J-Lo Glow. I can't stop sniffing myself. Any surprise perfume successes?

I'm a bit of a perfume junkie, and I like reading perfume reviews. I kept reading about how JLo Glow was surprisingly nice, so when I went into town on Monday I got a sample strip.

Got halfway up the road from the shop and turned back. Had to buy it. Couldn't stop sniffing the strip!

It was £20! Which means I'm quite happy to splash it all over and save my 'naice' perfume for best and in the case of Joy for never - what was I thinking?

Any other surprise hits out there that I should watch for?

Also live jlo glow - smells like honeysuckle. Spring fresh zoflora smells like it and have been cleaning with it recently

troodiedoo & hollyisalovelyname thanks for the suggestions for new citrus fragrances. You're right, I do like the fragrances to be quite complex so will try them.

Bottlesoflove · 26/03/2017 18:01

Lidl also do a copy of Chanel no. 5, and boss orange

MumBod · 26/03/2017 18:02

Boudoir is my longest-used perfume. I've been using it for nearly 18 years. It smells of good times to me Smile

Made a new bargain fragrance discovery yesterday - Next Summer Sun.

I had a sniff while out shopping with DH/DD2, and remarked that it smelled just like Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess. DD2 then sneaked back and bought me a bottle for Mother's Day! It's lovely - so summery.

MumBod · 26/03/2017 18:47

What a nice DD you have.

I just looked at the Savers website. I feel that it is my duty to tell you all about 'Sexxxy Shoo' perfume (see link below, is the third one along on the second row).

www.savers.co.uk/fragrance/

Comes in a black bottle shaped like a sexxxy (sic) shoo (sic). I am intrigued. I may have to visit my nearest branch of Savers. Does the perfume smell like shoes? Shoes that have been worn by somebody sexxxy (sic)??

Nettletheelf · 26/03/2017 19:36

Breaking news. There is a whole world of Sexxxy Shoo variants out there, including Miami Neon Nights, Ibiza Pink and Wild Stripes!!!

Marks and Spencer Maison Le Senteurs range in Verveine is a lovely citrusy scent £15

ChocolateSherberts2017 · 29/03/2017 20:35

%hollyisalovelyname% thanks for the suggestion, I'll pop into M&S over the weekend and have a sniff

BarrackerBarmer · 29/03/2017 22:13

Was it this vanilla by L'Occitane, MumBod? Teeny bottle of perfume extract.

It's like the holy grail of vanilla for perfume lovers. Sells for silly money on ebay. I use it like it's liquid gold!

Fab thread - going on holiday in a couple of weeks and am going to definitely try some of these.
Though I may be turfed off the thread for admitting to having just treated myself to Jo Malone lime basil and mandarin !

I used to love Paloma Picasso many moons ago - I find it too sweet now but used to get many compliments on that one !

HiddlestonTurnerSandwich · 30/03/2017 06:04

Agree - inspiring thread - I shall definitely be sniffing round the celeb fragrance section next time I'm in Boots. Btw, ordered bottle of Obsession with my Tesco order yesterday - bit heavy for work but a great evening chillout treat!

tobleroneaddict · 30/03/2017 10:01

Not read the whole thread, so it may have already been mentioned, but Curious by Britney Spears Blush I bought it in Spain when I was 19 and I was ashamed then Grin. I haven't bought it since, because it really doesn't last, but I still love the smell!

PNGirl · 30/03/2017 12:17

I love Chopard Casmir – it’s a bit like being smacked in the face with a vanilla-soaked flannel so too strong for some. It’s about £15 in various places online and lasts forever. One spray is enough.

I recommend Black Musk from The Body Shop which is similar to Diesel Loverdose; quite licorice-y.

I loved the Avon Herve Leger which was discontinued; wearing it today.

Boofeckinghoo · 01/04/2017 16:43

To all those posters that recommend SJP Lovely, thank you!
It is my new favourite!

HelsinkiLights · 01/04/2017 17:33

I've been pinching my DD's River Island Craze. (She hasn't noticed yet.) It's £10. It does smell chocolatey to start with then the white flowers come through & I can detect a note of sandalwood. After a few hours it starts to have some similar undertones to Liz Earle No15 on me. (LE 15 being one of my all time faves.)
I've also 'borrowed' DD's Impulse True Love spray, according to the blurb it has notes of Freesia & Amber. I mix it up with Craze & they smell even more lovelier together.
I've got my eye on Versace Woman as it's on offer in Boots at £16.38 at the moment.

Thegirlisnotright · 01/04/2017 19:59

Any tips for best summer perfumes?! I know nothing 🙈 The only perfume I own is clinique happy

Mummybear8 · 01/04/2017 22:01

chocoatesherberts I am also a big fan of fresh citrus scents and two pretty cheap ones I always have loved are Elizabeth Arden "Green tea" (dirt cheap everywhere I've seen it - usually in tk maxx for under £20) which is really lemony, and Dolce & Gabbana "light blue" which just smells so fresh and summery, like clean clothes and holidays.

Another everyday favourite is Paul Smith "Rose" which is a great and very cheap (£20-£25 for 100ml) perfume. Currently wearing Narciso Rodriguez Poudree which is a delicate and feminine fragrance that lasts for ages.

MumBod · 01/04/2017 22:09

I absolutely love NR Poudree. It's my current favourite of my more expensive perfumes.

Still loving that JLo though!
