Bloomed · 13/01/2017 00:21

I'll stick around, feel positively statuesque Wink but am probably shrinking ... I'm another one who's always had the tendency to wear the same things (saving things 'for best')

kittyhello · 13/01/2017 06:29

Bloomed you're taller than me, I'm 159cm, stick around you're in good company Grin

BerniceBobsHerHair · 13/01/2017 09:28

Just a really quick one from me -

Blingy glad you are on the mend and back to wearing the bling!

One good luck with final moving

Lib did ou ever buy the jumper you were hoping would go into the sales??

Stokey did you get the hush jumpsuit? I have mine but undecided...

BerniceBobsHerHair · 13/01/2017 09:28

Oh and welcome to Bloomed

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 13/01/2017 09:59

thanks bernice final push today ready for leaving tomorrow/early sunday. im utterly exhausted as i was up all night last night so i ended up pottering around doign bits of sorting and cleaning as i went. made the ngiht pass faster though in fairness

zero fashion news of any sort from me right now unless you count dusty paint splatted joggers and dps tee Grin

queencerulean · 13/01/2017 10:50

Good luck one
shop ive just rifled through your wardrobe too. You've got some lovely jumpers (especially love the jewelled j crew). Why don't you try a sort of 30 item challenge type thing? Put your favourites away for a bit and force yourself to wear the other stuff. You'll either fall in love again or decide you hate them in which case you can sell them.

shopafrolic · 13/01/2017 13:35

Kind of what I am doing today QueenC - am wearing Lib's COS grey sweater dress but over skinny jeans. Pulled my beautiful Sportmax coat that I usually keep for best out of the wardrobe and wore it on the school run with the wool neck piece up higher more like a scarf. Black Dubarry boots to cope with the snow and ice.
I wore the jewelled J Crew sweat over Christmas a lot - really handy top that I always feel good in.
I've made two blogger inspired purchases this week. This ASOS sequinned sweat inspired by Caroline Hirons. And this greeny grey NARS eyeshadow that Trinny W recommended.
I need to try the sweatshirt on but it's too cold at the moment to take any layers off!

Longislandicetee · 13/01/2017 13:58

Good luck One I think you need a nice long rest after this!

Shop, QueenC has articulated much better exactly what I was trying to say. I think you have some lovely things but you probably stick to your favourites. I can get into a habit of doing that too despite my vast wardrobe. As your wardrobe is smaller you're bound to get bored if you don't rotate enough. My advice is to do the 30 day challenge first before you add anything else to your wardrobe. I also think you have a very good capsule wardrobe and that the only things I would add would be plaid shirt, gilet and maybe a utility/military type dress. One of the best pieces of advice I ever read was about how French women don't have a "work" wardrobe and a non work and that's why I try not to compartmentalise as I think it opens up more possibilities. I think this is just as true of someone who is a sahm.

Why don't you do ootd on here and instagram for the 30 days?

Dry you looked all kinds of smokin' hot at the MU. Don't think of it as try hard, just another side to you....foxy and hot.Wink

Stokey · 13/01/2017 14:08

Great advice from Blingy & QueenC there. FWIW the first time I met you Shop, you were wearing a Ganni dress I think and looked fab. Love that sweatshirt too.

I'd say Easter is a bit hit and miss in Europe, it can be warm but you can never tell - I had a miserable holiday in Marbella when it was baking in the UK. Then again it is later this year.
It's a great time of year to go to Asia though - Thailand or India - or maybe southern Africa? but ould be a bit too far afield.
Think we're going for European city break and forgetting about sun.

Hello Bloomed, I'm short too. Think you have to be careful not to be swamped. I love the midi dress/skirt look but need to style it carefully, same with cropped flares.

I have kept the jumpsuit Bernice although not wowed by it. I guess I liked the summer one so much, I think this will come into its own, maybe in spring?

Good luck with moving One, it's always so stressful.

queencerulean · 13/01/2017 14:53

shop stop linking nice things!!! I had to sit on my hands when I looked at Anna too. Not buying for a month is good though as it's really focused me. Despite only being 2 weeks into it, I have seen so much I like and would possibly have ordered but actually I don't need any of it.
blingy I'm guilty of compartmentalising and I'm trying not to do it so much between work and home but I do still like to have some best/going out bits as they feel more special if that makes sense.

