Funny, we had some Decadence sprayed on a card sent home for Valentine's Day by DD's teacher (she did it for all of them!) and I quite liked it but found it too sweet on me when I tested it on my wrist a few days later.

Judydreamsofhorses · 01/03/2017 20:36

SOTD was NRFH. I also like Black Opium - but only on really chilly days.

MrsCocoa · 01/03/2017 20:46

Had a kick ass day in Cabochard. Hoping it works for me tomorrow too Grin.

Cabochard sounds intriguing, as does Bandit. I didn't think I found leather notes appealing but I've really liked 4160 Tuesdays' Goodbye Piccadilly so I might have to investigate further. I really ought to investigate my own JHAG samples too - they've been completely eclipsed by the ones I got from 4160 Tuesdays.Blush

SoTD was Sunshine and Pancakes. A day late but it smelt delicious.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 01/03/2017 23:57

ugggh another scentless day as i lost the day to a migraine Sad only just starting to feel human now really but won't put anything on now

GreenPolishToGo · 02/03/2017 00:07

Poor OneNight, DD gets migraines so I know how foul they are. I hope it's completely gone tomorrow.

BaronessBomburst · 02/03/2017 00:11

Oh here you all are!
Just going to bed but I'll be back tomorrow.
soft play hell so the wifi had better work

VintagePerfumista · 02/03/2017 06:09

I don't find Bandit or Cabochard very leathery tbh. They are both divine and a kind of earlier version (not in smell terms, but in "I'll wear what I damn well like and if you don't like it, then go and sit in a cupboard yourself") of Obsession/Poison/Angel. Take no prisoners. (especially Bandit- Cabochard is decisive, but softer slightly)

To me they are both smoky flowers than leather. And the flowers aren't wussy delicate Jo-Maloney-style flowers. They are "woooooah, what the hell is this you've come across Dr Livingstone"

IYSWIM!

After my shower yesterday I had some more of the Chanel 19 (old) Straight back to 1986. Which is never a bad thing at my age. Grin

VintagePerfumista · 02/03/2017 06:10

OneNight- hope today is better- I always opt for PP Infusions d'Iris after a migraine- clean and soapy and very gentle.

MrsCocoa · 02/03/2017 07:19

Green if you're going to try Cabochard, sniff out a pre-mid 1980s bottle. As Luca Turin observed, the moths have been at the later formulations.

Can anyone remember what Tabu smelt off?

VintagePerfumista · 02/03/2017 12:29

My Aunt wore Tabu in the 70s and early 80s. I vaguely remember something a bit like a leathery-chyprey hybrid. Or maybe I'm a bit Bandit obsessed!

Barbara Herman says it has a touch of S & M about it Shock and "created by the perfumer behind Miss Dior it has a whiff of lady's undergarments" So there is skank in there too!

I might need to get some!

Just reading her review of Cabochard- and she does indeed call it a more demure version of Bandit. (she says Bandit makes "bad smell good".

VintagePerfumista · 02/03/2017 12:33

On another note, the Coty Paris I have just won on ebay was launched in 1923 and according to Fragrantica is a cross between Joy and L'Heure Bleu so I will be very excited to try it when it comes!

LesIncompetents · 02/03/2017 14:52

So I went rummaging through my stash and found a Cabochard mini edt that I forgot I had! No idea how old it is though. The top notes are a bit off but after a while It's lovely, sparkly floral over a very soft leather.

I have a massive bottle of Tabu, possibly the best eBay bargain I've ever scored (99p!) it's not super old but I think maybe 1970s or 80s. The one I have is a deep, spicy oriental, it's like a hybrid of Youth Dew and Opium.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 02/03/2017 15:02

thanks for the migraine sympathies, they really are hideous. I don't suffer with them as much as i used to since i got my daith piercings but the odd one i do get really floor me

SOTD is Belle de Opium. reminds me so much of first meeting DP as it was what i usually wore around that time. Has this one been discontinued as i never see it anywhere now? i get lots of patchouli and amber with fleeting white florals and i think it's peach maybe

Imscarlet · 02/03/2017 16:12

JHAG Mad Madame today. There is something of an old fashioned smell off this. My mum had Blue Grass years ago and I think it might smell a little like it. It has bit of a middle aged woman smell about it (I'm verging into that territory myself). There is something of a cheap chemist musk perfume smell off it. Not mad about this one.

Imscarlet · 02/03/2017 21:09

I don't hate it after hours of wear. I have no idea what occasion would be appropriate to wear it, but I don't hate it.

Pestilentialone · 02/03/2017 21:20

SotD is Crabtree & Evelyn Hungary Water, old formula. I do like a splash of eau de cologne especially with a heavy rosemary punch.
Imscarlet "I don't hate it" is not the ideal perfume review.

MrsCocoa · 02/03/2017 21:48

Especially when the JhaG blurb claims it as, "A Fragrance That Never Leaves Indifferent". (You might need to try this in a French accent?).

Hello fellow scent lovers.

I've been appropriating more stuff ( I know you lot will forgive me).

Today's scent was Black Orchid. Love it.

Judydreamsofhorses · 02/03/2017 21:55

SOTD was Chanel 19 for a really shitey day at work. scarlet I really like Mad Madame! (I am going to get thrown off this thread at this rate.) I'm onto my second full bottle. I like smelling like an old lady though.

zeezeek · 02/03/2017 22:05

Hello. Hope I can join in - have been a long term lurker on these threads.
I'm a major Jo Malone fan but have just discovered Tom Ford's Black Orchid, Noir Extreme and Orchid Soleil (the latter reminds me of bubblegum for the first few minutes, but then is divine).

However, SOTD and possibly the month is Diptyque's 34.... I'm so excited because this is the first ever Diptyque perfume that suits me!

Have developed a bad habit of buying samples from eBay...

MrsCocoa · 02/03/2017 22:11

Green have pm'd you.

Came home to three miniatures including, Le Dix. Think this has been discontinued but this is was recent enough to have a bar code on the box?

Have been eyeing up Tabu, and want one like yours Les! The bottle design doesn't seem to have changed much so its not easy to tell what might be a few years old?

It's growing on me, but not a very 'me' scent. I'm not sophisticated enough for it. I think MIL could love it. The dry down is much nicer than the opening. I'll have to try it in circumstance other than cooking the dinner. What will I go for tommorrow? I was thinking Lady Vengence.

Judydreamsofhorses · 02/03/2017 22:32

The other one I bought was Miss Charming, but didn't replace it when it ran out. A lot of them are very patchouli heavy, from memory, which I like a lot, but realise is not to everyone's taste.
