Was just googling "petite maxi skirt" (seems to be a rarity) and Pilot came up as an option. Remember pilot?! Didn't know it was still going. Which then reminded me of similar store Bay Trading which I used to love as a teen. And etam!

Any others you lot remember?

Oh and if you know any good places to get a petite maxi skirt for a wedding do let me know, I'm really struggling here.

Saxone
Wallis feels like it doesn't exist but maybe it does.
I remember when Next, Oasis and River Island were all posh. Ted Baker shirtd were about £70 apiece which was extortionate in thr 90s.

LilaoftheGreenwood · 21/07/2017 20:34

Bloody LOVE Esprit, they still have shops in France but closed them here so I order online now. They're like you wish M&S was, I recommend!

Looneytune253 · 21/07/2017 20:41

Geordie jeans??? 😂😂 Hahaha

Anasnake · 21/07/2017 20:51

Joe Bloggs

BikeRunSki · 21/07/2017 20:52

I loved Geordie Jeans when I lived in the toon. I had a very tall bf who maintained that they were the only place he could get jeans long enough. I had a slightly shorter (but still about 6'2" and very well off, well spoken colleague who reckoned that Nicole Fahri was the only place he could get his jeans. .

I still moss Owen Owens in North Fnchley. Last time I went there the high street was full of charity shops and nothing really that I recognised.

GerdaLovesLili · 21/07/2017 21:09

Moss? Miss!

Alicekeach · 21/07/2017 22:19

Mourning the loss of both Kew and Esprit. I bought so many clothes from those two shops - hard wearing, classic clothes rather than "fast fashion".

peterkin · 21/07/2017 22:25

Is there no Esprit in the UK now?

I live abroad and it's one of my staples! You can still buy it online though? Confused

Crispsheets · 21/07/2017 22:35

Esprit has concessions in stores...I bought 3 items today

jelliedeel · 21/07/2017 22:42

Still got stand alone Benetton, C&A, Naf Naf, Esprit where I am....yayHmm

jelliedeel · 21/07/2017 22:43

Pumpkin Patch is a kiwi brand....still in Westfield I think.

boggedoff · 21/07/2017 22:46

Esprit closed it's flagship store in Regent St a couple of years ago. I really miss it :( still available online. but I haven't ordered for a while from them.

woodhill · 21/07/2017 22:47

Liz Claiborne and the concession

Chickydoo · 21/07/2017 22:58

Not read whole thread so someone else might have already said this.
Bay trading became Oasis trading
Which then became Oasis.

SingaSong12 · 21/07/2017 22:59

I don't exactly miss them but remember the novelty of tie rack and sock shop. I think they might still be online.

flickerty · 21/07/2017 23:22

Nostalgia makes me so sad....

SophieGiroux · 22/07/2017 00:21

Faith (shoe shop)
The Sweater Shop
Sock Shop
Tie Rack

sowhatusernameisnttaken · 22/07/2017 08:17

This makes me feel so nostalgic/sad!

Iamtheresurrection · 22/07/2017 08:32

I don't think Bay Trading became Oasis. I had a going out outfit which consisted of black Bay trousers and a pink Oasis top.

I remember Turret.

Is anyone else old enough to remember when BHS sold food?

Allwashedup · 22/07/2017 08:40

Tatlas

Allwashedup · 22/07/2017 08:41

Yes, used to get my lunchtime jacket potato from there back in the late 90s.

lurkingfromhome · 22/07/2017 08:42

Yes, I remember BHS food! Also remember when Next started and it used to have cafés. I remember thinking it was super cool because you didn't get crisps on the side with your sandwich, you got actual tortilla chips Blush.

Also remember that when River Island started out it was all dark wood polished floors and really quite classy (in my memory, at least).

I was in a Benetton outlet in Spain last year and got the most perfect plain super-soft lambswool jumpers for 10 euro each. Result.

I also have a vague memory of Primark in the 1970s/early 80s as a really small-town unstylish little shop full of crimplene A-line skirts. I think it must have been bought out but they kept the name.

mrsmildred · 22/07/2017 09:18

Has anyone mentioned Aubin & Wills, the sister brand to Jack Wills for an older customer. Fantastic quality, lots of natural fibres, mostly made in GB or Europe.

It closed four years ago, and everything I have from there still looks as as good as new. I have a particular grey sweatshirt, which of course can be bought everywhere, but none fit like this one, it's perfect. Thankfully it is still going strong but I will probably cry if it ever does start falling apart!
