Innermagic I'm afraid I got "not secure" warnings on that site.

Three Ebay is a great hunting ground for perfume bargains - unwanted gifts, part-used bottles, etc. Sooner or later most things seem to turn up. Only, of course, stick to sellers with decent feedback.

Vintage can be trickier because you don't know how well the bottles have been stored. I've had two that had deteriorated beyond recognition. With one, the seller was very helpful and refunded me. The other was not so helpful but I got a refund through Ebay.

Badders I reckon you deserve a treat after the Rive Gauche disappointment.

ThreeForAPound · 18/05/2017 22:05

Hit and miss Badders.

I'm not a Jo Malone fan, but thought I'd try out a few dupes on PP. The Pomegranate Noir dupe smells like Fairy fucking Liquid.

However, the (discontinued) D&G Feminine dupe made me SO happy. I wore it in my early 20s and although its not the sort of scent I'd choose now, and I don't even ear the dupe, its VERY true to the origin and I like to have a sniff back in to my 20s now and then Grin

Nighty night

ThreeForAPound · 18/05/2017 22:06

very true to the original

whos been drinking on a school night?

Judydreamsofhorses · 18/05/2017 22:25

I keep losing you all. SOTD was Diptyque Philosykos. Lovely, wet, green for a sunny day.

MrsCocoa · 18/05/2017 23:13

Green - trust you and your scarf are limbering up to set us up with thread #4?

Welcome ThreeFor...I haven't bought perfume in OVER A MONTH! Am aiming to rectify this weekend with either some magnificent ebay bargains or going whole hog for a FB of Eau du Sud.

Re ebay- as others have said, check the feedback, check where they are sending from...I probably wouldn't buy from Hong Kong etc. Ebay.de is very good- had some amazing bargains from there, and ebay.it is a bit hit and miss (Italians do not like the idea of ebay- they are all horrified that I have been on it for about 14 years) and tend to have no idea what they are selling if it's old perfume) Ebay.fr can be good too. I tend to avoid if at all possible sellers who only have 400 miniature bottles of perfume to sell, because I do a bit of a chinny reckon and presume they had empties and have topped them up.

VintagePerfumista · 19/05/2017 06:52

Am hankering over a bottle of the eau de cologne we were talking about upthread beloved of the Spanish male....(and of those once loving Spanish males.....) anyone know a brand? I've found this on ebay.....do we have any Spanish based perfumistas?

Badders123 · 19/05/2017 08:56

Well it's grey and wet here again today and I have a Dr appt and a busy day ahead so I think it will be my beloved sun.moon stars for the comforting factor
My Elizabeth Taylor should arrive today!

Judydreamsofhorses · 19/05/2017 09:08

Friday's SOTD is Miu Miu. Hurry up, weekend.

FloofyCat · 19/05/2017 09:12

Three interested to know how the Creed PP dupes stack up, I love Silver Mountain Water but can't afford it these days so if I can find a good dupe I will be in heaven!

SOTD is Britney Spears Curious Blush I hasten to add this was a purchase for DD (that sounds suspiciously like "I'm asking for a friend" doesn't it!) and I actually really like it, for £8 or whatever. I think along with J Lo, Britney makes the best cheap celeb scent stuff great for spraying with abandon unlike the £££ stuff I eke out...

Will be interesting to see if the Royal Mail perfume rules affect Ebay purchases, I know My Hermes won't carry (or at least you're not insured) perfumes. I don't think I've ever bought from anything other than the UK Ebay...this clearly needs rectifying!

Ohwhat Jade is £15 on Amazon, so a teeny but cheaper. I'm sure I remember it being about a fiver...is it me or has it gone up massively?! Still for £15 it's still a bargain and I think the longevity is actually better than Cristalle.

No SOTD yet as I am waiting for DH to bring me my perfume box in bed so I can select one. I kind of feel like I should be lying on a chaise longue for this!

