Welcome bloomed!

And happy birthday to one and sleep!

FedupNagging · 12/01/2017 16:55

Happy birthday Sleep and One Cake

How are you feeling today Blingy?

Hello there Bloomed; what style clothes do you like to wear?

I've been loving the links for Shop. As you know, I love a wide legged trouser and today am channelling this look with brogues rather than stans.

Dry such a pretty jumper.

I loved the clothes I wore in my teens and was pretty confident in my choices - knickerbockers and pixi boots anyone Grin and lots of hats. I also remember doing the tights and shorts thing too circ 1982 - dm was NOT impressed. In the intervening period there have been some good styles and some terrible styles - the baby years were not kind!

I'm pretty happy with my style now although get fed up sometimes with always doing a version of casual/smart casual but it works for my lifestyle I guess.

I have everything crossed the weather isn't going to be as bad as predicted - am meant to be flying to Italy tomorrow morning. I've packed mostly thermals and knits so definitely won't be wafting around looking stylish!

shopafrolic · 12/01/2017 16:59

It's just started snowing heavily here Fedup are you flying from Luton? If you get delayed come for a cuppa :)

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 12/01/2017 17:09

Snowing here too Hmm wouldn't mind if it was Friday, but the roads could be bad in the morning.

Happy birthday One and Sleep, Cake Flowers and Wine for you both!

Welcome Bloomed, you've come to the right place for a reboot :) get stuck in!

I'm with Amber, right now is the happiest I've ever been with my style and wardrobe, in fact I'd say I'm very content. (As I should be, having just bought my dream item! DH said I had been going on about it for years Blush)

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 12/01/2017 17:42

i'm not sure when my esta nd most 'me' fashion period was. i'm always switching out between things but i know i made a damn fine goth Grin

Bloomed · 12/01/2017 18:22

Years ago (when I felt most myself) I used to like wearing very fitted clothes and may try that again. I'm only 160cm tall and long things can swamp me. I like looking at others wearing Isabel Marant and like the 70s Gucci thing happening at the moment, so perhaps I'll go the boho route for casual wear. At the moment I'm quasi living in a uniqlo sweater and black jeans.

shopafrolic · 12/01/2017 18:24

Don't panic Bloomed there are loads of shorter peeps on here right Blingy? Grin

Karcheer · 12/01/2017 18:34

Urgh I'm so annoyed with selfridges.as you may remember I ordered a black Joseph blazer from their sale, I paid with my gift card number from returning the coat dh got me for Christmas. They've emailed to say the blazers out of stock and they've refunded me an evoucher which I can only use online!!!! Urgh!!!!!

kittyhello · 12/01/2017 18:51

Blingy hope you're starting to feel on the road to recovery. Loved the fact you put your bling straight on Grin

Hello and welcome Bloomed

I finally feel as if I've regained my style thanks to MNV, I liked my preppy look in my late teens when I wore tan loafers, Burlington socks from the sock shop, cropped jeans and Bennetton jumper, thought I was the bees kneez Grin in my early 20s I think I tried to dress to old for my age, trench coat, classic type clothing, LV/Gucci bags. I experimented with more colour in my 30s, completely lost my way during the baby years, now finally feel I've got my mojo back. Phew!

Happy birthday One & Sleep hope you're both celebrating in style.

Shop I've decided to change things a little with my SAHM uniform, I'm going for more slouchy trousers and trying to wear jeans less. Have hardly worn my Pistols this winter Shock

Fedup hope you manage to catch your flight, fingers crossed.

Snowing here so dc in the garden Hmm

MarshaBrady · 12/01/2017 19:15

Happy birthday One and Sleep! Cake [fizz]
Hope you've had lovely days!

Love that so many feel good now, as I really do think with links and at MUs people are really summing up their style brilliantly Lib I do include you in that!

MarshaBrady · 12/01/2017 19:16

Welcome Bloomed!

Now I'm trying to decide whether to shop in final reductions, or get something new and refreshing for Spring. Probably the latter. What is everyone else doing? Waiting for Spring?

MarshaBrady · 12/01/2017 19:16

Fashion that is, actual Spring might take a while!

littleredlipstick · 12/01/2017 19:52

Happy birthday one and sleep
Welcome bloom, glad to see the bling when back on blingy!
I have been without a phone for the last couple of days as my new iPhone decided to overheat go kaput on me wouldn't switch on at all. Add in issues with my Apple ID and it never backed up my contacts and photos Sad

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 12/01/2017 20:11

bloom i'm only 4' 11'' so officially tiny by any standards. shame i can't say the same about my width though Grin

Karcheer · 12/01/2017 20:21

bloom I'm petite too, I get a lot altered.

I'm thinking, maybe if I buy anything from selfridges and then return it to the store they'll have to give me a normal gift card. You can't even split the evoucher, it's really inflexible.

