J-Lo Glow. I can't stop sniffing myself. Any surprise perfume successes?

I'm a bit of a perfume junkie, and I like reading perfume reviews. I kept reading about how JLo Glow was surprisingly nice, so when I went into town on Monday I got a sample strip.

Got halfway up the road from the shop and turned back. Had to buy it. Couldn't stop sniffing the strip!

It was £20! Which means I'm quite happy to splash it all over and save my 'naice' perfume for best and in the case of Joy for never - what was I thinking?

Any other surprise hits out there that I should watch for?

It's rubbish when things get discontinued. L'Occitane used to do a lovely vanilla perfume a few years ago that I loved. The vanilla became too expensive so they stopped making it Sad

MumBod , Radiance was so nice it was my favourite and i used it up quickly , i did buy another bottle and used that too. but then realised i had 4 or 5 on the go i needed to use up.

Then i couldn't find Radiance any more after that!

Jessica Simpson's Fancy Nights. Not what I expected at all. Really gorgeous amber/green fragrance and not at all sweet.

troodiedoo · 22/03/2017 14:51

MumBod bought dd miss dior for Xmas and I'm really not keen on it, just smells a bit synthetic to me. I don't think she likes it as much as she thought she would, but is thankfully too polite to say.

LoupGarou · 22/03/2017 15:01

honeydragon yy, Avon's perceive is really nice.

MumBod · 22/03/2017 15:16

Troodiedoo that's a shame. Miss Dior is supposed to be the classic first posh perfume, isn't it?

Al rehab - soft. £2.45 from Amazon, vanilla musk type roll on
Nenuco cologne spray - meant for babies but lovely and lemony, about £6 for a huge bottle

MumBod · 22/03/2017 15:28

Perfume for babies?!

But they smell gorgeous anyway!

No Malone is expensive. I have one bottle a year as a birthday present from my husband

loopylulu80 · 22/03/2017 15:33

** Jo Malone

troodiedoo · 22/03/2017 15:35

MumBod she also has narcisso Rodriguez which is gorgeous and I like a sly squirt of.

MumBod · 22/03/2017 15:36

I buy Lime, Basil and Mandarin for my DP, and Red Roses for my mum.

They're the only two JMs I can get along with these days. I find the rest a bit headachey to wear on the skin, though I like the candles and bath products.

I love Narciso Rodriguez!

Poudree is my favourite, but DP bought me the original one too by mistake and I love that too. It's my grown-up scent well, they all are, I'm 43

J-Lo Glow was the first perfume I owned Smile

BellonaBelladonna · 22/03/2017 15:58

I really loathe Jo Malone perfumes. Too much like the Body Shop of old for me. Or even like my herb garden. Why would I want ro smell of basil or blackcurrant?

I feel traitorous writing this as I feel I ought to love it.

RicketyCricket · 22/03/2017 16:01

Another vote for Jessica Simpson Fancy Nights here. It smells infinitely more expensive than it is, really dark and mossy and opulent and in no way sweet (I hate sweet perfume). A real grown up woman's scent. Beautiful.

MumBod people in the part of Spain that my sister lives in are very keen on baby cologne. I've never understood why, babies smell amazing and do not need bloody perfume!

Mum bod the library of fragrance do a new baby perfume so you can smell like a new baby. I haven't tried that one though

Surprised no one has mentioned the soap and glory perfumes yet

MumBod · 22/03/2017 16:12

I do have the Library of Fragrance baby powder one. It makes me nostalgic.

I bought the JLo perfume after reading about it in Sally Hughes book. I really liked it but it reminded me of something that I couldn't put my finger on......then one day I knew was it was, Atrixo hand cream! Grin

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 22/03/2017 16:28

Avons new one Percieve is a lovely everyday scent.

I really hope it's the same one, if it is then it's not new, it's the perfume I wore at my wedding in 2002.

Off to search. Thanks @HoneyDragon Smile

astormgivenflesh · 22/03/2017 16:34

Britney Spears midnight fantasy is amazing, I have been stopped in the street, in a shop and on a train by people wanting to know what it is! It lasts a long time and is always on offer; I just got a bottle the size of my head for &20 from Superdrug!

Also Glow was only £10 in Morrisons recently!

user1467976192 · 22/03/2017 16:37

Mum bod they now do baby shampoo and new baby

MumBod · 22/03/2017 16:43

I hope it smells of new baby heads and not bums!

I have an M&S perfume called Island Sunset it's lovely I had loads of people commenting on it.
I also love Avon ones, Perceive and Alpha and Life.

Itsnothingoriginal · 22/03/2017 17:16

Island Sunset is really nice! Quite a few of the M&S cheap ones are good tho they don't last long. True Red is great for work!

I'm also a fan of the Body Shop body sprays like Red Musk - Polynesian Island Tiare is lovely and I actually prefer it over my Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess in the summer Blush