FloofyCat · 19/05/2017 09:13

Please ignore typos and spelling Blush

VintagePerfumista · 19/05/2017 09:24

I think it might be our fault that Jade has gone up! Mine was £7.99 last summer. I am wearing it today and feel very crisp and expensive and a lot more expensive than £7.99

My Facebook memory today was this status I did in 2012 Grin
"I want to smell like a memory...The Anais Anais says no make up, lots of bangles, spiky hair and Al Stewart......the Rive Gauche says new clothes and dodgy Bonnie Tyler haircuts ......Obsession says cricket pitches and condemned houses....Poison says crushed velvet and black lace gloves and Transvision Vamp lipstick.....Chloe says curly haired boys in dungarees and whisky in mugs....Angel says eeny-meeny which country shall I go.....and Chanel 19 says someone else's perfume but very much my memory....decisions decisions......""

GreenPolishToGo · 19/05/2017 10:55

VP that is a memory box in itself - wonderfully evocative. Have you tried Guerlain Eau de Cologne Imperiale? It is beautifully refreshing and might well be a beloved of the Spanish male. Surprisingly long lasting for something meant to be an evanescent splash-on too.

OneNight was looking for D&G Feminine so I hope she spots Three's post about the PP dupe.

The Scarf and I are limbering away MrsC but anyone do feel free to start the next thread once we're closing in on 500 posts - seems like we just began this one!

DH popped into Les Senteurs for me when he was in the area the other day. It was very kind of him because a) he has no interest in that sort of thing at all, and b) he was a little worried someone might squirt him with something. But they were lovely and so helpful, and I now have a set of beautifully carded samples - four Frederic Malles, Futur and something called Papyrus de Ciane that is supposed to be very green. So I am dithering hopelessly about which to try first.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 19/05/2017 12:40

i did spot three's pp post thank you green so i shall be checking that out when ive got some spare money.

I haven't bought anything new in ages, i'm watching a few things on ebay but i'm not fully committed to buying just yet. we are moving to a new shared flat next week so funds are being spent on that at the minute and there's nothing spare for pretty fragrant things Sad

GreenPolishToGo · 19/05/2017 13:04

500 posts?! Bah, I can't count now. I meant 1,000! Blush

Good luck with the move OneNight.

Meripenopause · 19/05/2017 13:20

vintage 'cricket pitches and condemned houses' is a wonderful description.
Sotd Bel Respiro (edt - not impressed with the new edp)

MrsCocoa · 19/05/2017 13:41

Vintage - I love Eau de Sud too. Am running low (so also in market for another FB) but am finding MG Lemon a reasonably satisfying alternative.

I had a sample of Papyrus de Ciane from Les Senteurs too Green, but ages ago. Twas very green, and very nice.

Taking a quick break from spring cleaning to wave hello. SoTD is plaster and floor cleaner.

GreenPolishToGo · 19/05/2017 14:34

Very green sounds fab to me Sock so does 100mls of gorgeousness for a tenner, Badders.

Perfumistas, would you like to step this way before we run out of post space!

Badders123 · 19/05/2017 16:29

I'm pleased as not all fragrantica recommendations hit the spot for me!
Hoping to go to town next Friday with my mum and I may treat myself to rive gauche...

ThreeForAPound · 19/05/2017 18:45

Thanks for the Ebay heads up Vintage

I've received some of my PP dupes! The dupe for Creed Spring Flower is spot on. I think I'm in love (for late Spring/early Summer, anyway Wink). Its got a lovely real apple smell and some sort of light white floral. DThe drydown is mostly rosy to me but light. I'm quite appallingly shit at spotting notes, to be honest, but its definitely a winner...

Dupe of JM Verbenas of Provence is spot on, too. I found the perfume original spray too strong with this, but the PP dupe rollerball oil is perfect. Just put it on after my shower and am in heaven Grin.

SOTD was me trying for probably the 4th or 5th time to find positives with Narciso Rodriuguez Poudree, which was a gift from a friend. I'm finding it exceptionally hard to love. So strong and chemically and generic when it first goes on, a fleeting moment of powdery goodness, and then disappears completely on me.

My Yardley booty has been dispatched apparently...yes!
