Well, summer barely happened so we're ready to pack away the shorts and the kaftans and get excited about boots, cosy knits and anything new and shiny.
We're often scared to link what we're lusting after for fear of lurkers buying it before we have the chance. So if you're a lurker, come and join us.
Carrying on from here

Ming definitely stay!! I tend to be at the designer end of the spectrum and I am happy mixing in high street stuff. My Primark cardigan works just as well with my McQueen dress as it does my GapKid jeansGrin The best bit about the thread is that everyone loves nice looking stuff.

Shop, quaffing champagne in designer clothes - sounds much more glamorous when you say it!Grin

TheMightyMing · 30/08/2017 14:48

Sounds like I've found my tribe ! I better start learning to link !

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 30/08/2017 16:09

welcome ming i'm definitely a high street shopper with the odd higher end accessory thrown in. I shop everywhere from charity shops to primark and beyond Smile

disappointing news fromt he pain clinic, they said it's too late to give me the surgery the old pain clinic promised me. they said i should have been given it years ago to have it had any hope of helping me Sad anyway, they are putting me through a special pain management program with the aim of helping me learn how to live with the circumstances ive got.the new doctor was honest and said there's not much in terms of medicine and such that will help me now but they will do everything they can to help give me the best quality of life they can. so a bit up and down and im pretty angry and disappointed in the old team i was under, they should have given me the surgery when i asked for it instead of fobbing me off but nevermind, it's not possible now so i have to move on

popped into primark to buy tights and socks this afternoon and ended up with a guns and roses tee and a bright red cardigan. they just fell into my basket, you know how it is. can't beat £5.50 for a cotton cardigan though and i've always found them to be decent quality

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 30/08/2017 16:39

Sorry to hear that One, that must be so hard to hear and very frustrating. You always sound like you're dealing with it all so well though. I haven't had a trip to primark in ages, bet it's good for graphic tees.

Lib I've just bought some grey (skinny) jeans, so sounds good, I love the way you wrote that all authoritatively Grin I definitely don't live in a trendy area... I don't know anyone in real life who's moved on from skinny jeans apart from me. Even teenagers are all still wearing leggings and crop tops and stuff. Whenever I go into London I notice so many more on trend people, it's great. But it makes me "temper" my own style a bit because I'm not the type to want to stand out where I live.

Question of the day: what's the style level like where you live? Wink

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 30/08/2017 18:13

yeah, it is frustrating blair but hey ho, i have to make the best of it. If what the new pain clinic can offer ups my quality of life from what it is that can only be a bonus. YEs, primark is great fro graphic tees and they change them every few weeks/months so always plenty to choose from

I can't say there's much more than skinnies and blouses in terms of style here, at least this little bit i live in. teens still seem to be in trainers leggings and tees, otherwise it's lots of loose linen dresses, that seems to be a big thing here right now though i imagien that will change int he next month or so with the colder weather coming . Subtle bag love going on i've noticed, saw an older lady with a fab Chanel bag earlier today.

Dreamqueen · 30/08/2017 18:43

Sorry to read about medical news One I know a few people who are under the pain clinic because their medical condition is also no longer operable& they speak veru highly of the medical attention and service.

Welcome Ming

I'm also a low-high street shopper with a few designer bits thrown in. I'm always mentally shopping for the new slimmer me but in reality am middle aged short slightly chubby person.

I've filled the tan boot gap in my wardrobe. I'll link later.

unfortunately I don't think I'll make the meet up now. I am doing an early morning Gatwick drop off the following morning & DS & DIL are staying with me from Saturday morning. As much as I want to wave you off Lib I'll have to welcome them not go on a gin binge with MNV & see them off on their hols. Plus I'm dog sitting for 2 weeks which is good because I'll do lots of walking.

Everyonelovessparkles · 30/08/2017 19:01

You've been chatty today! I was just catching up when realised the DC had flooded the kitchen in a vague attempt to 'wash up'. Hmm

Today I suffered a similar fate to you blingy but in reverse as didn't take a cardigan or coat and was freezing in my short sleeved top.

I'm waiting for blingy's bag decluttering Grin

Welcome ming. We're a friendly bunch here Smile. I'm a high st girl too but with designer aspirations!

Looking forward to meeting you too blair.

I think I read that claret/ wine colour was going to be big this season but I'm sure it is every A/W. it's almost like meryl streep's characters quote from the devil wears Prada 'florals for summer. Groundbreaking.' at least I'm sure it's from that film.

What bad news about your back one how disappointing. Hope your housemate is behaving better now too.

