missed your post on Wrappings. To me it's quite fresh and green, but it has a slightly more spicy heart once it has been on the go a while. It's marketed as a Christmas scent now, and comes out as a limited edition, but while I suppose it can be a bit pine-y, I don't get much warmth from it which is what I associate with winter. I think it's a very "elegant" scent, quite grown-up.

Judydreamsofhorses · 15/09/2017 22:08

God, that was the shittest description ever. Luca Turin, eat your heart out. I can do you some on a card if you want, just shout.

MrsMacNally · 15/09/2017 22:37

That's a great description Judy, thank you.

While I like looking up notes on Fragrantica, I usually don't get any idea at all from them what something will smell like overall! I like reading reviews, but wow, they are so very varied!

So it's so very special here to be able to exchange notes with the same people over time Flowers

Greeny I'm incredibly fickle, too. I like orientals, gourmands, chypre, white florals and greens. I wore Sior Addict last night, Chloe Love Story today and an Arabian attar tonight. I'm in the mood for Jade tomorrow. That should give you an idea of my weirdy tastes Grin.

Kicking myself I didn't get me some 4160T Midnight in the Palace Garden when it was on FB. £90 a bottle? Delectable but do me a favour?!?!

(I opted for swapping my LVEB for YSL Cinema with my perfume mate, btw. I feel very smug).

3DGlasses · 15/09/2017 23:40

Dior addict!

PerfumeIsAMessage · 16/09/2017 08:00

Eau d'Hadrien this morning. Sample is coming to an end, so it's going to have to be a FB some time soon. I suppose as it's holiday-smell-in-a-bottle to me, I'll probably not feel the absolute urge for it for much longer this year! It reminds me of Bergasol sun lotion which was just the most wonderful smelling (bergamot obviously) blue gel.

DD says I smell nice "for once" Grin

Badders08 · 16/09/2017 08:16

😁 kids!
Dh back today...yay!
Ds1 has lots of honework. Ds2 is off to a party.
I shall be doing dhs washing! I might take mum out for a while if I get time.
I might pull out knowing today. It's a bit grey and cold 😔

Badders08 · 16/09/2017 08:16

LOVE bergamot!

Badders08 · 16/09/2017 08:17

3 i find addict a lovely scent to wear to bed 😁

MrsMacNally · 16/09/2017 10:12

3 If you are quick and go to the 4160 site whilst the summer sale is still up, then go into 'bestsellers back from their adventures' you will find 30ml Midnight in the Palace Garden for £56.

There are many things to love about 4160s; they are hand-making perfume in small quantities using great ingredients but still price them as accessibly as they can .

Their pricing structure now reflects material costs - supplements apply to some things. As a skint-perfumista I'm glad they do this, rather than applying an across the board hike. I also like their 9mls and half price weekly offers, which keep beautiful and interesting things within my reach Smile.

3 - so, so sorry, have just tried to add 30ml to basket and it's sold out Blush. You can still get a great price on 100ml - but that's quite an investment (or a great Xmas present!).

SoTD is Lady Rose Lion, my DM had something like this in the 70s. So probably either Caron or Coty. I'm going to sniff, dig and think about it.

PerfumeIsAMessage · 16/09/2017 11:42

I'm going to go and have a schmoozy round the 4160 website.

Just booked holiday for next August (same place as this year, just love it) and got almost £500 discount so.....Wink

3DGlasses · 16/09/2017 12:10

Thanks, MrsMac! I wasn't quick enough...deffo on the Christmas list now Grin.

I've been wearing Addict or Kenzo Amour to bed every night for a few weeks now, Badders. Delicious.

SOTD Lancome Poeme. Havent worn this in months and forgot how much I love it.

MrsMacNally · 16/09/2017 12:30

3 Not sure if their after-Xmas sale will be as good as last year but the complete set of The Crimes of Passion (9mls) were briefly available for a fraction of their current cost.

I fancy shazam, lady rose lion and Piccadilly....

boldlygoingsomewhere · 16/09/2017 13:04

Badders, I'm waiting for Shazam to come on offer so I can buy a bottle. I've only got a sample size at the moment but I'm loving it. It's a lovely, warm, spicy scent with a hint of incense. Gorgeous at this time of year.

I think I may have a spare sample of Lady Rose Lion - travelling back from holiday at the moment but will check when I get back home. I'd be happy to send it to you.

Badders08 · 16/09/2017 13:04

That's very kind! Thank you x

YouAndYourFloofyCatNose · 16/09/2017 14:02

Well, who wouldn't want to smell like an ice cream parlour?! I love the frangipani in this so much.

SOTD is a very comforting Nina Ricci L'eau - verging towards PM but redeemed by the cherries. It's a lovely Autumn perfume for me. DH has gently suggested I have a rest day (he normally wouldn't interfere but I know I have been doing too much and as he is the one that picks up the pieces, I have conceded defeat) and I am in bed. I do have lipstick, perfume and pearls on - there is a minimum standard after all Grin

Thinking about it, I don't think I have met a Nina Ricci perfume I haven't liked and I can't say that for all perfume houses.

I'm also very tempted by the Gingembre - I have a bottle of Library of Fragrance Gingerbread stashed in my drawer for DD's birthday and I'm resisting breaking it out Grin I have just eaten a whole tub of mini flapjacks Blush so I probably smell of syrup anyway Wink

Hope all Perfumistas are having a stress free and nicely scented weekend!