Anyway, I'm taking my own advice today and wearing a navy dress with black tights and biker boots. Am really warm as the tights come over my tummy and I have my thermal vest tucked in! Not entirely convinced by it though but just at home today so will wear it and see.

In other news, i',ve booked a train to London for saturday 25 march. Put the date in your diaries for a meet up

Everyonelovessparkles · 13/01/2017 19:26

Welcome bloomed. Everyone here is really nice m. We're all different shapes, sizes, with different budgets and tastes but everyone has good advice and suggestions, so it's a good place to be!

Glad you're trying a few new things shop and queenc, I think it is easy to get stuck in a rut and just choose outfits without thinking (I know I'm guilty of this) do always good to shake things up a bit!

Glad you're doing ok blingy.

Am out tonight for a low key dinner with a friend. Was undecided on what to wear then went with my navy star jumper from monsoon (I love this jumper!) and my tan suede skirt from the MU, gold Swarovski bangle and tan ankle boots. I'm relatively happy with it.

Has queenc decided the date of the next MU with her train booking?!

queencerulean · 13/01/2017 19:32

everyone I wanted to come down to London to do some shopping and the fare was v cheap! Just hoping people can meet me otherwise I'll be amusing myself until 8pm Grin

libertydoddle · 13/01/2017 19:43

It's as good a way of selecting a MU date as any IMO Grin. I'll be there but as with the last one I'll be late as I have a tutorial that day.

shopafrolic · 13/01/2017 20:10

I'll be there

MarshaBrady · 13/01/2017 20:36

Count me in

HappyGirlNow · 13/01/2017 20:55

Evening all! Hope you're all well? Sorry been a bit AWOL, business so busy right now..

Nice links shop

I am looking for some opinions please.. just reading the 'scarf is dead' thread, what do you guys think? Obviously the 'looped through itself scarf' is dated but what do you think about big shawl wrapped type efforts? I have Dubai in a few weeks, hear the air conditioning is fierce and was going to take my LV shawl... I just find cardis really ageing/dated... what do you guys do on hols for a cover up for evening?

littleredlipstick · 13/01/2017 21:13

Happy I was reading that thread as well and was looking to get a silk scarf or 2 (a nice Gucci one I had seen) I was a bit wary of buying one and not being able to tie it properly and now I don't know whether to get one or not Sad

libertydoddle · 13/01/2017 21:43

Meh I'm still wearing scarves! Not as much as I used to in fairness but not worried about looking dated.

Happy I think big scarves work well in places like Dubai. Wear with pride I say!

Littlered I think silk scarves are trickier. I have a gorgeous one I wear in Spring/Autumn but they are quite classic so needs to suit your style. And they are hard to tie! Need to think through cpw as IMO they are not as versatile as other types.

queencerulean · 13/01/2017 21:59

happy I'd go with shawl. I tend to wear cardigans but that's because I love them. I think the scarf being dated is more about the jaunty patterned ones wore to brighten up an outfit. A scarf to keep you warm is fine imho.

Drywhitethanks · 13/01/2017 22:32

"scarf is dead"? Bollocks!

Scarves are:
Classic
Can make an outfit
Essential when it's sub zero outside we had snow in the end
Admittedly annoying when emptying dishwasher or guillotine at work!

Am off to check fares for March date.

Drywhitethanks · 13/01/2017 22:36

Blingy look I found these....have loved our black patent version so much, these will be fab in SS.

kittyhello · 13/01/2017 22:37

I'm in for the MU, glad you got the ball rolling Queen

I still like a scarf, they're useful on planes when it's freezing, useful in this weather etc. I'm not giving up on the scarf just yet.

Drywhitethanks · 13/01/2017 23:06

Ticket booked!

HappyGirlNow · 14/01/2017 07:33

Yay my LV will be coming with me thanks all Grin

Agree, it's more a certain type of scarf and a certain way of wearing it that's dated..

queen cardis can look nice but ones I was thinking I had wouldn't look good with evening wear.. but I've just remembered I have some sheer dressier ones if I can find them I'll look them out and try with my outfits too..
