Oooh I'm tempted....

YouAndYourFloofyCatNose · 12/09/2017 17:20

I hope your DD settles in well PIAM, start of big school is so terrifying for the parents isn't it? It must be interesting being at the same school, but very useful knowing her teachers! One of my DCs went to a special school and I knew a few of the teachers "out of school" via DC's SN, it felt a bit weird at first but surprisingly quickly felt as though they were "teacher x" rather than anything else. If that makes sense!

Talking of Zoflora, DH dropped a bottle of pink grapefruit (limited edition, amazing) in the bathroom earlier and the whole top floor of our house smells very...citrussy. I think it's actually my SOTD!

Badders08 · 12/09/2017 17:22

Big day for you all piam Flowers
I love the cinnamon Apple zoflora. The hyacinth one too

Pestilentialone · 12/09/2017 17:28

Sounds good to me Floofy , am also tempted by Petale Noir, anyone tried it?
SoTD is Tea for Two, I smell like chai with loads of honey Grin

GreenPolishToGo · 12/09/2017 17:42

Another Agent Provocateur fan here Badders. Floofy is bang on the nose - it is a wonderful blowsy, dirty rose and it's also powdery. Thought that would grab your attention. Grin

Hello Cat. I have to confess I also thought your user name was derived from "My Cat Likes To Hide In Boxes" which was a firm favourite when DS was tiny.

You are a dreadful set of temptresses and I am now twitching for a trip to TK Maxx. Instead I am in the throes of kitting out the first born with lots of dull necessities for uni - eek, how did she get that old?! A stack of samples will also be heading off with her so I might need to hunt out some more...Wink

SOTD started off as a sample of Nina Ricci Nina which was a bit of a pink minger. Once scrubbed off I spritzed on Atelier Cologne Bergamot Soleil to celebrate the sunny weather. It lashed down half an hour later but at least I smell of sunshine.

3DGlasses · 12/09/2017 17:52

Hiya PIAM. Welcome back! Hope your DD settles in OK.

I do like a spot of Paris Premieres Roses. Very...rosy Grin.

And I NEED hyacinth Zoflora in my life! My local supermarket only sells Spring, Bouquet, Citrus and Twilight. I might start a one-woman campaign to get all the flavours in stock...

I've just got home from a really shit day at work and have liberally applied Queen by Queen Latifah. Its very, very similar to 4160T's Captured By Candelight - a boozy, spicy wrist-sniffer.

The Agent Provocateur sounds promising. Powdery rose with a bit of filth...I'm in! when I clear my credit card balance Wink

GreenPolishToGo · 12/09/2017 18:07

Best of luck to your DD PIAM. I hope the first day went well.

Floofy my DD has also fallen in love with Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo Mandorlo di Sicilia, which is such a mouthful of a name I think of it as Floofy's Marzipan.

Badders08 · 12/09/2017 18:37

Sigh
I've ordered it
You enablers 😂❤

explodingkittens · 12/09/2017 18:40

I have a soft spot for Nina, green, although can definitely see how it could tip over into PM territory. Such a cute wee bottle though...

Ugh, just want to crawl into bed and never get up. Have a really tricky and stressful week or so coming up at work and am utterly dreading the next few days. Plus a big wedding on Saturday which I should be looking forward to but, for a variety of reasons, am not. I need some amazing smells to prop me up!

PIAM, hope dd is ok!

Badders08 · 12/09/2017 18:42

Oh exploding that sounds hard Flowers

Judydreamsofhorses · 12/09/2017 18:59

floofy message me your address and I'll stick it in the post.

piam I hope things go well for your daughter.

kittens I feel similar - two of my colleagues have been off with a killer cold in the last fortnight, and I feel like I've been fighting it off for the same amount of time. I always have such a dilemma with colds, because I tend to get really, really ill, not able to speak etc, but there is such pressure not to be off work, which means I end up unwell for weeks on end with something that would be easily seen off with a couple of days in bed.

Anyway, SOTD is JM Wood Sage again. I really do like this and wish it had more staying power.

Badders08 · 12/09/2017 19:03

Lots of year 6s off at my school with a cold
Will be a Bad flu winter by all accounts....

Judydreamsofhorses · 12/09/2017 19:06

I booked my flu jab today, badders. It is the only freebie we get. Last year they wouldn't do it because I had tonsillitis (although was still at work, dying!) and I ended up with either the worst cold I have ever had in my entire life, or flu, in December, and having a week off sick.

