Here they are!...

FloofyCat · 14/06/2017 18:00

Boglin welcome! I don't know the Armani one I am afraid but I'm sure more knowledgeable perfumistas will be along shortly Smile

Impressive MrsM - haven't you had your previous name for yonks, or is my memory still being shit? Grin I must confess I quite like changing my MN name regularly nowadays, but I kept my first one for about six years before I started changing it. How come you have changed? Ignore me if being too nosy! Cupcakes look very impressive btw, admiring your work! Was it a good birthday so far?

Guess what I am wearing today? it feels like it's 1988 (or thereabouts) and I am listening to INXS GrinJust like I remembered and the longevity is a lot better than modern ones

Oh vintage I really hope your cat has made a reappearance.

Calminaqualm · 14/06/2017 18:22

Hello Boglin! Yes, Perfume Parlour do a dupe of Armani White. The reviews seem to be good, 4.5/5, so it might be worth trying. They have a good search engine if you want to find something else.

Fingers crossed for the cat Vintage. It is so worrying when they disappear like that. One of our cats was a decidedly home-loving cat. Trouble was he liked our home; the next door neighbour's home; our neighbour's over the back and he also tried the students' house every year to see if there were any cat-lovers. They all fed him and he got so fat he had to go to Cat Weight Watchers!

Mrsmartell08 · 14/06/2017 18:28

After the hack a couple of years back I change it every so often.
Previously I had my original nickname for years....
I was in town today and had a spritz of mitsuoko but tbh it was far to hot for that so about to have a shower and scrub it off!
Hmm...cakes tasted very nice but I'm not sure the grey buttercream was aesthetically pleasing 😀

MrsCocoa · 14/06/2017 18:29

Hi Boglin - yes, do come and join us if you can at 4160s on Aug 12th! PM me or Green if you need any more info.

I'm a Fleur de Sel fan Smile.

Have worked out how to improve Givenchy III's staying power - just apply much more of it! Splashed it on very generously first thing this morning, et voila, it's lasted through til tea time and has been fabulous.

GreenPolishToGo · 14/06/2017 19:23

Hello Boglin, yes do join us for the 4160s Perfume Workshop on August 12 if you can. It's always lovely to meet another obsessive perfumista. Do PM Mrs Cocoa or me if you'd like more details.

Nina Ricci's Deci Dela is a lovely powdery, fruity floral. Sadly it's discontinued but it does pop up on Ebay every now and then, and it is the inspiration for 4160 Tuesdays' gorgeous Babylon Sunset, which is also very worth a sniff.

MrsM the cakes are fabulous, grey icing and all! I'm sure your DS loved them. I used to change my old user name for Christmas and Halloween - the trouble with that is I can't remember what the last incarnation was! It was pre-hack so perhaps it's just as well.

Vintage fingers still crossed for the wanderer' return. Hopefully he's just kicking up his heels somewhere. All of mine have done this at some time or other - heartless little sods.

SOTD is Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune - almost delicious enough to drink.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome and the suggestions. I'm like a kid in a sweet shop on the Perfume Parlour website at the moment! Trying to hold out until payday but keep adding things to my basket!

I'm definitely an obsessive Green, I spent longer choosing my wedding perfume (Tocca Brigitte) than I did my wedding dress!

I've found the info about the 4160 day in the thread, I won't be able to make the August one but will keep an eye out for the potential autumn date.

Hope your cat returns soon Vintage.

Fab cakes MrsM!

I've got a job interview next month, what would be your go-to 'employ me, I'm fabulous' scent?

MrsCocoa · 14/06/2017 20:37

Depends on the job, Boglin, but might be tempted to go with a light spray of Cabochard?

Oh, on powdery perfumes, would recommend 4160s Tart's Knicker Drawer, and a fabulous recent vintage discovery, Lancome's Magie. Both more on the floral than fruity end of things.

Judydreamsofhorses · 14/06/2017 20:43

SOTD was Diptyque Philosykos. I hope all the poorly people are on the mend, and vintage's cat is back.

