Good question badders.

It is but rather non specifically IYSWIM. It's not like a bang of rose as many florals are (which I like actually, but I can see that some folk wouldn't).

It's light (ish) and pretty without being sweet. And it isn't powdery. There's a nice hit of sensuality. Or at least this is on me.

Go have a squirt and see what you think!!

YERerseISootTHEwindy · 03/03/2017 19:51

I wear estee lauder beautiful

It is a bit vintage I know, but it realy is one of the loveliest smells in the world for me.
People compliment me on it all the time.

I have never found a smell which I have loved so much. My husband loves me wearing this perfume too. I have tried to go with something a bit trendier but it never lasts long and I always go back.

Badders123 · 03/03/2017 19:52

I will!
I'm going to try white linen by Estée Lauder next time I'm in town

GetAHaircutCarl · 03/03/2017 19:56

SOTD here was Spellbound.

Far too much for a day in the house, overseeing builders and trying to finish the (overdue) edits on a script. Seriously, the boys working on the house already think I'm insane thanks in part to a text I sent one by accident saying 'You are sex on a stick'.

Me dancing around the house smelling like the eighties must have only confirmed their suspicions.

YERerseISootTHEwindy · 03/03/2017 20:01

I got given white linen as a prezzie... not one of my faves on me, but it smells lovely on my mum.

My faves from estee are beautiful for daytime and sensuous for evening ( if I want something a bit more erm.....y'know)

I tried the aerin ones and didn't much like them... they were very simple and did not have enough of a journey for me.

Badders123 · 03/03/2017 20:14

I wear knowing ATM
Lovely
My late aunt always wore Estée Lauder -
She was very glamorous! - and white linen was one of her faves

Pestilentialone · 03/03/2017 20:15

Continuing the Eau de cologne theme here with L'Eau de L'Artisan. From bright green citrus to salty tea, all in one day.
I'm going to hang my coat outside this weekend. A different perfume each day has left it smelling like a "foul and pestilent congregation of vapors" or at the very least a little confused Confused

Imscarlet · 03/03/2017 20:33

I love the sound of that, but I'm not sure that I can wear basil. Like basil and mandarin smells like cat's piss on me though I like it on others. I'm putting it down to the basil.

Another perfume that smells awful on me is Chanel Chance. It smells like aftershave on me. In a bad way.

Pestilentialone · 03/03/2017 20:45

Ginger smells like cats piss on me.
Creed Green Irish Tweed smells like a cheaper version of Lynx, but soooo nice on others.
Lola - a scrubber. Thank you lovely lady on the benefit counter for rescuing me and cleansing my arms.
I have a bottle of Marc Jacobs ginger splash, beautiful as a room spray, nauseating and repellent on me.
Estee Lauder - I don't hate it, I just wouldn't bother wearing it again.
Getahair you builders must really love you Grin great text.

MrsCocoa · 03/03/2017 23:25

Yes Silverhawk I think that's right.

Each bottle of Cabochard I've smelt has been slightly different. Not just age and reformulations but the EDT, EDP and Parfum are also a little different, (and then there's storage variables....). There is a strong family resemblance though, until the more recent reformulations, where the oak moss seems to have gone missing andl the smoky depth lost. Thank you again - it's been wonderful to have had the opportunity to compare your bottles.

I am loving the Cabochard mini that I picked up on ebay.de (for any newbies on here, ebay.de is a fantabulous source of harder-to-come-by/vintage/old stuff- for some reason they have a lot, and it's reasonably priced)

All you Cabochard lovers definitely need to get your chops round some Bandit though. It's like Cabochard at top volume.

Flowerbomb- I thought I'd hate it and sneer, and I'm still definitely never going to buy it or wear it, but it is actually quite pretty. It's not a pink-fruit-floral- just a nice hot summer floral. It doesn't smell cheap like most pink-fruities.

White Linen is gorgeous- has a hint of the crispness of Chanel 19 and then a touch of Aromatics Elixir too. It's a business meeting perfume IMO.

I like Beautiful too- I remember when it came out it was one of the ones (along with Safari, which I keep forgetting I want to get hold of, and the original Carolina Herrera) that I made a bee-line for for a squirt in department stores.

I have been very boring and had 3 days in a row of the Chanel 19 mini.

MrsCocoa · 04/03/2017 06:25

I didn't know this Vintage - is there an easy way to translate page views, or is your German better than mine? How do postage costs work out?

