Have you tried Moondance LM? On the wearable end of knickery?

Welcome Zeezeek - if you hang out with us that habit will only get worse!

Whew, what a busy day for this thread.Smile Zeezeek I think we all have a bad habit of buying Ebay samples. On the subject of which, my 5ml of Couvent des Minimes Eau des Missions Cologne landed today and LesIncompetents you were bang on the money - it is luscious, all boozy and vanilla-y and amazingly sniff-able - definitely, definitely full bottle-worthy. Thank you for the recommendation.

Scarlet, my ghast is flabbered over your reaction to Mad Madame but I suppose one perfumista's Obsession is another perfumista's Poison.Wink Judy, you and I can be old lady smelling outcasts together.

VP and MrsC, thank you for the Cabochard tips. It sounds even more enticing. In fact, I might even have been investigating how to date it...

According to reviews on Fragrantica, Belle d'Opium is discontinued, which would explain why every bottle I've ever watched on Ebay has soared out of reach. Glad you're well enough to enjoy it again, OneNight

SoTD was Jo Malone Vanilla and Anise. Fresh, elegant and vanished in half an hour. Good thing Eau des Missions, which must be a fraction of the price, turned up to replace it.

You thought Moondance was knickery? Shock I remember it smelling like flowery air freshener. (Wanders off to rake through overflowing sample box and sniff again...)

user1471503992 · 02/03/2017 22:54

Found it! I think my tastes are evolving at the speed of light as every time I hate something on first sniff I'm completely confounded by it a few months later. Blush maybe sometime soon I'll start liking Cuir de Russie.

Imscarlet · 02/03/2017 23:02

Haha Green, speaking of which, I somehow have a bottle of Obsession Nights somewhere in the back of my collection. I know I didn't buy it so I can't imagine where it came from!

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 02/03/2017 23:49

green i can't believe some of the ebay prices for belle d'opium!! Shock i'm glad i have both a 30ml and a 50ml bottle as it looks i won't be getting any more of it! and thank you Smile

Loveandlipstick · 03/03/2017 07:38

I'm a huge fan of Angel it's a classic. Looks like they are giving away a free sample try, just sign up and it will be delivered. angel.hscampaigns.com

GreenPolish I'm so glad you like the Eau des Missions! They also do an orange blossom one that I have my eye on.

MrsC my Tabu looks like the one in the picture, have tried googling but can't find much info on this admittedly fugly bottle.

ZeeZeek welcome and hold on tight to your credit card Wink

Thanks loveandlipstick, I do love a freebie. Guerlain is also offering free samples of Mon Guerlain on their website, really looking forward to trying it.

SOTD is Shalimar Parfum Initial L'Eau, this was last years go to scent for me for spring and summer and I totally love it. Starts with a burst of citrus and papery iris and dries down to light, powdery iris and vanilla.

MrsCocoa · 03/03/2017 16:28

Thank you Les - it's quite difficult to gauge whether bottles are brand new or not unless they're specifically flagged as vintage.

User1471 - to explain my workings: Moon Dance smells quite like Theo Fennell's Scent but with the fur coat taken off (in TF's Scent the caraway/cumin provides pungent body/animalic smells). Think the indolic jasmine is responsible for the trace of skank in Moon Dance and also features in Scent?. The latter is a way more beautiful perfume, but slightly harder to wear.

Lady Vengence today and I can't tell you how much I love it. It's the first of the JHAG's that I sprayed and immediately liked. I would consider a full bottle.

whatsonyourplate · 03/03/2017 18:36

Hi, I'm new to this thread as I know nothing about perfume! I was wondering if anyone remembers a fragrance called 'Nights in white satin' (different from White Satin) by Yardley? I believe it was about in the early 90s but fairly short lived. Any idea how I would find a similar modern fragrance?

Imscarlet · 03/03/2017 18:56

This one? It's 90s

Judydreamsofhorses · 03/03/2017 18:59

SOTD was JHAG Mad Madame after all the chat about it. I really do love it. I'm now showered and in pjs - rock and roll Friday night here - and in MMM Untitled.

Badders123 · 03/03/2017 19:00

Sooooo...
My quest for a spring/summer fragrance continues...
I went to boots last week and liked jimmy choo but couldn't find any others
I need to go to a department store I think
I want a floral oriental ideally
Any Ideas oh knowledgable ones!? 😀

Imscarlet · 03/03/2017 19:02

I can't find anything listing the notes, just that it is an oriental floral.

Imscarlet · 03/03/2017 19:05

Any of you sniff the new Angelina Jolie / Guerlain one? I'm dying to see what it's like!

GetAHaircutCarl · 03/03/2017 19:10

I was just about to ask if anyone had tried Mon Guerlain.

I love a nice bit of Guerlain scent and make up.

whatsonyourplate · 03/03/2017 19:11

Yes that's the one Imscarlet. Just trying to recreate my youth...

GetAHaircutCarl · 03/03/2017 19:20

Badders what about Flowerbomb?

SilverHawk · 03/03/2017 19:25

MrsC Are you noticing a difference in the Cabochards?
I find that when one likes a perfume that has been reformulated there is a lot of 'homework' to do before buying a vintage bottle.
It's sometimes harder to buy a vintage perfume that still exist (in name only sometimes) than one that has been discontinued.
I was very generously topped up with my favourite Coromandel last week and was wondering if anybody could explain why the shop assistant asked if it was for him. Is it known as a unisex scent?

Badders123 · 03/03/2017 19:36

Is it very floral? she asks of a scent called flower bomb!

Imscarlet · 03/03/2017 19:43

I find it very sweet and a bit of a young fragrance (flowerbomb). La Vie eat Belle is quite similar but a little older. I find La Vie quite overpowering, and though I have a bottle, I wouldn't wear it during the day and it doesn't quite cut the mustard at night.

Imscarlet · 03/03/2017 19:44

I was considering getting a tester of coromandel and sycomore as my next experiment.