Sorry to miss you next week queenc. Glad you kept the top if it made you smile.

Dreamqueen · 30/08/2017 20:16

Normally I only buy click and collect for obvious reasons buy son is coming down this week so I can order anything . What di you MNV recommend?

Dreamqueen · 30/08/2017 20:21

my boy not buy.

DryWhiteagainW · 30/08/2017 20:47

nice after weeks of fashion wilderness and no spending I'm feeling twitchy.

Watching Billions and looking at shoes on iPad......links coming up.

Chuffed that burgundy is still big this season......bought a Jigsaw coat last winter in that shade and just picked up a bargain work dress in Boden sorry clearance too.

Ming I'm on here because I love the inspiration/aspiration. Like most I'm high st with the occasional splurge.

Blair style here is not edgy....quite classic and glamorous really with a bit of funky and a lot of designer handbags. I have noticed though that women where I live do look after themselves, personal maintenance is high which is good and keeps me on my toes. In more rural areas it's very much tweeds and Joulesville for the horsey types.

DryWhiteagainW · 30/08/2017 20:59

ha ha

DryWhiteagainW · 30/08/2017 21:02

I love Aquazurras, stunning, my kind of shoe

DryWhiteagainW · 30/08/2017 21:08

green again

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 30/08/2017 21:11

Wow those are definitely all taxi shoes Dry!

That's a shame about the MU Dream. Looking forward to boot link.

Where I work lots of women wear nice gym gear during the day, but there are often Birkins to be spotted in Waitrose.

DryWhiteagainW · 30/08/2017 21:14

seriously could save up for these, fabulous investment

DryWhiteagainW · 30/08/2017 21:22

love this dress

DryWhiteagainW · 30/08/2017 21:24

Blair I call them "sitting shoes", my type of shoes.........."sitting with fizz shoes"

DryWhiteagainW · 30/08/2017 21:27

crazy fabric but I love this silhouette with the boots

queencerulean · 30/08/2017 21:28

I quite like those feathery prada shoes.
one that sounds awful for you and I'm sorry you're in so much pain. Let's hope they can get on top of it for you. Glad you did some shopping. Can't beat primark for slogan tees. Dd has a few and they wash surprisingly well for the price.
blair the style level round here is skinnies, maybe a bit of boyfriend for the adventurous. Or still the old fashioned boot cuts for some. Trainers are converse or adidas. Some of the reception parents last year seemed a younger and more trendy crowd and I spied a disco and a Chloe. Its a university town with some halls near me so I look forward to seeing what the new kids wear in a few weeks.

DryWhiteagainW · 30/08/2017 21:34

Need to concentrate on the show all this "shorting" and insider trading stuff is making my head spin Grin

Longislandicetee · 30/08/2017 21:45

Lovely links Dry!

One, so sorry to hear the latest news from the medics.Flowers

Everyone, good luck fighting Shop and QueenC for any bags! There are actually 3 bags I want to get rid of but keep telling myself I might use them again one day. I only do a bag declutter every 5 years or so though!

So, i finally got my hands on these loafers. All I can say is the model can't have normal feet because without slicing some of my feet off, you can't get them in. Back they go.Hmm

Stokey · 30/08/2017 21:51

Oh I really enjoyed Billions Dry. It's hard to know who to root for - Damien is a bad boy but the lawyer's a bit of a swinger knob too.
Gruniad link on Autumn trends today, I like the sound of floral dresses, duvet coats and red boots (maybe not all together).

There's definitely a bit of trendiness in my corner of London. Quite a few ladies rocking latest trends at the school gates, although a good many don't care too. Lots of people round here work in meeja or are a bit arty.
Was in hipster central Dalston the other day and wide legged flowy trousers were the order of the day, worn with trainers or flats.

Hi Ming, I rarely do designer but try and look for gold on the high street.

Sorry to hear about your pain medication One, sounds very frustrating.

justasecond · 30/08/2017 22:07

Gorgeous shoes dry , very elegant , have you decided on a grey bag yet?
welcome to ming I am a high st gal too with the odd outnet bargain thrown in. I am partial to a designer bag though Smile

Blair nothing of note style wise in my neck of the woods. Definitely not edgy! Ds moved school to a slighter posher area and its no better there either. I see the odd designer bag but that's about it.

I am wearing skinnies a lot less these days much prefer a straight crop esp with ankle boots. I quite like the look of sock boots actually but all the ones I have seen so far have too high heels for me.

justasecond · 30/08/2017 22:13

Flowers for one that sounds very tough. I can't imagine what its like living with ongoing pain. Hope the clinic can find an effective management programme for you xx
