Thought I'd start a nostalgic thread about products from the past, after being reminded about Timotei. Used to lose that stuff. They had great commercials too. VO5 apparently doesn't exist in shops like it used to.

I think the most iconic commercial was the flake in the bath one, where it overflows.

Wella Herbal Conditioner - a white squat plastic "bottle" with pics of herbs on it. My hair smelt like a spring meadow and shone so much you'd need sunglasses. Nil since has been as good as that conditioner - sob! Alberto Balsam Mandarin shampoo - fab, foamy, lovely smell, easy to rinse out. Gutted was discontinued - I wrote to the company asking is it true it is no more (another sob!) - they replied yes but here is a £5 voucher.......Miners lipsticks - creamy, moisturising - two sizes (anyone remember they did a tiny one and normal size one so you could buy say 4 tiny ones to trial the colours?) In those days the shades were many, e.g. say 10 shades of pink - now you get a choice of 10 colours in total! That temp hair colour in a Toblerone shape white tube? I used to use Honey Hazel another glossy show-stopping shiny hair product. And in those days for some reason hair colour was simply applied, went right through yr hair with no problem and didnt seem to stain the basin?!!!!!

-2- Mon Cherie cherry liqueur chocs with a self-satisfyingly crunchy cherry inside, not a slightly flobby one like cherry liqueur chocs nowadays. Anyone remember a gorgeous perfume called Adagio? Was in a black tallish slim box with a photo of a loving couple on the front hugging. It was when there was quite a selection of cheaper/dearer perfumes (if you see what I mean!) so a bit dearer than L'Aimant. Sorry to go on, a final one (for now!) - was it Max Factor lipgloss in a glass tube with a ball you rolled along yr lips? "Your lips........ they're suddenly shinier......" was the ad and we ALL bought it!!!

Cosmetics to go violet nights bath oil -gorgeous and also a Turkish delight scented body wash.

Buf puf exfoliating facial sponges. I would pay good money for these again.

Ditto Vidal Sassoon almond shampoo and conditioner.

I wonder why they don't bring old products back from time to time. I'm sure they would be popular

Japanese washing grains from Body Shop. Did wonders for my revolting teenage skin. I never understood why they came in a cardboard tub though. The whole thing used to dissolve and have to be transferred to a small Tupperware after 2 uses.

And Body Shop used to do a little tub of mega heavy duty banana conditioner that you slapped on and wrapped your hair in a towel for 20 minutes. I'm sure it did a better job than Elasticizer!

Twiterati - I absolutely loved AquaManda, and I read somewhere that they had revived it. I bought some - much, much more expensive than the original - and they've done something to the formula, it's just not the same.

Can't find actual Vosene anywhere Hmm they had Vosene for kids and 3 in 1 Vosene. But not of the yummy brown stuff that smells of the 80's.

Ooh one thing they still do but not seen first hand in ages is imperial leather soap with the sticker on. Am I imagining things or was coal tar soap a thing.

CoolCarrie · 07/04/2017 16:36

There definitely was a coal tar soap, and Pears and Knight's Castile

CoolCarrie · 07/04/2017 16:39

One thing I don't miss are the sanitary towels which felt like pillows between your legs! thank goodness for modern materials we have now

Badders123 · 07/04/2017 18:46

Yes! They were like tiny mattresses!

MixedUpConfusion · 24/04/2017 23:19

They sell Vosene in Asda. I bought it all the time. The property brown stuff. Home Bargains too