Mrsmartell08 · 14/06/2017 20:57

Powdery?
Oh, my favourite!
I'm loving Valentino poudre ATM but it's hard to get now (limited edition) and I also really liked the narcisso Rodriguez poudree too
Cashmere by next is a cheapie but a fab scent
If I were or a job interview tomorrow I would wear rive gauche...a woody, classy floral imo

Mrsmartell08 · 14/06/2017 21:51

I think I may have to get myself a sample of tarts knicker drawer!

MrsCocoa · 14/06/2017 22:21

Some good news to report on the vintage Avon front. My bargain job lot of six bottles (5 unnamed) has arrived. One smashed in transit, everything else intact, and the two sniffed so far seem in pretty good condition (think these date from early/mid 60s?).

The Persian Wood is great; open with a whiff of spice and aldehydes, then comes a blast of dry moss with something animalic at it's heart, then it eventually warms into a softer amber/sandalwood dry-down.

There is also a bottle of Rapture - which has the buttery, plummy, aspects of vintage Femme (I need to try them side by side). The other bottles turned out to be Occur!, Elegance & Charisma. Smile

VintagePerfumista · 15/06/2017 07:10

Morning scented ones.

No cat yet. We are making light of it (dp and I) and saying "what are they like durrrr" to dd whilst on the QT going "aaaargh" to each other. We live behind a petrol station and the cat spends a lot of time on their forecourt but the guy says he hasn't seen him since Monday which fits in with him disappearing between 5am and 7am on Tuesday. I have the local cat rescue people scouring with his photo (he has a wonky tail so is very distinctive) . Was in school for 8 hrs of marks-meetings yesterday so no time to do anything, but today will keep hunting. Sad

I have some Rapture- a massive very un-Avon-y normal bottle. Charisma, Elegance and Occur! are very much the 3 Avon classics I think, so that was a real good score Mrs Cocoa!

Was in RG for the meetings and will probably be today too to counteract cat stress and dd exam stress (yesterday's was easy but today's is SATS so external)

Welcome to Boglin and hello to our new look Estee Lauder lover!

MrsCocoa · 15/06/2017 07:27

Sorry to hear DCat is still missing Vintage. Keeping everything crossed. Flowers

FloofyCat · 15/06/2017 11:36

Oh vintage fingers crossed for your moggy. Hopefully he is just keeping you on your toes. A friend of mine had a cat return after a three week absence, looking happy and sleek so obviously had a fully catered holiday elsewhere! I do hope he returns soon with his wonky tail between his legs.

I have another contender for the MN bat perfume brigade secret signal for Somerset House etc. Brace yourselves, they aren't the most tasteful item of clothing you will see

Mrsmartell08 · 15/06/2017 11:37

Oh dear. Hope the cat is just off having an adventure vintage...
Valentino poudre today. Lovely creamy powdery gorgeousness. And the bottle is so pretty too!
I loved Avon occur! I had most of theirs as a youngster...Sasha, charisma, moonwind, timeless, oddysey, eau givree....

Mrsmartell08 · 15/06/2017 11:38

Three...did you ever order any sun moon stars!?

Mrsmartell08 · 15/06/2017 18:51

I've just bid on loads of avon...
Baa baa 🐑

MrsCocoa · 15/06/2017 18:54

I will if you will Floofy Grin

MrsCocoa · 15/06/2017 19:23

MrsM - one of my best buys has been an early 70s sample set of 14 x 5ml Avon perfumes. Everything unopened - so excellent for reference purposes. What have you bid on?

Mrsmartell08 · 15/06/2017 19:35

Oh loads! :)
Moonwind, charisma, timeless, soft musk....

MrsCocoa · 15/06/2017 19:46

Look out for Elusive (sadly it is) and Unforgettable!

Mrsmartell08 · 15/06/2017 19:54

Oh I remember unforgettable!
[Pardon the pun]

Judydreamsofhorses · 15/06/2017 20:16

Sorry to hear the cat's still absent, vintage, fingers crossed he turns up soon. SOTD was Heeley Sel Marin, for spluttering my way through Thursday. Hurry up, weekend, then two weeks until the summer holidays.

Dlpdep · 15/06/2017 20:18

I tried diorissimo today on foot of you wearing it. Very floral, I'm only home so I'll be sniffing it all night. I don't know if I'm still getting just top notes but it hasn't settled into anything different from the opening note just yet!

What is philosykos like? I always hear people talking about it, but it's not something I can test anywhere locally.
