Clothes shops that disappeared

Was just googling "petite maxi skirt" (seems to be a rarity) and Pilot came up as an option. Remember pilot?! Didn't know it was still going. Which then reminded me of similar store Bay Trading which I used to love as a teen. And etam!

Any others you lot remember?

Oh and if you know any good places to get a petite maxi skirt for a wedding do let me know, I'm really struggling here.

"Is anyone else old enough to remember when BHS sold food?"

Yes. I had a Saturday job there in the late 1970s, and often helped out in the food department for lunchtime/holiday cover.

BatFace1 · 22/07/2017 09:24

I wonder if anyone can recall the shop called Bubblegum? Down an alley in Oxford city centre. They sold very pointy buckle shoes we all wore in the late 80s. Next to a shop called Cult Clothing

Why does it keep putting a capital letter for clothes?

woodhill · 22/07/2017 09:55

CluelessMummy · 22/07/2017 10:51

Kookai and Esprit are both alive and kicking here in New Zealand.

I still have a top in my wardrobe from Clockhouse at C&A that I will never get rid of despite the fact that there is no chance I'll ever fit into it again

fruityb · 22/07/2017 10:58

Bay trading went into administration- it's not oasis.

BikeRunSki · 22/07/2017 13:44

Adams Kids

Adams and Woolies closed down in my town around the same time, when DS was a few months old. I stocked up on clothes for him for years!

Dancergirl · 22/07/2017 14:41

Just remembered the American children's clothing brand Gymboree when they were in the UK. Me and my friends would go in to buy gorgeous outfits for our dds Smile

GingerLDN · 22/07/2017 15:15

Has anyone mentioned Logo? Loved it in there. Full of horrid materials your iron would stick to Grin

MikeUniformMike · 22/07/2017 15:22

I remember Lady at Lord John. I would have been too young to shop there but I'm sure I can remember seeing their carrier bag.
Kew gone? When did that happen and weren't they part of the same group as Jigsaw?

Thinkingofausername1 · 22/07/2017 17:10

Ah c&a brings back memories Wine

Deathraystare · 22/07/2017 18:21

Crispsheets - I was going to say Van Allen. I got an awful pinafore dress from there with a ditsy floral print. Buying clothes when you are fat was even worse then...

MissAlabamaWhitman · 22/07/2017 18:38

Drome on Bold St in Liverpool
Dirty sports for the ubiquitous trackies 😆

I can't believe nobody has yet mentioned the style emporium that was Littlewoods.

Marv1nGay3 · 22/07/2017 18:49

Does anyone remember that shop 'Droopy and Browns' near ENO in London? I think there was one in York, too? I used to love looking in the window on the way to work, and bought a couple of dresses there ( in the days- amazing ball gowns and party dresses.....

Marv1nGay3 · 22/07/2017 18:50

Sorry meant to say in the days before I had kids!

Cocolepew · 22/07/2017 18:56

My wedding outfit came from Kookai 😊

BikeRunSki · 22/07/2017 19:12

I remember Droopy and Brown's. My exSIL got her wedding dress there (it wasn't a wedding dress wedding dress, just an evening dress she got married in). It was fabulous.,I had huge admiration fir her until she cheated on my brother

This thread is making me so nostalgic. Used to love kookai and morgan and had a summer job in etam/tammy girl

All this talk of shops near Liverpool Central Station makes me think of Kumars. Anyone remember it? Was such a brilliant place for picking up low cost fashion in the, 80s/90s

LittleIda · 22/07/2017 21:00

Only1scoop · 22/07/2017 21:19
