Just that really, I was asked today by a (very lovely looking) chap what perfume I was wearing, and would love to know what everyone else gets asked about fragrance wise. It was Alien Absolue btw.

OP posts:
MyHairNeedsASnip · 11/06/2017 10:26

CK One and Tommy Girl Blush

elisa2502 · 11/06/2017 10:28

Cacheral Eden and Estee Lauder Spellbound. I always get stopped when wearing either of these.

xxJennyxx · 11/06/2017 10:29

Armani Si :)

expatinscotland · 11/06/2017 10:30

Chanel Chance. M&S Rosie by Autograph.

ASauvingnonADay · 11/06/2017 10:30

Lancôme la vie est belle - sometimes not sure whether I've got too much on!
And I've got a copy of Tobacco Vanillle - a few have commented on that.. can't afford the real thing!

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 11/06/2017 10:31

i've been asked lots!!

I wear
Poison
Gloria Vanderbilt, Insolence (I think those two smell similar)
Lush Karma too, but that has to be layered....soap/body cream/talc/perfume
Charlie red....as a pp, it's damned cheap but it lasts on me
and Just Musk! ...but I have not been able to get hold of that for yonks. Was that by Lentheric? Or Coty?

I am also a douser...what's the blooming point in that one spray in the air and waft through :o

Clawdy · 11/06/2017 10:32

Juliette Has A Gun - Lady Vengeance. Almost impossible to get now.
Feerie - Van Cleef and Arpels.

VintagePerfumista · 11/06/2017 10:35

I have only been asked a few times, and once was by a whippersnapper in a nightclub. It was Obsession, it was 1995 and to be fair, he'd first smelled it in my bed the previous weekend....

My colleague did ask me a couple of weeks ago- it was vintage Paris.

I put perfume on the outside of my wrist. Your sweat tampers too muh with it on the inside. That way I get little wafts coming to me all day.

I don't care whether other people can smell my perfume or not. I wear it for me.

I have often asked people- one of my students I thought was wearing Miss Dior orginale which seemed an odd choice for a 15 yr old Italian girl (generally to be found heavily dosed in Fruity Florals (or Pink Mingers as we call them on the perfumista thread) It was indeed MDO. I also asked our deputy head as she had something really green and crisp on which hinted vaguely at Chanel 19/Liz Earle 1/Eau du Sud but was none of them and I couldn't work it out. It was a cheap as chips drugstore one called Genny. (9 euro for 100ml) It's great!

BarryTheKestrel · 11/06/2017 10:35

YSL black opium nuit blanche. I only bought it a few weeks ago so people are noticing its not my usual armani diamonds that I've worn for the last year. It's expensive so I only spritz once but it lasts all day.

Badders123 · 11/06/2017 10:37

The only perfumes I've ever been asked about are discontinued 😔
Nightmusk and sun moon stars

ImADingleDangleScarecrow · 11/06/2017 10:38

I've been asked when wearing the following:

Marc Jacob's Decadance
Stella by Stella McCartney
Nuxe - though I've really gone off the smell of this one now

Fwend · 11/06/2017 11:10

Badders - I used to love Sun Moon and Stars!

I have been asked about Chanel Allure Sensuelle before, but that might have been because I over sprayed.

I'm allergic to something in Alien, so I can smell it a mile off as I start wheezing and sneezing!

Badcat666 · 11/06/2017 11:18

I've been sniffed and asked what perfume I'm wearing in shop queues, in lifts, on the train and waiting for trains.

It's always Dior Hypnotic Poison.

I know at least 2 people in the office buy it to give to their partners after giving me a good sniff as well Grin

Badders123 · 11/06/2017 11:20

I found some on eBay but use.ot sparingly!!!!

Ahmezia · 11/06/2017 11:27

Elizabeth Arden Red Door
Cerrutti 1886

Both without fail yet most people state they've never heard of them when I tell them

Composteleana · 11/06/2017 11:29

Paul Smith - Rose. It's not particularly unusual so must be a body chemistry thing. It gets lots of comments, and an ex boss once rang me at 6am because her sister was going to be coming through duty free and she wanted to know what it was so she could ask her sister to buy it. (Note Ex-boss).

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 11/06/2017 11:33

One that smells just like Dove soap from Perfume Parlour. At least 5 or 6 times people have asked me what it is.

AvoidingCallenetics · 11/06/2017 11:35

If I had to drown in anything Chardonnay, I'd rather it was Alien than some other commuter's stinky pits on the tube!

Oooblimey · 11/06/2017 11:35

Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming is my day perfume which I get nice comments about.
I used to wear Christian Dior Dune in evenings and always got nice comments from blokes! I recently swapped it for Miss Dior original and have had no comments, think I need to go back to Dune! Grin

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 11/06/2017 11:43

Eau De Unwashed Commuter is not my first choice either.

Doesn't make Alien any more appealing though. Or actually, too much of Alien. I have nothing agains perfume, any perfume, what I don't like is inconsiderate use of it.

Nellyphants · 11/06/2017 11:56

Perfumes seem to change on me. I'll wear something & in an hour people will say 'can anyone else smell rhubarb?'

The one that do suit me are clarin way dynamisante & trish McEvoy sexy no 9

FabulouslyGlamorousFerret · 11/06/2017 11:57

Not a perfume but has anyone smelt the aftershave Creed Adventus? It's amazing 😍

HLBug · 11/06/2017 12:00

I really wish all the perfume companies would group together to try and work out smellovision or something similar. I'm desperate for a new perfume and would LOVE to sniff the likes of Molecular and Le Sabo but the nearest shop to me that sells them is approx 600 miles away!!!

Does anyone ever use any of those sample places online? I'm always dubious that they are the real thing...

Pouffealouffe · 11/06/2017 12:02

Yves Saint Laurent Cinema

Haffiana · 11/06/2017 12:14

Perfumes I have been asked about recently are:

Serge Lutens Borneo 1834 (two people I know have promptly purchased it after sniffing),
Frederic Malle Carnal Flower (several times),
Helmut Lang EDP
Matthew Williamson Incense
Givenchy Extravagance d'Amarige

I always ask people what perfume they are wearing if I cannot recognise it (unless it is a generic patchouli fruity floral in which case I don't care). Yesterday I was amazed when a lady told me she was wearing Tweed by Lentheric. It smelled wonderful on her.
