J-Lo Glow. I can't stop sniffing myself. Any surprise perfume successes?

I'm a bit of a perfume junkie, and I like reading perfume reviews. I kept reading about how JLo Glow was surprisingly nice, so when I went into town on Monday I got a sample strip.

Got halfway up the road from the shop and turned back. Had to buy it. Couldn't stop sniffing the strip!

It was £20! Which means I'm quite happy to splash it all over and save my 'naice' perfume for best and in the case of Joy for never - what was I thinking?

Any other surprise hits out there that I should watch for?

SJP Lovely always comes up in these threads and with good reason. It's a lovely clean musk with a bit of salt which is particularly good for work.

Madonna Truth or Dare is a very good tuberose and gardenia.

The first one from Mariah Carey is gorgeous and I always get loads of compliments when I wear it. £18'on amazon for 100ml. Bit different the last 100ml Jo Malone hubby bought me for £105!

troodiedoo · 22/03/2017 13:28

Suddenly madame glamour from lidls. Gets a lot of compliments, was even stopped by a random woman in the street once!

I wouldn't be without my trusty ck one either.

MumBod · 22/03/2017 13:31

I've read about SJP Lovely, but I found it a bit headachey on me.

I also got Be Delicious because I love apple scented things, but I'm a bit disappointed in how quickly the appleyness disappears.

Ah, CKOne. I wore that when I was living in my first flat, doing my PGCE, aged 21.

Brings back happy memories. My DS2 wears it now and it makes me smile Smile

God Jo Malone is so expensive, isn't it?

Love JL Glow! I also wear Next Just Pink and Body Shop Japanese Blossom. I love Ralph Lauren Romance but is abit to pricey to buy regularly, the Next and Body Shop ones smell very similar to it

Cocolepew · 22/03/2017 13:36

I love glow. I wear Chloe Narcisse nearly every day, usually find a big bottle online for around £20.

Cocolepew · 22/03/2017 13:36

Oh yes Just Pink is lovely too.

tissuesosoft · 22/03/2017 13:36

*too

LoupGarou · 22/03/2017 13:37

Avon's Little Black Dress is lovely, they do a body spray version too which is great for scent layering.

DrAbbyYates · 22/03/2017 13:37

It's SO expensive, and it's only eau de cologne!!!

tissuesosoft · 22/03/2017 13:39

Glow is currently on offer in Boots from £29.50 to £19.66 for 50ml, might have to buy it.

akwan · 22/03/2017 13:42

Shameless place mark

JanetStWalker · 22/03/2017 13:44

SJP Stash is quite naice too, smells surprisingly 'niche'.

I'm partial to a bit of JLo Glow too, love it after a bath in the evening.

WellTidy · 22/03/2017 13:45

Ocean Dream by Georgio Beverley Hills. 30ml for about £12.99. I wore it loads in the 1990s and I still like it now.

For some reason (I suspect it is being discontinued) the original Vera Wang perfume is discounted on loads of websites. I paid about £27 for 100ml recently. It was my wedding perfume and I adore it.

JacquelineChan · 22/03/2017 13:45

i kid you not , the Britney Spears one was amazing . Fantasy ...something

HoneyDragon · 22/03/2017 13:45

Avons new one Percieve is a lovely everyday scent. Gardenia and vanilla and sandlewood, it annoys me though as it reminds me of something expensive but can't think what.

JacquelineChan · 22/03/2017 13:47

Radiance! not Fantasy. I don't think it is still sold on the highstreet

ADisappearingDreamOfYesterday · 22/03/2017 13:48

Deseo by J Lo is lovely too, it's a very "summer holiday" scent and smells much more expensive than it is (if that makes sense to people!)

troodiedoo · 22/03/2017 13:50

Think I might have to go and buy some glow today. Dammit was trying to cut down on perfume spends Grin

MumBod · 22/03/2017 13:52

I'm usually a perfume snob, but you're all making me think.

I'm busy making notes here!

I've read the Britney Spears Fantasy is a good one. I'll have a sniff of that next time I'm in town.

Conversely, has anyone been disappointed by an expensive classic? My Dsis bought me a bottle of Chanel No 5 for my fortieth and it was horrid. I gave it away to a colleague

Slightly regretting my latest attempt at grown-up perfume - Joy de Patou. Hmm.

I got Glow for £20. A big bottle. From one of those discount perfume shops.

They still had Sshh! by poor Jade Goody. Do you think they're still making that or would it have been a really old bottle? I was surprised to see it after all this time.

MumBod · 22/03/2017 13:55

Radiance, eh?

My go to grown up work perfume is DVF Diane EDT (nicer than the parfum) costs me £15 on amazon and loads of complements. I imagine it won't be available for much longer.