Badders08 · 12/09/2017 19:08

Mines booked for next week judy
Sadly I still got that awful respitory bug doing the rounds last year...7 weeks in total :(
Ill all over xmas and new year and Was signed off for a week in the end

thecatfromjapan · 12/09/2017 19:41

Pestilentialone Thank you! I really do love iris. I've never smelled this but I suspect I'll love it.

PerfumeIsAMessage My daughter wears Premieres Roses. She stole it from me and now leaves the house in a trail of summer.

My son is lying on the sofa, snuggling. I love the idea that you can tell it's going to be a bad flu winter by the number of colds in the first few weeks of Year 6. Bit like being able to tell if a storm is coming if the cows lie down.

My room smells of "L'air de rien" this evening, owing to me having dropped the bottle on the floor and partially smashed it earlier today. I'm most upset. I still smell of "Terre d'Iris" but it's really not warm enough for the weather.

Badders08 · 12/09/2017 19:42

Ha!
No sorry.
It's data from the nhs!

thecatfromjapan · 12/09/2017 19:43

September That looks like a lovely book. Dd is chucking out many of her childhood books at the moment and I'm secretly squirrelling them away, so that I can re-read them and remember reading them with her and her brother.

explodingkittens · 12/09/2017 19:51

Thanks all, apologies for the moaning though! I've just taken on a huge new role at work and, whilst it will be fabulous for my CV/career in the end, is currently just a barrage of new information/responsibilities/admin/generalised shite. I feel utterly overwhelmed at the moment and am being a terrible mother and partner, as I just get home every evening exhausted, in a foul mood and am good for nothing. I simply cannot afford to be ill as well!

Flowers for everyone else who's feeling crap or stressed or under the weather. Thank god for this thread and finding sanctuary in lovely scents!

Judydreamsofhorses · 12/09/2017 20:00

Oh, kittens, poor you. Is it set to get easier? I am certain you are not being a terrible mother or partner. We are all so hard on ourselves when we would all be far kinder to others in the same boat.

badders, I think that's the thing I had. It started at the beginning of December - the day we put the tree up, so about the 9th - and I was still struggling into January. I needed antibiotics in the end as it turned into a vile sinus infection. I should have gone and got a med cert instead of going back to work when I ran out of "self cert" time, but I didn't want to bother the doctor with a cold. (Laughs hollowly.)

Badders08 · 12/09/2017 20:08

Yes I came down with it about 12th...

OCSockOrphanage · 12/09/2017 20:28

MrsMacNally, I had a sample of Safran Troublant but yonks ago. I liked it, not a love affair but used it all. It didn't last especially well on me, or speak.

Thanks to the temptresses, I had a troll round TKMaxx this afternoon and the local selection wasn't thrilling. I did dither over 50ml of Terre d'Iris or 100ml of Cassis en Feu

OCSockOrphanage · 12/09/2017 20:33

..ille at £30 or £40 but decided against. I like them both but not enough, until I am employed properly. However, my 30-45 minute telephone interview lasted 56 minutes, and I have been told age is not against me on this occasion, and the next steps and hurdles. Fingers still crossed.

Badders08 · 12/09/2017 20:34

🤞

MrsMacNally · 12/09/2017 21:26

Evening All!

Flowers for uni starters and their mothers, and for all ill or stressed perfumistas think that covers all of us, at least once-

Good luck OC - sounds exceptionally promising. Think I need career tips from you and EK ...I ate half a christmas pudding at the weekend - having a bit of an existential crisis triggered by work stuff.

Talking of which (pudding not existential crises), I foolish let go of my FB bottle of Captured by Candlelight (a very kind gift from my sister) because a) I worried it made me smell like a problem drinker, and b) it didn't seem quite dark enough. School girl errors. Shouldn't've given a fig about the former, and layering, perhaps with a dark woody fig or spicy coffee, would have sorted the latter. I have the same issue with Arabie - so I think I must just like my puddings exceptionally mature! ( Calm and MrsS - I would love to have tested a 50/50 blend of your two concoctions! Hope that's not sacrilege?).

Have been in Chinatown today - it's lovely and not at all what I expected. I tend to assume orientals will be amber-based powerhouses. This is part-green and part-like a familiar smelling but (so far) elusive item from my old school stationery cupboard (I think)? Someone describes it as smelling like a an unlit cardamon joss stick which is close, but it's waxier than that. Going to be lying awake tonight trying to bring this to mind...

Right, so nice jobs for the for weekend now include...tracking down Zoflora (hyacinth) and the Wilko wipes in the white and green packet (rolled over from last week).

Trying to stay away from TK Maxx until at least October...Unless Or Black, or anything from L'A, SL or JhaG begins to turn-up...know you'll all keep me posted Smile
