Perfumes that strangers stop you in the street for?

Just that really, I was asked today by a (very lovely looking) chap what perfume I was wearing, and would love to know what everyone else gets asked about fragrance wise. It was Alien Absolue btw.

OP posts:
sleepyMe12 · 11/06/2017 12:16

I wear a lot of different perfumes but will always get compliments when wearing Alien eau extraordinaire.

AntiopeofThemyscira · 11/06/2017 12:17

"New York 1955" - 4160 Tuesdays. A few people have asked me about that one.

OftheUppahUplands · 11/06/2017 13:06

Molecule 01 here too, was pretty much chased out of a local shop by someone wanting to know what perfume I was wearing. I can't smell it on me and haven't got around to repurchasing since I ran out

Never anything else though

MrsKlugscheisser · 11/06/2017 13:07

HL Bug - try Les Senteurs for samples - they will post you a little of what you fancy for not very much dosh.

OftheUppahUplands · 11/06/2017 13:08

No, just remembered, Lush Silky underwear always made people ask to. I just wish it was part of their permanent line

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 11/06/2017 13:09

embarrassingly, the last two times I was asked it was Lidl's Suddenly Madame Glamour. I do also have the Coco Mademoiselle it copies, but keep the Lidl one in my car for at-work top-ups.

Si by Armani - constantly

laurzj82 · 11/06/2017 13:24

Haven't RTFT so sorry if it has been mentioned but Lady Vengeance

sowhatusernameisnttaken · 11/06/2017 13:51

Question - Why can't we smell perfumes on our ourselves?

wispytree · 11/06/2017 13:53

Lady Vengeance was my wedding perfume. So beautiful. I had so many compliments on it.

I've never understood the whole infatuation with Angel, TBH.

TheSpottedZebra · 11/06/2017 14:02

I'm another that only gets asked about my lowest- rent fragrance.
In my case, JLo Glow.

It is genuinely a good fragrance - very fresh, soapy etc, but I do feel the need to defend myself it a bit if anyone asks what it is.

TakeMe2Insanity · 11/06/2017 14:04

Chanel Chance always get stopped.

problembottom · 11/06/2017 14:30

I get this all the time when I wear YSL Opium. It isn't well reviewed by perfume critics and I have a pricier fragrances no one ever says a word about! I figure it's the scent for me. Smile

Bitconfused75 · 11/06/2017 14:38

Eau Savage by Dior and Shay and Blue Salt Caramel have both got comments.
My daughter would have me wear Prada Iris every day because she says it smells amazing!

OCSockOrphanage · 11/06/2017 15:54

Years ago, a man on a train asked. It was Dune, and ever since I have steered clear of it as it came up very strong on me and lasted forever. Sillage should be quite intimate IMO.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 11/06/2017 16:42

TakeMe2Insanity your post reminded me of asking a friend what she was wearing the other week and it was Chance. I've just ordered a sample to see how it smells on meSmile

BusterGonad · 11/06/2017 16:58

When I had Dior Addict I got asked a lot!

Botanicbaby · 11/06/2017 17:00

Asked once in the street by a woman as I hurried past her as she was talking to friends on pavement just along from my house. I had to rush back to get something I'd forgotten & she asked then as I walked past again.

It was Clarins ressourcante spray (blue bottle). This was years ago & i have always liked it since.

Generally agree if others can smell it so much you're likely wearing too much.

Ex colleague used to wear white linen which is very strong but I used fo just get a very slight scent of it from her so clean & fresh. It smells horrendously strong & over powering straight from the bottle though.

Cocolepew · 11/06/2017 17:08

Chloe Narcisse and JLO Glow

YouMakeMeFeelLikeDancing · 11/06/2017 18:19

I have some really expensive perfumes but the one I always get loads of compliments on is Lush - Karma. I don't think you need to layer it, I never have. It's strong enough

HLBug · 11/06/2017 19:00

Thanks MrsKlug I'll give them a go.

VintagePerfumista · 11/06/2017 19:17

HLBug- I can vouch also for Scent Samples UK (and so can OC ^^ upthread there!) and also for Aus Liebe Zum Duft (based in Germany but will ship to UK quite cheaply as well as other places) There is a Netherlands based site called Skins which does fab testing kits too (I bought almost all of them last year! You get about 4-5 sample phials for about 15 euro) Many perfume houses also do sampling kits, lots of us on the Perfumista thread rushed off to buy the Atelier Cologne sampling set, you get about 20 beautifully packaged samples, each in a little bag with a postcard for 30 euro.

There is also Nose.fr. who like you to do their diagnostic and then you get 5-6 samples of what it comes up with for about 10 euro..I found one of my great loves (Cuir Cordoba Keiko Mecheri) that way...however, when I ordered some other samples, they came all leaky, labels peeling off and I was v unimpressed.

Saucery · 11/06/2017 19:28

Diane Von Furstenburg - had quite a few remarks that I smell lovely wearing that.
Always know I have been a bit heavy handed with the Alien if children start sneezing at work, so I use about a quarter less than I think I need!

ggirl · 11/06/2017 19:46

I wear lots of different scents but there are some that get comments:

Juliet has a Gun - 'Not a perfume"
Liz Earle no 15
Clive Christian X
CHloe

Softkitty2 · 11/06/2017 19:48

Chloe love story
