Arf at "gateway drug"
😂
Yes you are all enablers and I love you

Badders123 · 30/04/2017 10:48

I've missed out on one of the lagerfelds on eBay 😞
Looking at a shalimar but tbh I could prob get it cheaper from Debenhams in their 10% sale!

Badders123 · 30/04/2017 10:52

Oh dear
I've bid on the shalimar as it's a 75ml

Dlpdep · 30/04/2017 13:11

The guerlains ARE gateway drugs. Decants and testers are soft drugs. Those vintage bottles you guys are always harping on about are the class A's!! Grin

MrsCocoa · 30/04/2017 13:11

Badders - ah! But the vintage formulations might be more interesting? (Always a bit of a gamble...).

MrsCocoa · 30/04/2017 13:15

Nah Dip - think it's the full bottles of Tauer/Chanel Exclusifs/[insert expensive house of your choice] that are the Class A! Grin

I've lost out on the lagerfeld
Still in the running for the shalimar

GreenPolishToGo · 30/04/2017 19:07

Happy Birthday Dream Cake Wine Flowers. Enjoy your day out and your new Mary Greenwell. I know what you mean about those lids - you could do someone a serious mischief with them.

Never mind Badders. If you keep on plugging away you will get your Lagerfeld eventually so don't give up. It hasn't gone into the realms of silly money yet so I'm quite sure you'll find one.

Addict - me! Well, perhaps a bit. But I can give it up any time I want...

Class A is stuff like L 'heure bleue, Apres l'ondee, Vol de nuit and Jicky in my book. Impeccably pedigreed, ££££, and dangerously alluring - especially when wicked tempters like MrsC start describing them. Really Guerlain ought to put you on their payroll!

Would I pay full price for the Ateliers? No, but I have to 'fess up that I never pay full price for any of them. Mine are from sales, special offers, online discounters and Ebay. I haven't paid full price for a FB since the days when I only had two or three bottles at a time and I actually used them up...

SOTD is Atelier Cologne Figuier Ardent. As Calm says, it's beautiful and fresh. I don't have the L' Artisan to compare but if it's even greener it must be lovely. I think I've definitely lost my heart to Trefle Pur though.

MrsCocoa · 30/04/2017 19:23

Rang the changes today with a squirt of Angel Muse (following someone picking it as one of the top fumes of 2016 (Basenotes or Fragrantica?)). (Smells like an Angel X Obession mash-up).

Oh gawd
I've bid again on the lagerfeld
It better be as lovely as I remember!!

MrsCocoa · 30/04/2017 19:45

RL friend was describing her visit to Guerlain's flagship Paris store . Anyone been?

Badders123 · 30/04/2017 20:01

Jesus
I'd have to get a second mortgage 😳🙄😂

Judydreamsofhorses · 30/04/2017 20:15

SOTD was Chanel 19. Choked with the cold and can't smell/taste a bloody thing, but comforting to know it was there.

GreenPolishToGo · 30/04/2017 20:25

Alas MrsC no, maybe one day. It looks absolutely amazing.

MrsCocoa · 30/04/2017 20:42

Thanks Green- breathtaking.

Rather more prosaically, more cheap thrills on eBay: a set of 14 little bottles of parfum strength vintage Avon (including.VP, Occur!, Timeless, Topaze and Moonwind (all unopened). Intrigued!

Badders123 · 01/05/2017 08:47

Oh I love looking at vintage Avon on eBay!
Their decanters were just...mad! 😀
I'm still highest bidder for the shalimar and lagerfeld!

Meripenopause1 · 01/05/2017 09:27

I like Timeless by Avon. They also used to do a nice one called Zany! I always keep my eye out, but haven't seen any on ebay.
Cannot believe the price of Sun, Moon and Stars!! It was cheap as chips until recently. I gave bottle to a raffle a couple of years ago. Damn.

Sodt is Grossmiths Phul-nana. I had a mini which I loved. Treated myself to a bottle and now not so keen (I do this quite a bit). The bottle has a bit of an 'all natural perfume' smell. I'm hoping it will ferment or something and get better...

Badders123 · 01/05/2017 09:36

I know meri!
I picked up a couple of bottles a few years ago at matalan for £10 each!

The price of Valentino poudre is eye watering
too - I got mine at Debenhams with 20% off!

justaweeone · 01/05/2017 09:44

I often buy samples from here
http://m.feelunique.com/pick-n-mix/?location%5Boid%5D%5B0%5D=1.2&page=1
5 samples for £3.95, can order once a month

Hysterectomyhysteria · 01/05/2017 10:03

Does anyone know if guerlain heritage has been reformulated? It is one of my favourites for myself and I see online that the bottle has changed since I last purchased. Thanks (I will get back to lurking now!) 😀

Badders123 · 01/05/2017 13:38

I don't know about reformulated but they do seem to be changing the bottles/flagons?

Ollivander84 · 01/05/2017 14:04

SOTD - 4160 Tuesday's Mrs gloss lemon sherbert

ADisappearingDreamOfYesterday · 01/05/2017 14:06

Goodness, the Paris Guerlain thing looks amazing! Did anyone else read the Coco Chanel biography (I can't remember her name but I think the author was a Guardian type journalist) that had pictures of her Paris apartment? It was fabulous.

Hysterectomy I don't know I'm afraid, but don't lurk, come on in! No one bites and we all smell gorgeous Smile

Actually I don't smell gorgeous today as my SOTD is a combination of vomit and Deep Heat (now there's a lovely olfactory image sorry!).

Justawee I'm too nervous to click on another sample site as I'm terrible for buying them Blush I remember being keen for my DCs to have memories of me linked to certain scents, but can't seem to confine myself anymore! I do try and have one "main"'perfume each season and use my eight million samples to liven things up...

I donthink scent is so evocative of times and people though, and it's lovely to have specific memories linked to certain perfumes.

GreenPolishToGo · 01/05/2017 14:50

justaweeone thank you. I was lost the moment I saw they had MMM samples! A bit round the houses to sign up and in their options for 'body goals' they seemed to have left out "to turn back time" but I got there in the end.

Hysterectomy I've never tried Heritage but this thread on Basenotes seems to think it has been reformulated. And yes, do de-lurk. Smile

4160's Lemon Sherbert is gorgeous. So is today's SOTD - Atelier Cologne Mandarine Glaciale, a spicy citrus that seems to be lasting very well.

Hope you're feeling better soon Dream. I was thinking only the other day that because I am such a scent hopper nothing will ever remind the DCs of me in the way Miss Dior and Youth Dew remind me of my mother. They call my favourite silk scarf "The Scarf of a Thousand Scents" and they're not far wrong.
