My Eau de Sid (alias Sud!) dropped on the doormat this morning. It is gorgeous, definitely the real thing, an intensely lime zesty herby green citrus which is very refreshing. No wonder you like it so much Mrs Cocoa!

Three, I love New York 1955! I'm sure it's not to everyone's tastes because it's so sweet. On me it's all raspberry, candy floss and violet. I can hardly smell the rose. It's such a joyful, exhuberant perfume.

LittleMysMoominMamma · 24/06/2017 22:48

Thanks Vintage, I think I'm going to have to try a squirt of each on each wrist and see how I get on...

VintagePerfumista · 25/06/2017 10:00

As predicted the Atelier Neroli lasted approximately 13 seconds on me. It was a very strong -I'd say full-blown orange rather than gentle neroli for those 13 seconds, but I'd hate to be paying full bottle money!

Eau du Sud (maybe) today. Off to MIL's.

Mrsmartell08 · 25/06/2017 10:03

That's disappointing vintage
I'm of to pils today too...Dhaka is in the U.S. with work and i think she worries the children wont get fed 😉😒
I'm in need of comfort today and it's a bit grey here so prob be knowing for me today.
Have a good day all x

MrsCocoa · 25/06/2017 13:27

Has anyone mentioned yet that this week's 4160's special is What I did on my Holidays? (Green - are you out there?). Or you could save your pennies and come and join on the perfume making workshop on 12 August - pm Green or me for details Grin.

FloofyCat · 25/06/2017 13:31

Grin at Sid and Maggie!

Mary so glad you had a lovely day - I was actually thinking of you last week and wondering if you had made a decision - but couldn't remember your username without getting to the laptop to scroll back no chance as DC watch Netflix on it I'm pretty sure the Perfume Parlour do a decent dupe of POAL, I haven't used it myself but know people here have, if you want some to tide you over!

It's such a shame the Ateliers are so short lived as they smell so gorgeous - I was contemplating putting a few drops in my oil diffuser thing. I might do it and report back.

Hope everyone Ok and having peaceful Sundays - it's a busy time in RL for lots of us ATM I'm sure!

Auldspinster · 25/06/2017 15:00

I picked up another Primark cheapie for £2 - Macaroon. It's a powdery gourmand without venturing into pink minger territory. Will do for keeping in the handbag.

GreenPolishToGo · 25/06/2017 19:50

I'm here MrsC and very envious of your cherry tree festooned with a climbing rose. It sounds magnificent. I have managed to train a honeysuckle into an old apple tree and it looks gorgeous but it is in the PILs' garden not mine! Oh and whoever was searching for honeysuckle perfume, Library of Fragrance/Demeter have a Honeysuckle. I've not tried it but I've liked several of their other ones.

The heatwave has broken here, phew, so the cats are back to rolling themselves up like furry ammonites and I have ventured away from the Aqua Allegorias. SOTD is What I Did On My Holidays which I seem to love even more every time I wear it. It is such a happy scent - a blend of mint rock, suntan lotion, freshly cooked doughnuts, ice cream and the sea. DD loves it too and has a birthday coming up so the half price offer is very nicely timed.

Pestilential you are quite right, the 4160 Tuesdays Naughty Cupboard looks very tempting indeed. I never have much will power when it comes to rosy things.

And speaking of rosy things, congratulations Mary. Lovely to hear your wedding day went so well and Portrait of a Lady was a fabulous choice. I wish it was a bit a lot cheaper too, but a little POAL goes a very long way and so, so beautifully, so it surely works out better value than certain pricey scents that vanish within half an hour - ahem, Jo Malone for instance.

And yes, any perfume lovers who would like to join us for the 4160 Tuesdays MNers Make Your Own Perfume Workshop in Ealing on August 12 are very welcome. PM Mrs Cocoa or me for details if you're tempted. We are very nice and not a bit scary, promise!

SOTD is Bella Freud 1970 for a day pottering around at home.