I think I was happiest in my early to mid twenties and then my early to mid 30s. I really struggled when I gave up,work, which caused the whole hoc, giving up black etc.
I was definitely happiest in a suit and then smart jeans/blazer of my twenties, and the suit and club wear of my thirties.
Uni days were dms and floral dresses, jean jacket

I really would like a black blazer from the sales but I think that horse has bolted, so I'll look out for one in spring. No real spring plan just to spend more on myself, could do with some new undies :/

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 12/01/2017 20:45

marsha i'm not planning on buying anything but a new dressing gown because even though i gave away or donated at least equal to if not more than i have left clothes wise, i still have a really ridiculous amount of clothes. Dp was honestly shocked when it just kept coming out of the drawers and said they must be like some sort of tardis because he had no idea they could hold so much. i really need nothing except a new dressing gown and some new underwear/tights, maybe pjs if some of the ones ive got finally give up the ghost but otherwise, i'm saving my money towards a new pair of DMs and a new bag

Bloomed · 12/01/2017 21:02

Thank you for the welcomes! Wine Good to hear I'm in good petite company. I have a couple of jersey dresses which would look OK if I had them altered, if oversized. I need to look into that. I'd like a sweater dress and over knee boots (which would be very different for me) so will see what the sales yield.

queencerulean · 12/01/2017 21:07

Happy birthday one and sleep Cake Flowers
Welcome bloomed
karcheer, that does sound rubbish. Shouldn't they refund you with the original type of payment?
marsha will probably wait for spring here. We're on holiday in April so temps won't be as hot my last couple of summer hols have been so I will probably need a couple of new bits.

shopafrolic · 12/01/2017 21:16

Marsha I'll probably do spring stuff now. We're starting to think about holidays. DH wants to go for two again this year which is awesome. Need to decide where to go in April. When we went to Tenerife the weather was ok but the pools were freezing. Not sure where to try this time. Where do you Voguettes go if you go abroad at Easter?

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 12/01/2017 21:33

shop I am in same position, no hols booked for this year at all, except we will go to PILs in France and my sister is organising a stay in Devon in october. Look forward to seeing what people suggest for abroad!

Blingy hope all is well Flowers

Karcheer that is so annoying, I would insist they give a physical gift card! After all, it was their fault it was out of stock, not like you returned it. Bad service.

One when is moving day?

DH has just made me a hot chocolate, mmm Brew :)

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 12/01/2017 21:41

blair i move saturday/sunday morning depending on how we get on on saturday. if we get finished later than expected, we'll get a hotel for the ngiht and then head down on sunday morning. cat is anxious but she'll be okay, my Dbro is goign to have her for us if we need him to overngiht on saturday and then we'll pick her up and head down tot he cattery, she's going to be a long stay boarder while we save a deposit for our own place rather than us sharing, sharing was only ever a temp plan anyway so it's not changed anything really. we did think we were going to have to have cat PTS as she was diagnosed with tumor with no options but we went for a second opinion and the 2nd vet is absolutely certain that diagnosis is incorrect as he just can't see what the first vet thinks they saw and that everything i told hima nd everything i descrobed indicates that she just had a kdiney infection as she was originally treated for so i'm obviously over the moon at that as i didn't want to go the PTS route. the cattery is happy to have her medium to long term and are experienced and seem like good people so im confident they will take care of her just fine Smile

Longislandicetee · 12/01/2017 21:58

Evening! Much calmer day at hospital without too many visitors. Still in pain but managed to get out of bed and walked.

Shop I had a nosey round your wardrobe and a couple of things struck me. You said no dresses but ds is at school age now, and when I came over to see you, you looked beautiful in the dress you were wearing. I just wonder whether you could chuck a couple of simple dresses like the Breton one into the mix to break things up.

Secondly, if you were going to buy new stuff then plaid top would totally suit you. I agree biker jacket/cardi (even those long ones would look good) and you could also carry off the hooded sleeveless vest over sweater look, when it's not freezing cold.

Third thing that struck me was have you tried doing that thing where you don't wear anything you wore last week/2 weeks as I am not sure your circulating enough or you have things compartmentalised?

One and Sleep hope you have had glorious days!

Bloomed, hello! As that minx Shop hinted, you are indeed taller than meGrin.

Drywhitethanks · 12/01/2017 22:13

No snow here Sad

I think now is good fashion wise now. I've always felt most me in smarter clothes, I struggle with really casual stuff. I really enjoy my work clothes. I often don't feel v me in weekend stuff. I experiment and get compliments, but feel I've tried to hard and just not me. TBH my MU outfit was a bit like that . The outfit I find most difficult is s/c night out......

Bloom I'm 161 .... suit more fitted stuff. I love heels .

Longislandicetee · 12/01/2017 22:24

Dry didn't you wear your mu outfit again?

shopafrolic · 12/01/2017 22:29

Haven't been called a minx for years Blingy Smile bought back some great memories!
You're right about rotating things more. I definitely have some core favourites.
