MI you won't know til you try it on. I love the colour... I suspect it's the length that will be the problem.

Tilly perhaps you have to give it more time? Surely the nature of the beast is that it will fluctuate. Don't lose heart. KOBO as Crem would say Flowers

Speaking of which,. Crem are you feeling any better?

NU Could it have been the tablets that have been affecting your appetite? I hope this is the beginning of a quicker recovery phase. Flowers

Welcome SpongeBob

Thanks again for the really lovely messages, Crepeys and can I say Monty is a really naughty girl....but I love her Grin

hattymattie · 23/01/2017 17:14

Checking in to new thread. I guess I imagined a one in front of the 4 for ATY. So only 4 episodes and only shagging - was looking forward to House of Cards type thing.

Love the cushion covers and the watch Rose - nice pressies.

MI - love the colour but unsure if it will lose its shape in the wash.

bigTillyMint · 23/01/2017 17:44

I know it's going to take time. A very long time. And it looks like things could get even worse before they get better. Just waiting for a meeting now.

MI the colour is good, not so sure about the shape!

hattymattie · 23/01/2017 18:11

BTM - I'm so sorry - DS has a friend in similar circumstances and it has taken about six months to move towards a positive outcome. I hope your meeting is productive.

Lalsy · 23/01/2017 18:17

BTM, am so sorry, I know it can be a very long haul.

MontserratCaballe · 23/01/2017 18:30

Sorry things are so tough, BTM. Thinking of you all Flowers

MI, love the colour but the dress is a bit shapeless and I think would swamp you as you are so petite.

motherinferior · 23/01/2017 18:36

I have ditched the dress, especially as our joint bank statement has arrived, and an emergency transfer from my business account was required!

herbaceous · 23/01/2017 18:55

Never buy anything convex. That's my view on the dress.

Good to hear you had a lovely birthday rose, and that DH rose to the occasion. Talking of which (snigger), quite enjoyed ATY and its many knee-tremblers, though fell asleep at the end. And then watched Trainspotting, which was something of a contrast.

Cremolafoam · 23/01/2017 19:23

I like the dress MI, but fear it wouldn't flatter.

Rose, excellent birthday haul, and good day out by the sound of it.SmileWine

I am ok, but not great. Still with sore throat and overwhelming tiredness.its unlike me to miss Pilates , but I did tonight. Been at a hospital appointment today, which took all morning. By about three I was ready for bed. Still another 4 days of antibiotics, so am blaming them for feeling cut off at the knees.

BTM, sorry it's a tough time at the moment.Flowers

GiddyGiddyGoat · 23/01/2017 19:33

Hi Lovelies,
Was away at the weekend and had a lovely time hanging out with a good friend's book group by the sea and going to an amazing concert of Schubert's Winterreise. Then back home for post Christmas family luncher 15 in a pub, followed by a friend's 50th ping pong and karaoke party - more fun than you'd imagine! I did;t drink red wine to excess - but I did drink red wine steadily for much of the weekend. Today I am knackered and hoarse from my stirling karaoke efforts.... Need another weekend.

Herbs, hope you and dp are doing ok post funeral?
Crem, I can't believe you're still poorly, poor you.
Glad you've had a good birthday for once Rose, well done!
BTM, KOBO? What else can you do...
Beauty, well done that ds! Hope it helps him with all he's grappling with to have done so well in all the circs.

Off to cook supper. Yawn.

Stropperella · 23/01/2017 19:53

Happy birthday, Rose.

Get well soon, Crem, and have a lovely holiday.

Am very short on time and energy, and dd has, as usual, been throwing googlies aplenty. She will probably move back home soon, but may go back to university next year to try again. 3 hour meeting at her university last Thurs morning. I cba to say anything more about it at the moment, sorry. She actually sounds quite sensible and has a plan, but who knows?

