Topical is fine, it helps you appreciate the top notes.
I have a glass of homemade black currant vodka, smells even better than it tastes. DH and I keep passing it back and fore and sniffing. Rosa ribes tomorrow me thinks.

Calminaqualm · 26/06/2017 22:24

😂at Pesti! MrsMartell, you have some very happy smelling ahead of you if you're going to explore the 4160s. Shazam! is amazing. I don't know the other two, but I can highly recommend getting a set of samples to try. My favourites currently, although they keep changing (!), are Rome 1963; Inevitable Crimes of Passion; Silk, Lace & Chocolate; Sexiest Scent on the Planet. Ever. IMHO; Invisible Ben; and The Dark Heart of Old Havana. A Kiss by the Fireside and The Lion Cupboard are amazing in colder weather.

Judydreamsofhorses · 26/06/2017 22:32

SOTD was Heeley Hippie Rose. Last week of term here, crawling to the end on bloodied knees.

GreenPolishToGo · 27/06/2017 00:08

Flowers for everyone who has had a horrid day. Wasn't there a 4160 Tuesdays perfume called The Gin Cupboard? It sounds like it might be very suitable at the moment.

Calm, MrsC get thee behind me the pair of you! I am so tempted by the latest additions to 4160's Naughty Cupboard. I really, really want Midnight in the Palace Garden and Shazam! and Silk, Lace & Chocolate. Ho hum...

MrsM I think Tart's Knicker Drawer and Oriane would be right up your street - they are both beautifully powdery and elegant and there is nothing the least bit fruity or sweet about them.

Nice choice of samples Mary. vintage Y is one of my favourite greens and Doe in the Snow is a lovely, refreshing peach sorbet type of scent. I'm wearing it today.Smile

As far as I can see there's no rhyme nor reason to the regulations surrounding postage of perfume and nail polish. I read up on their enforcement a while ago and it seems any parcels of perfume or polish posted from the UK are liable to be scanned, intercepted and destroyed.] Incoming mail, however, isn't subjected to the same scrutiny.

Thanks for info re: US posting Green - will investigate further. SotD - in your honour, is Midnight in the Place Garden. I have a summer cold and it's not smelling as lush as usual today Sad. I'm getting the citrus fizz, cedar, and especially the oud, but less of the floral notes, vanilla, sandalwood and musk.

MrsM - really sorry but we were unable to negotiate an autumn 2017 workshop date for us as a group in the end. There might be individual spaces left on existing dates...worth checking the 4160 website?

Iwanttobakethree · 27/06/2017 09:58

SOTD here is Who Knew by 4160 Tuesdays, using up the last of the little sample. Theres a tiny bit that annoyingly wont come out
:(

Auldspinster · 27/06/2017 13:17

I forgot to put perfume on today, i don't deserve to post on this thread Shock.

Mrsmartell08 · 27/06/2017 14:53

Grin Auldspinser

Iwanttobakethree - whats Who Knew like?? One of the few 4160s I've never had the pleasure of sniffing.

SOTD was Escada Delicate Notes. I've been titting about with some Escada fragrances I inherited from my sister over the last few days, while also reading The A-Z Guide of Perfumes and Luca Turin's spiky reviews (e.g. Escada = trash). Given me the giggles Grin .

I've developed (probably quite predictable for a relatively newbie perfume lover) obsession with Guerlain lately. Have been scouting around for a decant of Guerlain's *Le Bolshoi Saison 2012 Traviata', but no joy. There's a full bottle on Ebay for 500-odd quid . If anyone spots anything more palatably priced, shout me please!

Iwanttobakethree · 27/06/2017 16:46

Its quite unusual and after-shavey ThreeforaPound. I like it but alas its all gone now.

Inevitable crimes of Passion is flipping gorgeous. Don't ask me for notes, I am clueless!

Mrsmartell08 · 27/06/2017 16:49

Busy busy day today so nightmusk for me
I might have a bath later...am shattered

Mrsmartell08 · 27/06/2017 18:39

I can barely keep my eyes open so have had a quick shower in lush twilight, body spray and sleepy body lotion...
😴

MrsCocoa · 27/06/2017 19:50

Auld - it's lovely Smile. A dry smoky green tea (borderline medicinal) with rose/rose geranium and wafts of homemade strawberry & vanilla cordial or jam. (Might just be that my head cold is making those sweet notes fade in and out of range... Think I had the same problem this morning with MitPG).

Judydreamsofhorses · 27/06/2017 21:07

SOTD was Chanel 19. We seem to be back to winter here, so tomorrow will be something cosier.

Auldspinster · 28/06/2017 00:02

I sprayed Tutu Woman on when I got home to atone for my scentlessness, Milton Lloyd Coco dupe.

Mrsmartell08 · 28/06/2017 08:13

Cold grey and rainy.
Knowing is sotd.

Iwanttobakethree · 28/06/2017 08:42

SOTD cool water wave cos Im not keen and its going to be a crappy work day so might as well use some of it up.....

Date Night tonight going to wear Nina Ricci Premier Jour cos I love it

MrsCocoa · 28/06/2017 09:49

Interview today... Shock
Wearing the perfume I made last time at 4160s. Much to my surprise it turned out OK (beginners luck Smile) and is a neat olfactory reminder to have faith in my own judgement...

Pestilentialone · 28/06/2017 10:02

Good luck at the interview MrsC.
Chloe EDP today, lychee and rose. It will probably end up with Killer Rose on top (everything else has this week).

VintagePerfumista · 28/06/2017 12:07

Good luck MrsC!

I am in Eau du Sud, was sick all yesterday so nothing.

Hitting the UK next week and am going to use my time to study in great detail this 4160 malarky. Grin

I'd like you to recommend me some on the basis of NO PINK MINGERS as I believe quite a lot of them verge over into fruity? Unless we are talking sharp citrus, fruity to me =PM. Grin

It's 40 degrees here btw. I keep having to say to people "please excuse the sweat" when I kiss them or shake their hands.

Auldspinster · 28/06/2017 12:26

On back shift today so just about to start work, Sotd is Ysatis, applied with a light hand.

Mrsmartell08 · 28/06/2017 12:43

Good luck mrsc 💐
Ysatis!? That's a blast from the past....i wore that in the 80s Smile I didn't use a light hand sadly Grin

Auldspinster · 28/06/2017 12:48

I'm all dolled up partly cos i had loads of time to put the slap on and i'm on shift with an inappropriately young hot fella.

Mrsmartell08 · 28/06/2017 12:50

Oooh yeah!!
Get the big guns out!! perfumistically speaking 😁
