Thank you for all the good wishes, you're all lovely (and have excellent taste Grin)

Green- good luck for dd at university- I remember my own departure and not wanting to go (boyfriend at home, durrrr) and my Mum shoving me in the car and taking me unceremoniously. I know now how hard that must have been for her as well, but it was so the best thing I ever did.

Judy- agree about the JM sage- I am currently also burning the Yankee Candle melt with the same (or very similar) name. That doesn't spread through the house like most melts do either. Must be the combination of notes.

OC- interview sounds good! Fingers crossed!

Kittens- hope your week gets better.

Hope you all fight the lurgy off. We are in hot mosquito weather again after torrential downpours.

I am in Vent Vert today (from the massive bottle I got from ebay- so it doesn't last very long tbh) the teeny very vintage one I have never gets opened except to sniff in all its sharp green glory.

explodingkittens · 13/09/2017 07:49

SOTD is Amour Nocturne, inspired by Mrs. I LOVE this. Love it. The notes suggest that it's gunpowder and caramel - however on me it's creamy, smoky, figgy goodness. Like an autumnal Philosykos, just gorgeous.

BluebellGal · 13/09/2017 08:16

Sorry to hear about all the work stress and lurgy Flowers I've had my fair share of that too with a little one at nursery and full on job, am a little stressed but have a spa day booked for tomorrow with DH (just centre parcs but I love it!)

Does anyone know Clinique Aromatics Exlir? My child came back from grandma's yesterday and smelt very strongly of it. This morning I can still smell it on her. Wow it's powerful stuff. I don't actually like it and wondering what it is I don't like. It's smells musty and bitter to me. Also smelt a lady walking down street last week wearing it - it has massive silage and is very distinctive

Looking forward to all the lovely smells at world of spa Grin

Pestilentialone · 13/09/2017 08:47

Could be the chamomile blue , I think mixed with oak moss and patchouli, would bring out the elements that made me think of mouldy old books with a liberal coating of dust.

GreenPolishToGo · 13/09/2017 11:15

Ooh, Bluebell, Aromatics Elixir - love, love, love! Such a mossy, bitter green powerhouse of a scent. It reeks of sophistication to me but a little goes a very long way. It should have a warning: "Use sparingly!" on every bottle.

Cat I shall mourn for your L'Air de Rien with you. I got a sample of it in a Perfume Society box and it didn't do much for me at the time. I passed it on to to DD who was equally unenthusiastic and we both forgot about it. But mentions of it kept popping up from perfumistas with similar tastes to mine, so I gave it another try and found it weirdly lovely in a 1970s left-over hippie in a dusty kaftan fashion. So it is now on the wish-list and it is mostly because of you Judy.

MrsMac you need another Captured by Candlelight by Christmas time. Layering it over a coffee scent sounds inspired. I'm now kicking myself for not pouncing on 4160s Black Velvet Café when it was half-price. I thought it too dark for me but now I think it might pair perfectly with C by C.

SOTD is Frederic Malle Angélique Sous La Pluie from a Les Senteurs sample, which is beautiful and simple in a way which belies the cleverness behind it. It started off as green as a herb garden after a summer shower and has transformed gently into a blend of musk and spice. Sadly, I don't think it will be more than a couple of hours before it fades away altogether but it is a lovely creation.

Kittens sorry to diss Nina - I now feel as if I had kicked a kitten. I expect it is just a Pink Minger on me. I've noticed lots of PMs smell rather delicious on DD. Badders I do hope Agent Provocateur comes up to scratch for you.

Fingers crossed for you Sock and a nice stress-free, healthy day to all perfumistas and offspring.

BluebellGal · 13/09/2017 11:38

Ah that will be it Pest - yes that's fits how my child smelt this morning. I don't like it, but it's a lot better than she will smell when she returns from nursery later (it has a distinctive horrible smell that permeates her hair and clothes - although I love her nursery can't stand that smell!)

Haha green yes that describes the Clinique perfume - should carry a warning to spray sparingly as its nuclear strength. Judging by your description I think the MIL will also like Lair de rein - might look out for a sample for her

Badders08 · 13/09/2017 11:41

I should like the aromatics elixir on paper
In reality I loathe it
Off to work...someone must have rung in sick
Dior addict for me today 😁

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 13/09/2017 11:46

my mum had a bottle of Aromatics Elixir, it was the only perfume she owned other than Coty L'Amaint. I don't know if i like the aromatics as in actually like it or i just like it because i associate it with my mum

haven't been wearing much perfume but I have had a few blasts of L'Artisans Timbuktu which was a swap with a poster on thread. love it, love the woodiness and dry spices in it. Wish I'd tried it before now tbh

HaHaHmm · 13/09/2017 12:10

Hello Perfumistas. Long time lurker here.

I had a mooch in TK Maxx yesterday after reading of MrsM's success, hoping to find some Womanity. No joy, but I did get SJP Stash for £12.99. I'm surprised at how overtly masculine it is at first but I really, really like it. It smells much more expensive than it is even at full price; I compared notes with a colleague who wears Tuscan Leather and we both agreed that in a blind test we would have no problem believing that it was Tom Ford. I think I'll wear it a lot over the winter.

Lots of Issey Miyake and Elizabeth Arden in TK Maxx, along with quite a few Library of Fragrances for a fiver.