Most of my university sessions are from 5pm to 8pm on Wed evenings. As I get up at 5.30am for work, and have a 1hr 40m drive home after the university session finishes, Wed is a rather long day. Then I am also spending 1 day a week in a primary school in my dm's village (also nearly 30 miles from home - but is near my work school if I need extra resources). And there is lots and lots of study work. I knew this term would be a shocker, so I'm just ploughing on. Shame about the extra probs with dd, though. Last Fri night, ds had 3 friends round for a no-sleep birthday sleepover. Could have done without that as well, but I'm sure I'll stop feeling as though I have a monster hangover from stress and lack of sleep eventually. I am just pacing myself to get through the days.

Re: age gaps - Dh is 18 years older than I am and comes from a completely different background. His first wife was 10 years older than him, and his step-children from that marriage are around my age (and, in one case, older than I am). However, ds is his only natural child. First wife wanted him to have a vasectomy, as she didn't want to have any more dcs. They eventually solved this problem by spending 15 years sleeping in separate bedrooms. The step-children told me they were a horribly mis-matched couple who should have never got married.

Stropperella · 23/01/2017 19:55

Beachy, well done to ds and you!

Herbs, I'm glad to hear that your dmil had a good send-off. So sorry for your poor dp.

Stropperella · 23/01/2017 19:59

BTM am sending hugs. So sorry it's not working at the moment. Hope the experts can come up with a new way forward this week.

Lalsy · 23/01/2017 20:22

In awe, Stropps. You are turbo powered. Sorry to hear about dd, but glad it sounds like she is coping a bit better with Stuff overall - good for the long run but pants for you now.

MrsSchadenfreude · 23/01/2017 20:42

BTM - hugs from me too, and here's hoping for turning a corner in the not too distant future.

Spongebob - welcome and jump right in! Tell us a bit about yourself if you like, or just start gabbing.

Stropps - good to see you back here, but sorry to hear about DD.

I am watching a programme about sauerkraut and feeling homesick for Poland. Must book flights and a hotel for a long weekend...

DD1 has had an offer from Leeds post interview, and is now only waiting for an interview date from Bristol, but she thinks she will put Warwick as first choice and Lancaster as second.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 23/01/2017 21:01

Way to go MsS! You must be pleased for her and received she seems to have a good plan for nest year...

Cremolafoam · 23/01/2017 23:17

Ah Stropps, so sorry things have hit the fan with dd and the uni- experiment. I am another one in total awe of your energy and fortitude.

Am watching the news in utter gob smack mode. Wtaf?

GiddyGiddyGoat · 23/01/2017 23:22

What news Crem?

Hi Stropps, hope you're OK...

IDismyname · 24/01/2017 00:07

Crem what in particular on the news has caught your eye? I watch most of it looking like this Shock

I only discovered today that Babette Cole has died in the last week or so. She was an awesome woman. And that's without discussing her amazing ability to write and beautifully illustrate books.

Spent Christmas with her on a boat in the Carribean many moons ago ( BC - before children). Rowed ashore to some small island where she had a friend who had some moonshine. Got horribly drunk and keeled over in bed (clad only in a swimsuit and a pair of flashing Christmas earrings). Woke up the next day to discover the stuff had melted through the acrylic drinking glasses.

Lord only knows what it did to our insides.

Welcome Sponge!

In other news I have a counselling session tomorrow post DFs departure from our lives. Am going to struggle to find stuff to say. I so, so needed it last autumn when we were wringing our hands over his hospital treatment etc et. Now I feel I've come to terms with it. At least I THINK I have...

Stropperella · 24/01/2017 06:37

Urgh, message when I turned my phone on this morning that seems to indicate dd has been admitted to hospital.

Hoping that someone would have phoned the landline if it were v serious. Physical issue, not MH.

I have 10 lessons to teach today and am uncontactable unless someone phones the school office. Buggeroo.

BeachysSnowyWellieBoots · 24/01/2017 06:45

Oh Stropps, hope she's ok. Can Dh go or is that just a silly suggestion?

motherinferior · 24/01/2017 06:55

Fuckeroony, Strops.
