Has the 'scarf' had its day...

I may be the last to realise but the scarf really seems to be now rather passé. I have many that I would previously throw on with a blazer, t-shirt or jumper and feel fab. Having just been trawling through pin interest, every image that showed a 30 or 40 something wearing a scarf, just looked really dated.
It was such a great, easy accessory. Now what! Interesting jewellery, bags, the skinny scarf?

But I've only just learnt to tie them properly Sad.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 10/01/2017 22:00

Don't care, shan't give mine up Grin

holidaysaregreat · 10/01/2017 22:00

What to wear instead? I have loads of scarves. Clearly not cool :(

DrScholl · 10/01/2017 22:01

they have curls

A lot

MsUnderstanding · 10/01/2017 22:01

Are we talking about those flimsy scarves people wear for "pop of colour" ?

DrScholl · 10/01/2017 22:02

young people used to spend HOURS dicking about with them in about 2007

not so much now

Has anyone ever watched Fleur the youtuber? She has endless stylish clothes and films look books with all these expensive things but LOVES scarves and wears them with everything and she looks so middle-aged. I don't mean to be bitchy, she is otherwise gorgeous and stylish but her choice of scarves is terrible.

Londonmamabychance · 10/01/2017 22:03

Totally not true! Look at any fashion shoot or high ateeet shop or 20 something and you'll see it's not true. Maybe just update a bit to more 'blanket like' styles, I.e. Bigger and with interesting patterns and colours. but have to agree maybe the scarf as purely accessory in summer is not so hot right now. But for winter, still in!

GooodMythicalMorning · 10/01/2017 22:03

Oh poop. I love mine. Mind you I'm not really fashionable anyway, I dress for comfort.

PovertyJetset · 10/01/2017 22:05

Who is fleur?

Thrilled · 10/01/2017 22:05

Curls you obviously have never met me then. I look bloody gorgeous in my scarf, jumper combo. Kate Moss looked alright in hers too.

Fleur dresses like a wealthy 50 year old.

Fuzzypeggy · 10/01/2017 22:06

Yes blanket scarves are in, with coats or even instead of but I don't think this is what we are talking about here. This is about the scarf as part of an indoor outfit

PovertyJetset · 10/01/2017 22:07

who is fleur please and thanks you

SlipperyJack · 10/01/2017 22:07

On the topic of scarves: I've never quite understood the thing for wearing thick woollen plaid or tartan scarves. I used to work with someone who looked like she had a picnic blanket round her neck the whole time. Is it trendy or something?

NotTodaySatan · 10/01/2017 22:09

Poverty FleurdeForce on YouTube. She's a lifestyle/beauty blogger/vlogger

Floisme · 10/01/2017 22:10

Good. I gave them up cos they make my jowls mahoosive. Unfortunately none of my family have noticed so I still get at least one every Christmas.

JudithTaverner · 10/01/2017 22:10

ha ha I haven't worn a scarf since 2015 and I'm a firm fashion sheep.

I do have a big cashmere warm one for cold days, but nothing more decorative anymore.

Sorry, they're passe (possibly since 2014, as I'm a late adopter).

Thrilled · 10/01/2017 22:11

It will be white trainers next. Faints from the prospect of having to wear shoes for the school run.

Ooh Slippery I love those scarves! I think they were in last winter? Or was it the one before?

ExitPursuedBySpartacus · 10/01/2017 22:11

Cross Body bags!!!!!!

Pmsl.

BratFarrarsPony · 10/01/2017 22:12

...but I NEED a scarf to hide my chicken neck!

Doilooklikeatourist · 10/01/2017 22:12

I often wear a scarf
I hate necklaces , and use a scarf instead I am 56 though

Polkadot1974 · 10/01/2017 22:13

My skinny jeans and stripes and boots is crap but what to wear instead? Must follow S and B more in 2017 and not look so old

Thrilled · 10/01/2017 22:13

slippery very handy for an impromptu picnics. If arranged properly round ones neck, food and drink can also be carried for several hours hidden in a fold.