OCSockOrphanage · 13/09/2017 12:49

Just found the Cassis en Feuille sample, tested, and am now wondering if it's worth going to the store to see if it's still there.

I'm fairly sure there were several bottles of Womanity ....

3DGlasses · 13/09/2017 13:05

I have a little bottle of Aromatics Elixir that I love to sniff. Its such an impressive fragrance. Ocasionally I even brave a cheeky spray of it indoors - but I cant wear it out of the house. Its not 'me'. I'd feel like a fraud.

SOTD is Kenzo Amour. I feel extremely cosy and blissed out, which is miraculous given the vicious AirCon and enormous workload I have to contend with at work today Grin.

PerfumeIsAMessage · 13/09/2017 13:09

I must smell these SJP perfumes. Loathe the woman though, so I resent it! But I like the sound of Stash.

I love Aromatics Elixir on other people, but either they've done something to it recently, or my nose isn't "getting" it, because when I smelled it recently, it was much sweeter than I remembered it. I associate it with this amazingly dressed woman I worked with who only ever wore that, had worn it for 25 years and said she felt weird if she didn't wear it. I coveted her clothes, and her security in that she really had found her signature. (although obvs I also like being a perfume ho-er Grin)

explodingkittens · 13/09/2017 13:31

There are bargain bottles of Aromatics Elixir on fragrance direct - I have had one sitting in the online shopping basket for a few days but haven't pressed buy yet. Calyx is in there too...cant justify any further perfume purchases until payday but it's sooooo tempting!

BluebellGal · 13/09/2017 18:57

Didn't realise how legendary Aromatics Elixir is! It's definitely unique

SOTD 4160 What I did on my holidays. Loved wearing this today and still getting lovely wafts.

Can't wait for my spa day tomorrow to celebrate anniversary - finished work, champagne in hand Wine

BluebellGal · 13/09/2017 19:04

[don't get too jealous - just had to interrupt champagne consumption to change a whiffy nappy]

BluebellGal · 13/09/2017 19:09

I do like the sound of SJP Stash. Must admit I overlooked this in TK Maxx

The only perfume of note at my store was Tom Ford Velvet Orchid. Otherwise lots of generic boring stuff, some fragrance library, Elizabeth Arden etc

They also had Lanvin Arperge- never smelt that but know it's a classic. Although I'm sure it's been reformulated many times

I also tried Pharrell Williams Girl, I think the reason it didn't sell is it's named wrong - should be unisex or boy! It smells just like Penhalligon Halfeti

Pestilentialone · 13/09/2017 19:11

Not jealous Bluebell rioja in hand, parched peas on hob, hommity pie in oven. Us perfumistas know how to live Grin

SoTD is SJP covet

Trying hard to resist any purchases.

Pestilentialone · 13/09/2017 19:13

Lanvin Arperge is meant to hold its own against No5 as an excellent example of an aldehyde.

Judydreamsofhorses · 13/09/2017 19:15

green so pleased you've come over to the dark (skanky, musty) side with LDR!

My mum also wore Aromatics. I am not a fan, but I do have a bottle of Wrappings, which is harder to come by now, and so, so lovely. I think they release it as a Christmas thing each year, but to me it's quite green and I don't think on it as a particularly cosy perfume.

SOTD was JHAG Mad Madame. I suspect I currently smell of rain and fatigue.

I need to get to TK Maxx, don't I? I'm meeting my friend for lunch on Saturday and will probably walk home that way, but there is rarely anything very exciting here. I used to snaffle loads of Korres but they don't seem to stock it now.

Judydreamsofhorses · 13/09/2017 19:16

pest we are having sausages and mash, with peas. Possibly even cake afterwards.

3DGlasses · 13/09/2017 19:35

Anyone have any opinions on YSL Cinema or YSL Manifesto or Manifesto Elixir?

I'm swapping some of my dust-gathering Pink Mingers with a long- distance friend and she has offered these up.

(So long, farewell Mon Paris, LVEB and Flowerbomb! I hope you poor, unloved PMs find a happier home Grin).

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 13/09/2017 19:39

Late to the party but hope all goes well for DD Green. Rest assured there will be lots of people looking out for her...

Had a very quick whirl around my nearest Debenhams today (wanted to try a bit of the Touche Eclat glow shot, and wouldn't you know they must have every counter but YSL!) so had a spray of Addict. First smell was OK but it feels like it's come into it's own a few hours later. I think I'd like it best in late Summer. To be worn on a too hot slightly stale, tired sort of day. In a good way...

Only realised there's a brand new tk maxx on retail park as I was driving out though. Gah!

(Oh, and a great big mmmmmmmm to anything slightly Christmas puddingy)

BluebellGal · 13/09/2017 19:42

Pest and Judy - you sure know how to live. Sorry in advance for more TK Maxx enabling - I only went in there because of this thread. Very proud I can out empty handed Smile

Lanvin Arperge was £19.99 for 100ml - bargain

BluebellGal · 13/09/2017 19:43

Enjoy your peas ladies! I'm jealous of the cake!

Badders08 · 13/09/2017 20:20

Manifesto? Very weak vanilla
Haven't tried cinema but it gets a good write up on fragrantica
Addict is gorgeous after its been on for some time
