Puppy - join me as a confused but euphoric perfume whore. Its fun :-)

Puppylucky · 09/06/2017 05:23

Indeed it is Three For!
SOTD is O'Driu Scent of an Angel - a sample buy from Lucky Scent bought in an attempt to educate myself. It goes on in a delicious swoosh of woody vetyver and then promptly disappears so I will be trying again with something else later today whilst absorbing the election results ( not in UK)

Badders123 · 09/06/2017 10:02

Good morning!!!!
I'm wearing diamonds and rubies today

VintagePerfumista · 09/06/2017 10:09

I was wearing Paris when I did the shopping, then I had a shower and now I need to decide what to wear for work.

Might go for 19 today.

Interesting times...

Calminaqualm · 09/06/2017 10:51

Definitely "Who Knew?" today ... When I first got this one, I thought yuk as it is so unusual and so completely unsweet. But I kept trying to pick out the notes and testing it, and I now love it. On me it is mainly rose and geranium and is quite linear.

GreenPolishToGo · 09/06/2017 17:16

Who Knew has to be the perfect choice for such a surprising outcome Calm. Alas, I don't have it (yet...) so I made do with with another 4160 Tuesdays' sample, Doe in the Snow. Though 'made do' is hardly fair to such a lovely peach floral chypre. Yep, another for the wishlist!

And speaking of 4160 Tuesdays, the new half price Scent of the Week is Black Velvet Café, which is possibly a bit too bloke-ish for me but it is a beautiful blend of coffee, woods and oudh. Hmm, I shall ponder.

Oh and baa, baa, baa Badders and Floofy because I seem to have small bottles of White Satin and Lace on the way to me. Clearly I have no will power and am infinitely suggestible. Blush

Keeping you company in Who Knew? Calmina. One of my favourite roses. On me, past the herbal opening, it's rose, green tea and strawberry opal fruits Grin.

Badders123 · 09/06/2017 18:03

Green....😂🐑

MrsCocoa · 10/06/2017 21:07

Prompted by Thursday night, and memories stirred by the perfume history thread, I've ventured onto French eBay for a bottle of Choc de Cardin. Haven't tried the EdP before. And spotted a bundle of old Avon, including Persian Wood, which I've been curious about, so had had a punt. Fingers crossed - have had mixed experiences on lots like this. here. No idea what else is in the bundle but that is at least half the fun.

Badders123 · 10/06/2017 21:11

Oh sounds lovely!
Im perfumless today as I'm ill but I might have a spritz of twilight before bed
Anyone else find themselves wonder what perfume/cologne politicians wear??
#5am musings

MrsCocoa · 11/06/2017 08:55

Get well soon Badders.

VintagePerfumista · 11/06/2017 10:25

Get well soon Badders.

I am in Rive Gauche PP (no, really, what a surprise!) though did venture into Dioressence for family do last night.

Badders123 · 11/06/2017 10:27

Back to Dr tomorrow. Sigh.
Big week this week so I could do without it really :(
I shall have a bath and a spritz of something comforting

Calminaqualm · 11/06/2017 11:53

Green, tempting though the latest offer is from 4160Tuesdays, I shall have to resist. I have bought bottles of both Sexiest Scent and Inevitable Crimes so have decided to hold off on the spending for a while! I have lots of samples to enjoy.

I have just finished a sample of Profumum Roma's Ichnusa. It is the greenest, woodiest fig I have ever smelt and is going on my wish list, perhaps for a bigger decant as a full price bottle is Very Expensive.

Fingers crossed for the Avon, MrsCocoa!

I'm sorry you're not well, Badders. Hopefully you're able to enjoy some of this lovely sunshine, even if it's just looking out at it. I suppose politicians would need a perfume with longevity, but low sillage. Something classic and classy that would be acceptable to most people. Perhaps one of the Chanels, although a British perfumer would be better?

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 11/06/2017 12:29

I reckon Jezza forgoes scent, but uses imperial leather in a nostalgic way. (As I do! Dh and I are partial to talc in creases and I got it because it's a pound! As soon as I used it I was five again in my dps bathroom. Used to be dead posh) Teresa would wear something 70s and classic, but icy and stern. Either that or vintage poison.
I got the pp rG too, along with Gris Montaigne. It's not like the current one much, but I likes it.
Hope you are ok Badders. Something comforting and warm?