MaryLennoxsScowl · 25/06/2017 20:10

Thanks Green!
I responded beautifully (as though hypnotised by marketing) to 4160 Tuesdays email reminder about the half price offer by ordering their Killer Rose (£10) and then samples of their vintage Mitsouko and Y, and samples of Doe in the Snow, Another Kiss by the Fireside and The Lion Cupboard. The half price one is one of the few I haven't tried from 4160s and I thought I'd done enough damage in samples without adding S&P to the bag too. I'm not keen on the idea of mint, but you all make it sound lovely so I might crack yet! I like Mitsouko so intrigued to see how a vintage one smells!

I did a samples spree on l'artisan parfumeurs on Friday so that's a shocking amount to be spending on perfume in one weekend... I feel guilty now! Blush but when they all come I'll get hours of enjoyment out of them (justifies frantically)...

MrsCocoa · 26/06/2017 08:29

Tough day ahead; found a bottle of vintage Insense, so that's SotD and it feels about right (ExH left lots of the good stuff I bought him over the years at the back of the bathroom cupboard. I quite like wearing masculines - there's also a vintage Eau Sauvage Smile).

Calminaqualm · 26/06/2017 12:43

4160Tuesdays have added more things to their Naughty Cupboard. I am having to be very strong-willed to resist!

Yesterday I wore YSL's In Love Again. It has the lovely fresh blackcurrant notes that I love. Later in the day I spritzed PP's Blackberry Bayz, which I adore. I'm waiting for my bigger bottle to arrive.

Mary I have the PP dupe of Portrait of a Lady. Although it has good reviews on there, it was not one of the successful ones for me. The patchouli seemed to be over-strong. But worth trying a small bottle just to see, especially at their prices! I generally find patchouli can be a difficult note for me generally.

Mrsmartell08 · 26/06/2017 16:53

Lush twilight for me today
Weather is on the turn here it seems...

MrsCocoa · 26/06/2017 19:54

That was an awful day...sticking with incense tonight, but this time with industrial quantities of uplifting tangerine and soothing, deep, sticky amber; it's Shazam! And it's in the 4160 naughty cupboard at the moment - perfect for anyone who enjoys energizing spicy orange smells (or who just needs a bit of a lift Smile).

Mrsmartell08 · 26/06/2017 20:08

Sorry to hearcthat mrsc
I haven't sampled 4610 scents....do I need to?

Mrsmartell08 · 26/06/2017 20:09

4160 even!!

Pestilentialone · 26/06/2017 20:18

Silly question really Mrs M Grin

MrsCocoa · 26/06/2017 20:18

Lots of love here for 4160s MrsM. And here's what Luca Turin says. Best of all you can buy 9ml bottles as well as samples.

Mrsmartell08 · 26/06/2017 20:23

Oh dear....
My poor bank balance!
I like the sound of:
Tarts knickers drawer
Shazam!
Lady rose lion

MrsCocoa · 26/06/2017 20:26

Back to Annic Goutal for a mo... I notice there are also some bargainous bottles from the States on eBay. I didn't think larger bottles could be shipped any more, or is that just in the opposite direction (UK-US rather than US-UK)?

MrsCocoa · 26/06/2017 20:32

*Annick even (see - no glasses).

We're doing our perfume making day with them in August MrsM - shout if you're interested (in for a penny, in for a pound and all that!).

MrsCocoa · 26/06/2017 20:35

Sorry, that wasn't very clear MrsM - perfume day is with 4160s not AG. .

Pestilentialone · 26/06/2017 20:39

MrsC have you had gin? If so stop, you have had enough, if not have some now Grin
It really was an awful day wasn't it Flowers, hope tomorrow is better.

Mrsmartell08 · 26/06/2017 20:41

I can't make August :(
But wasn't there talk of an autumn date?

MrsCocoa · 26/06/2017 20:48

Righto Pest - it's Gin for me now. (No longer sure whether to drink or apply topically....).