OP posts:
VintagePerfumista · 04/03/2017 06:34

I have A level but I can remember Ich bin Deutsch and Happy Christmas lol.

I just work it out from where the words on the ebay platform are Grin

Postage is fine- I am in Italy, and unlike most UK sellers they don't use the daylight-robbery ebay-international thingy which is £12 a pop.

Never had a problem, and have picked up some true gems.

Lots of old stuff on Spanish ebay as well, but mostly very over-priced IMO.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 04/03/2017 06:49

Has anyone tried the new Guerlain yet? I'm hoping for something better than robe noire and all its flankers. A return to the glory of Guerlain. Today I'm having a break from Mac, (which has had mixed reactions. Typically now I've bought it I cant smell it. But one person really loved it) SOTD is going to be mmm untitled. I think it demands a brighter day, but I also think it's a good city scent.

VintagePerfumista · 04/03/2017 06:57

I have gone for old Fidji today, and having compared my bottle of new, with my mini of old, just underline what has been said about Cabochard....the new might as well be called "vaguely reminiscent of Fidji body spray" for all it resembles the old. Which is stunning. Pretty, but not pink-fruity-flowery pretty. Immediately takes me back to airport duty frees in the early 80s.

MrsCocoa · 04/03/2017 07:39

Thanks Vintage! Wished I'd known this when guiding DD's modern language option Grin

Have dabbed on some vintage Eau de Rochas. Have picked a number of Rochas miniatures very cheaply and they've all been really interesting scents that I've been enjoying wearing.

Badders123 · 04/03/2017 08:22

Vintage...my late aunt loved safari too!
You obv have similar (excellent) tastes 😊
I might pop to town next week and treat myself....

GetAHaircutCarl · 04/03/2017 09:05

Have gone for Flowerbomb today.

It's not exactly summer but the sun is shining here and I can see the sea! It feels light and pretty but not girlish or sweet, with enough stuff going on to satisfy.

LesIncompetents · 04/03/2017 09:50

Safari is definitely in my top ten of all time favourites, but have not tried the newer formulations. I find it to be a bit of a monster, so I save it for weekends and only do one spray (I'm a primary school dinner lady, don't want to be putting the kids off their lunch.)

Wearing Carillon Pour Un Ange today, another monster! It makes me feel like throwing open the window and shouting 'It's Spring Tiiiiiime!' in the style of Noddy Holder from Slade Grin

Pestilentialone · 04/03/2017 10:19

Finally made my way to the last of the 4160 samples. Today is Ealing Green. It is very fitting for a day in pyjamas mending the fridge. Outdoors, fresh, eau de cologne meets rose. It will remind me of the things I would rather be doing.

Imscarlet · 04/03/2017 13:50

Gentlewoman for me today. All almonds and lavender in the opening for me. I haven't had an almondy perfume before. The lavender is a bit strong but is dying down - it reminds me very much of the Bold lavender washing powder, which I don't like, it's the one washing powder that really does linger and linger. I do quite like this one, but I don't love it the way that I love the Lady Vengence. I'm going to try the midnight oud tomorrow.

Badders123 · 04/03/2017 14:56

Well ladies
It's a lovely day here and dh is away next week overseas so we went to town this morning
I decided to go to the local Debenhams as they have a really good range
I told the girl what I was after - NOT an easy ask!! - and she was great
Made me try things I wouldn't normally have looked at
With the result I bought Valentina poudre which is heavenly and just what I was after
I did try white linen but - I don't know. It seems much sharper (?) than I remember?
I tried the new guerlain - the lovely young man gave me a couple of spray testers if anyone wants one?
It's nice. Dh preferred it to Valentina tbh but still too floral for me
My new perfume has notes of iris and Tonka bean and I LOVE it
❤️😀

Badders123 · 04/03/2017 14:58

I did try flowerbomb and it's lovely - again it's just too floral for me
Also liked the new Prada one !

Pestilentialone · 04/03/2017 15:50

Badders sounds like you have your perfume mojo back Grin

Imscarlet · 04/03/2017 15:54

Gentlewoman is towels fresh out of the dryer on dry down. Very clean fresh smell. I have a Jo malone sample from the range she brought out when she went out on her own and it reminds me somewhat of that. Can't find it and can't remember the name.