VintagePerfumista · 11/06/2017 12:45

Teresa would wear Flowerbomb because she thinks it's posh and classy. Urgh, she's just this second appeared on Italian telly. (she is the shoe woman isn't she? Leopard skin etc?- if she is, then definitely Flowerbomb, if not, then boring old Chanel 5 because she thinks it's posh and classy and because Mr Teresa has bought it for her ever since they were courting.

Jezza wears green Lynx. And is hot hot hot. Grin and getting hotter by the minute.

Badders123 · 11/06/2017 13:24

Agree re JC and imperial leather!
No idea re may...prob a pink minger like flowerbomb...
Yardley lace today
Nice and comforting

MrsCocoa · 11/06/2017 13:39

Nah! It's going to be Lush: how about Smell of the Weather Turning.

And Penhaligon's Bluebell?

MrsCocoa · 11/06/2017 14:13

SotD: Soir de Grasse - Gallimard. Violet and moss with a hint of carnation.

GreenPolishToGo · 11/06/2017 14:32

Poor Badders, I hope you're on the mend soon, Tonsilitis is so nasty.Flowers

Calm, having just splashed out on Oriane (worth every penny - especially with a 30 per cent discount) and Inevitable Crimes of Passion, I'm quite relieved to conclude Black Velvet Café is not really me. I think it would be very nice on DH but he would run a mile!

I'm enjoying pondering politicians' perfumes and agree Lush has some very suitable scents, by title anyway. TM (yes, of leopard print shoe fame or even infamy) can have Karma as they haven't yet made one called Hubris. JC, in view of the extraordinary transformation in his political prospects, can have Stayin' Alive. Ruth Davidson can have Celebrate and the DUP can have Devil's Nightcap. Tim Farron can share Stayin' Alive and the SNP can have The Comforter (because they need it).

Harold Wilson was right, a week is a long time in politics. Or as the Daily Mirror put it - cor blimey!

FloofyCat · 11/06/2017 16:33

Relieved to see perfumistas back...we all went a bit quiet there! I had visions of open mouthed MNers all over the UK (and beyond!) staring at their TVs with perfume bottles in their hands but forgotten Grin

Karma! An inspired choice green. What a shame there are no perfumes entitled FUBAR as this is surely what this all is

I don't feel eligible to contribute to this thread today as I am currently in Katy Perry's Meow - the pink cat bottle Shamefully I really quite like it although I suspect it's edging into Pink Minger category Blush

Normal service will be resumed tomorrow Grin

Hope you feel better soon badders!

GreenPolishToGo · 11/06/2017 21:31

I fear you may be right about FUBAR Floofy but where there's life there's hope, and need of vittles as Gaffer Gamgee said.

And I love the Meow and Purr bottles. They always make me smile when I see them in pride of place on DD's dressing table. If Katy Perry's other perfumes came in cat-shaped bottles we'd snap them up.

But, ooh, speaking of cats, I have finally, decades after first coveting them on the Christmas gift shelves in Boots, snagged a Max Factor cat. The perfume it comes with is called Exuberance and I'll be surprised if it's not awful. But the cat is magnificent. I expect DD and DS will both be laying claim to her.

SOTD was a sample of Penhaligon's As Sawira, which had lovely rose top notes succeeded by an overpowering blast of oud. I am really not an oud fan. A scrubbing session and a shower failed to shift it, so I ended up swabbing my wrists with acetone and then covering up the traces with JHAG Lady Vengeance . Only I think I can still smell it under the Lady V...

I have been absolutely floored by some horrid virus, can't taste or smell anything. I put on a sample of FM Noir Espices earlier. It's probably very nice.

GreenPolishToGo · 11/06/2017 21:38

Oh and I forgot - Lush Death and Decay or Day of the Dead for UKIP. Grin

Join me in the sick bay judy! 🐑
I rather like the bottles of katy Perry perfumes...in fact I like many bottles more than their contents!
