Hush new collection.

Thoughts?

I know a lot of people think hush is overpriced tat, but this thread is for those of us that still buy the odd thing.

I've had a brief look & like the look of the Christie coat & Cassie dress. Last year I got a dress in the same style of this years clover dress, which I love.

However, the prints this year are awful.

I can see what you mean about the dresses and I get that . It was more the t-shirts and joggers I was referring to. Also the shoes/boot shapes have been around for years.

My view is when I look at it as a collection that there is nothing new about it really- it is the same aesthetic that has been knocking around for over five years now and not a particularly great one.

I do believe in paying for good quality clothes but lots of people on here have said they feel some of the things they have purchased have not been good quality given the price. I was just struck by how ubiquitous it is and how the 'look' could be achieved with far less outlay. Just musing 🙂

I guess we all have our enthusiasms but this strikes me as the new Boden on here.

Whitney168 · 24/08/2017 14:39

I will hear nothing bad said about the Hush harems, Squashit LOL.

(And genuinely, they are a world away from what I've paid half the price for in the likes of Next - so much more detail and better fabric. I live in them. Which does my waistline no good at all at times ...)

Lottapianos · 24/08/2017 15:19

Hi folks, what is the sizing like at Hush? I quite fancy the Tara dress. I'm a fairly busty size 12 and was thinking of ordering size M. What do you think?

Ta

Nearlyadoctor · 24/08/2017 15:22

Lotta I would think a medium, I'm an 8-10 and wear a small ( could squeeze in an xs but a bit tight around the hips)

Talisin · 24/08/2017 15:24

Lotta I'm a fairly busty 12 too and the medium is just right on me.

Lottapianos · 24/08/2017 15:33

Thanks both, sounds like M is the way forward

buggerthebotox · 24/08/2017 16:07

I'm underwhelmed on the whole but I like the pink cami top at £45 Shock and the long grey cardi at £110. Not sure if worth it......seems a lot.

TragicRabbit · 24/08/2017 17:07

I've bought a few of the t shirts (blah, lightening bolt, and smiley last season) but I've found the scatter star one comes up a bit small and thin. Anyone else got this? Thought I'd got chunky between t shirts.

neveradullmoment99 · 24/08/2017 17:32

Ive not got this seasons scatter tee but had one from a couple of seasons back and it was quite generous. Saying that, it definetly loosens with wear.

neveradullmoment99 · 24/08/2017 17:34

I ordered the black pencil skirt with the daring split for £15. It will need to be awful on for me to bother sending it back at that price. I quite fancy wearing it with black tights and ankle boots in winter. I also ordered the pale grey wide jersey top/tunic. It came back in stock this morning in a size small so hoping it will fit :)

MartinRohdesBellybuttonFluff · 24/08/2017 17:37

Still waiting for my package to arrive (drums fingers, the disadvantage of living overseas).

grannycake I'm a little worried that the ruched skirt will be too short on me (also have the Tara so I am aware of the length, anything shorter I won't be too sure of). I was imagining (well hoping for) a skirt like the Boden one. Will have to wait and see!

You lovely lot are a bad influence! I've since ordered the love jumper (grey with red embroidery) and a little jewellery (which I think is good value especially with 10% off).

Love reading your updates and the views of those who are offering an alternative point of view (overseas so don't have Peacock's).

grannycake · 24/08/2017 17:50

Martin - I think you might find the Ruched skirt a little on the short side. It is definitely shorter than the Boden one. I'm comfortable with the Boden skirt for work but the Hush is strictly out of work. It also tends to ride up more so looks Ok initially but ends up at a shorter length

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/08/2017 18:34

I'm a hobbit, and the ruched skirt is pretty short on me.

Lobster12345 · 24/08/2017 18:42

Anyone tried the twisted skater shoes before. Have ordered them and they're a fraction too tight but the next size up is too big. Wondering if they stretch much?

Whitney168 · 24/08/2017 19:03

Martin - I think you might find the Ruched skirt a little on the short side.

That sounds all kinds of wrong ... LOL

Nearlyadoctor · 24/08/2017 19:07

The Lightning stud earrings arrived today - but I have rung customer services and said although they say non returnable they will be going back. I generally love their jewellery but these are not Hultquist Copenhagen as everything I've had and loved has been. They came in a little plastic bag and looked as if they cost a couple of pounds at the market. The posts on both of them were also not straight.

neveradullmoment99 · 24/08/2017 19:50

Thats good to know nearly as i had been tempted by them but tbh, i bought the lightning necklace and it was like a cheap necklace out of a cracker. Very poor.

MartinRohdesBellybuttonFluff · 24/08/2017 20:27

I am a Hobbit too Remus (DH calls me Frodo) the wrong side of 40 and not very 'leg confident' Grin so I have a feeling I'll be off to the Post Office with the ruched skirt. When it comes I'll pull out the opaques and boots and have a critical look at it (might post a photo if feeling brave enough for your amusement).

That's a pity about the lightning bolt earrings Nearly, was tempted too. Good that they're taking them back from you though.

neveradullmoment99 · 24/08/2017 20:36

I have the ruched skirt. I think its ok in length. I am 5ft 5. I am also 49 and soon having a significant birthday! where did the time go

miffy2 · 24/08/2017 21:10

I love the ruched skirt but I sized up so that the length would be more work- appropriate. I wear the L and it sits on my hips rather than the waist; gives good length that way. I wear strictly with opaques too.

Nearlyadoctor · 24/08/2017 21:25

Is it just me all have all the reviews disappeared? Thought I'd have a nosy at some of them for the new collection and not a single review, although the odd bigger quote from say Katie on most items.

Laska5772 · 24/08/2017 21:33

I have two ruched skirts and I am 59!.. sz 12/14 ( legs are def my best feature) Yes they are shortish, but I wear with opaques (or Ssssh..... leggings ....A S&B Faux pas, that is! ) .and boots or loafers .. Love them!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/08/2017 21:33

People who have mentioned the Boden skirt - does it still exist?

Laska5772 · 24/08/2017 21:34

Yes reviews have disappeared. I wrote two yesterday on Ivy dress and Cannes top .. def recommend both of them..

Laska5772 · 24/08/2017 21:38

I'm 5'5/6 BTW (cant really say 5.6 but almost! .)
