I made curry tonight too. A yummy veggie one for ds with all sorts of stuff in it and a boring chicken one for the rest of us!

I've had a 'testing' couple of days and did have a mini blow out/sobfest/rant last night, but all fixed today with a walk and pub lunch with old friends.... we used to be neighbours and today involved a fair amount of trespass, while we were snooping on our old houses!

Feel much revived Grin

BeachysSnowyWellieBoots · 12/02/2017 20:06

Was the Meet Up with Strange Woman near iconic lifting bridge? I might have been there. I first met Rudy that night and I shared a hotel with a stranger, who was indeed quite strange!

Blackduck · 12/02/2017 20:57

Curry here too...

Beachy I just never think of you as ranting/having a moment!!

Cremolafoam · 12/02/2017 21:11

*Dominic West alert 🚨 as a Roman centurion on telly. Blush

Stropperella · 12/02/2017 21:27

Yo crepeys! I am on half term. But have a grotesque amount of work to do. And have had a very taxing first half of the term.
Dd is all over the shop. I am doing my stuff, trying to prop her up without losing my temper (extremely difficult) and keep the peace with the rest of the household (challenging). No clue how it will all pan out. She develops a new problem every 2 mins, it seems. And is resistant to all solutions/suggestions. And is nothing if not unpredictable. Rolling with the punches is doing my head in. Otoh, I am just partaking of the Hotel Chocolat chocs she gave me for my B-day. Mmm.

Master's level study is interesting, but there are too many driving miles involved. Luckily, there are only 3 more trips to Bath involved for this module. Then it's all about assessment and teaching after that. And effing assignments.

Auriga, I am very sorry to hear that you too have had to say goodbye to your feline companion. :(
Hope the epidural has worked and you have some decent pain relief. I am still snarfing daily prescription drugs for my sciatica (have follow-up at MSK clinic on Wed), but swapping to an automatic car has made a hugely positive difference.

I am not able to make it to any crepey MUs in the near future and am feeling somewhat deprived.

Happy birthday to all those celebrating somewhen around now. Grin

addle · 12/02/2017 21:29

two lovely, lovely cats, Herbs and Auriga

BTM/Mrs S - I remember odd woman - I think she came to a mini meet up at the Waterloo place.

MI - I too was at culture today - Anselm Kiefer at White Cube. absolutely fantastic. And ds and gf went yesterday which is v pleasing (prob because free - ds likes a free outing)

Made and eaten far too much fish pie. Would like to go to bed but can't seem to leave the sofa

CointreauVersial · 12/02/2017 21:37

Curry here too (wooo...crepey psychic connection on the dinner front), which was well received by the troops. Followed by the world's smallest apple pie (which wasn't).

DH and I meant to go to the cinema this afternoon, to see Lion, but somehow forgot.

Hey Stropps, you sound remarkably chipper in the cirx Smile.

I haven't kept up the last few days...but did someone mention Dominic West? Grin. Crem, how are you feeling?

I seem to have done shedloads of dull jobs and got nowhere.....

bigTillyMint · 12/02/2017 21:59

No curry here - had roast pork in the pub and then ran into my old uni frIends who happened to be in there after a rellys birth day do Grin

Yes she was at that MU Addle.

Beachy, nowt wrong with having a meltdown, but glad you're feeling better now.

Stropps you are Amazing!

Blackduck · 12/02/2017 22:19

GGG and if you are slightly odd I have no idea what that makes me.....

Crepeys D'n'S in the usual place 5.00 on for a couple of hours next Saturday?

MrsSchadenfreude · 12/02/2017 22:23

I would love to do cocktails next Saturday but am having early dinner with my second cousins on my father's side, whom I don't see very often.

Collymollypuff · 12/02/2017 23:00

BD, I can't do next weekend but am doing cocktails the following Friday, which I think you can't make? Or could you?

Oh, so there's a whole MU story which precedes my accession to the Crepey Squad, harrumph. Glad I passed the strangeness test must've been borderline

CointreauVersial · 12/02/2017 23:12

Aren't we having cocktails AND dinner on the 24th? There was talk of Cote.....

