Perfumes that strangers stop you in the street for?

Just that really, I was asked today by a (very lovely looking) chap what perfume I was wearing, and would love to know what everyone else gets asked about fragrance wise. It was Alien Absolue btw.

Boudoir by Vivienne Westwood.

PicnicPie · 13/06/2017 07:32

Hugo Boss Woman in my 20's. Always got asked about that.
And now in my 30's Lady Million. Worn it so much I can't even smell it on me anymore so I'm always surprised when someone compliments me, because I can never smell it.

Molecule 01 is pricy but amazon, 'tribute', iso e super, is identical and costs £17. It really is identical.

Sallystyle · 13/06/2017 08:18

Tom Ford Tobacco and Vanille.

I get asked about it a lot.

Also Myrrh and Tonka by Jo Malone

Sallystyle · 13/06/2017 08:20

Oh yes, definitely Hypnotic Poison as well.

I ran out. I am eagerly awaiting some for my birthday this month. I adore it.

Thanks for the tip! Just had a look on Amazon and there seems to be 4 that claim to be identical but different scents- cherry, sandalwood etc. Which one did you buy?

ImADingleDangleScarecrow · 13/06/2017 09:22

Dame I can't link on the Amazon app but I think it's this one

Thank you!Flowers

DameSquashalot · 13/06/2017 10:17

Oooooh. I think I'll give that a try. I can't afford it either...it's on my wish list at the mo. I was looking at some sample sizes last night. 🙂

The lady in Sainsbury's said it was the nicest perfume she had ever smelt. (smelled?)

mycavitiesareempty · 13/06/2017 10:19

Yes! That's the one.

PuppyPickler · 13/06/2017 11:54

I like the Molecule 01 perfume but it as as a pp said just it is just Iso E Super so the cheapo version will likely be the very same thing.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 13/06/2017 13:33

What does Iso E Super mean?

squoosh · 13/06/2017 13:42

It’s a chemical that’s commonly found in perfumes, it has a woody smell. But in the case of Molecule 01 (and its copycat I presume) Iso E Super is the only ingredient. Whereas other perfumes layer the Iso with other scents and chemicals.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 13/06/2017 13:57

Interesting, thanks. I will order some as I've wanted to try it since my dentist's receptionist wore it and we had a whole discussion about it Grin

squoosh · 13/06/2017 14:25

Some people say it imitates pheromones and you will have lust struck people running down the street after you, having fallen head over heels after one sniff...

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 13/06/2017 14:27

She didn't say that! Grin She said it adapted to your own body chemistry or something.

ToesInWater, me too. I've worn Obsession for 30 years and still get asked what it is. I find it lingers beautifully on scarves and collars of coats.
I remember reading when I was first pregnant 35 years ago that you should choose a perfume when you have babies and stick to it, then they would grow up always remembering you when they smelled it.
Not sure if it has worked as two are asthmatic! Hope it wasn't Calvin Kleins fault.
I asked someone the other day what they were wearing as it was really lovely. It was Elizabeth Arden Blue Grass. I bought a bottle in Superdrug and the two tips I wore it had ferocious migraines.
I've often asked people what they are wearing and then been disappointed when it smells differently on me.
I will just stick to my old favourite.

storynanny · 13/06/2017 14:40

I was bought victor and rolf Flower Bomb for Christmas and initially it smelled lovely on but seemed to fade quickly. Anyone else found that? It was really expensive too.

My DC love Dolce Vita by Christian Dior.
I always wore it and it's all mixed up with their early memories Smile

FatGirlWithChocolate · 13/06/2017 19:08

@mumbod How do you get on with the Narciso Poudree? I really love it when it sets down, but always worry about how strong it is initially, so don't wear it as often as I should. I need to be braver I think.

FatGirlWithChocolate · 13/06/2017 19:09

Sets = drys

Qtipsrsweet · 13/06/2017 19:21

Molecule One
Any Thierry Mugler perfume

MumBod · 13/06/2017 19:43

Chocolate I adore it. I like the fact that it's quite strong at first because so many perfumes just disappear on me.

It's one of my absolute favourites.

FatGirlWithChocolate · 13/06/2017 22:23

Thank you for replying. I will be braver with it in future!

AgentCooper · 13/06/2017 22:28

Do Son by Diptyque - people used to stop me all the time! Haven't worn it in a while - it's very tubereuse-y and you can get a bit tired of it but it is gorgeous.