OP posts:
Collymollypuff · 12/02/2017 23:14

Yes, yes, sorry to be confusing, CV - I'm just dropping in for cocktails cos we're then away for the weekend. Many of you lovely lot are doing Cote. Smile

Stropperella · 12/02/2017 23:15

Arr, Lalsy, I am not as chipper as I sound. I am merely in "I will prevail" mode, as there is no other option. I don't have a partner who shares responsibility for dd or who can be the main earner in the long-term, so I am feeling more hard done by than might be obvious. But moaning won't change anything, so I'm mainly keeping quiet unless I feel strong enough to say something chirpy. Smile

Collymollypuff · 12/02/2017 23:21

Thanks Don't feel you have to sound chirpy, Stropps. Sad

Stropperella · 12/02/2017 23:31

I have to keep being chirpy, otherwise I will stop believing I can do it all, Molly.
Fingers crossed for you that you get the all-clear soon.
Dd wants me to go to Bristol with her again to clear out the last bits from her room. She was supposed to go by herself yesterday, but had repeated panic attacks and couldn't get herself there. I don't have the time or inclination for another trip to Bristol, but I'll have to do it anyway. I need some 36-hour days and the ability to get by on 2 hours' sleep.

Lalsy · 12/02/2017 23:38

You are truly the prevailing woman, Stropps. Vent if it will help, ever. Really really hope dd settles down a bit soon.

Molly, did you decide to ring?

Collymollypuff · 12/02/2017 23:41

Yeah, it's on my to-do list. Thanks for prompting me, Crepeys.

Auriga · 12/02/2017 23:56

Yay Stropps, you will prevail, though we know it will be tough & we will have your back.

Thanks for commiserating about DCat. I am incubating an article about how disproportionate & unpredictable grief can be. Haven't seen DH cry like that since we lost our first baby. He didn't shed one tear when his mother died and, though he cried over my mother, he was never close to losing control.

Similarly, I struggled dry-eyed through my DSis2's mental illness 3y ago but when we first thought DCat was dying I almost drowned my therapist Blush Tbf he did not think this was at all odd.

I missed the 'odd' crêpey. Never met one I didn't like 😁

Collymollypuff · 13/02/2017 00:47

Both of your cats were beautiful, Auriga and Herbs. Sorry for your losses.

Rosebag · 13/02/2017 08:17

Something weird is going on...this thread has completely disappeared every time I tried to log in , last night and this morning. I only found it by typing "Crepe" into the search box....what's going on?...have I deleted it my mistake somehow?

I am sorry for Crepeys grieving for their beloved cats Flowers

Stropps what can we say other than KOBO. Flowers Wine

Survived yesterday's birthday lunch for DFIL, arranged and paid for in full by us at county house hotel. He seemed happy enough, which is good. I seem to have both DD and DS2 home...half term and reading week respectively. Am supposed to be seeing lucrative private client shortly but they haven't confirmed and its a long drive... Hmm

CointreauVersial · 13/02/2017 08:30

They're a stable force, aren't they, cats (and dogs, for that matter)? Always there, always supportive, and you probably unload more emotion on your pets than you realise. Then suddenly they are gone - it's not surprising you feel bereft.

I cried buckets when my neighbour's ancient cat died, a few years back, but for me it was transference of grief, as it topped off an awful few months when I'd lost my uncle and aunt in quick succession. It took me by surprise, and it wasn't even my bloody cat!

hattymattie · 13/02/2017 09:39

Maybe it's more permissable to cry for animals, whereas with people we feel obliged to keep a stiff upper lip, and also have lots of arrangements to take care of (amateur psychology).

Auriga's puss and Herb cat do indeed seem to be twins. Lovely cats.

Stropps - may the force be with you xxx

I have still a week more holiday - I have woken at 10 am for the last two days (still on British time - at least that's my excuse). I need to get my act together and do stuff.

NUFC69 · 13/02/2017 09:44

So sorry about your DCat, Auriga. I have shed more tears for you, Herbs and me. I find it interesting that most of us have (or had) black and white cats.

What is this kulcha of which you all speak?

Stropps, you deserve a medal; hang on in there.

Just booked a week away near Alrewas in the Midlands in a month's time; not very exciting, but we have been before and know we will enjoy it. We are debating going to San Diego again in September, and then our usual week in Arizona.

Two birthdays this week; DGS's on Wednesday, and DH's on Saturday. DGD and I are going to make a chocolate cake tomorrow and then all the DGC are coming round after the older two finish school on Wednesday.
