Shop I know, and I just realised I haven't my Marant cream oversized cardigan for ages either. Argh! Need to do a good hunt, both better be there.

I blame work, as I used to wear them at my old job nearly every day but this one is not so casual so have to wear other Rag&Bone etc instead. Completely forgot until I saw your post

shopafrolic · 03/01/2017 21:16

If you've left them under the desk at your old job I will send you back for them Grin

Karcheer · 03/01/2017 21:49

lib'I think my issue is that I did it 100% the only things in black I had in my wardrobe (until the other day when I got black trousers) were black thick tights, black long Chanel boots and some patent louboutins. Everything's else I'd thrown.
Today I wore my brown Stella McCartney blazer, ivory reiss top, black trousers, black patent loubs, animal (black and brown) print LV scarf and boodles Blossom necklace, Gucci soho Shoulder bag in rose gold, and I actually felt really good.
So I think, mixing autumn with black and maybe grey and navy is the way forward.

BerniceBobsHerHair · 03/01/2017 21:51

Lobster - this blog post may have some suggestions? FWIW I don't think there are any shoe styles you should avoid if you have bigger feet.

When you mentioned your style, a few of my pins came to mind - do any of these appeal, I think they could all be casual wear though they are obviously the smarter end of that.
All black
Again
and again
Slouchy knit
Pheobe Philo
Classic
white trainers
and again
I love this style of shoe
Caroline de maigret
Cropped jeans and boots

Marsha I am back to work tomorrow, not looking forward to it.

Lib wow a splurge. Love the boots and the Hobbs skirt - such a pretty print. The Boden jumper is very apt Smile. Quite tempted by those Me and Em joggers...

Linus pink lego gives me the rage.

Drywhitethanks · 03/01/2017 21:58

Wow loads to catch up on.

Great haul Liberty

Hello Lobster, casual stuff is hard I find, I'm much happier in smart clothes. Loads of great advice here.

Back at work today.....3hrs fire Safety training. Quite bleak. One thing that shocked me was how many smoke/heat detectors you should have in your house. We have one in the hall downstairs and one on the upstairs landing. The trainer said we need one in living room, and he advises in children rooms too because most fires are electrical and kids these days have TVs , straighteners, electronic devices.....electric overload Shock...........sorry it's not fashion related but thought I'd pass it on.

Good to pass info on Dry - I've been a victim of a house fire (flat below us caught fire) - terrifying. I didn't know that either.
Bernice love the Pins.

maradesbois · 03/01/2017 22:34

Hello,

Gosh Dry you've just reminded me that dh took the batteries out of the kitchen smoke alarm as he kept setting it off cooking a rib of beef before the holidays. Have just put them back.

Back home and full of stinking cold, after ds went out to school this morning I went back to bed and slept until midday. Feel too bunged up to care about the sales, all I want is to stay home swathed in a comfy jumper, white co joggers and fluffy slipper boots. Need to get on form for new job next week, is going to be a shock to the system working ft but am excited.

We are a big Lego house too (no pink stuff though). Such a good toy, design is fab and so good for imagination etc. Ds got 5 Star Wars sets for Christmas, all small and medium which he can do on his own but needs help for big sets.

Bernice love the gold brogues, hard stare to dh for his comments! The grenson ones I liked have proper chunky clown flatform, yours are much more elegant.

Stokey whenever I see the hush model in an ad (they always seem to use the same girl) I think of you, seems a brand made for you like MK or R Mouret for Blingy.

Lobster welcome!

queencerulean · 03/01/2017 22:48

Interesting dry as I wanted to put alarms in the dc rooms the other week but dh said it was overkill and we didn't need so many (we do have a few dotted around the hall/stairs).

Great haul lib. The biker boots are gorgeous. They're the ones I ordered the other week but they were the wrong colour for me and too pale. If I'd needed new black ones though I would have got those.

lobster not sure I can offer any more advice. If you want to do trainers, have you tried lots? Some can look smart rather than scruffy and some can make your feet look not as large as others. I tend to live in grey flat boots.

AmberNectarine · 03/01/2017 22:50

I smashed the kitchen one off the ceiling with a potato masher. It used to go off when we made toast. We have one in the hall immediately outside the kitchen so I can sleep easy! DS has made a fire safety plan complete with escape route on the floor plan and assembly point so he's got it under control. It makes me laugh that he thinks I'd just be waiting for him in the front garden in the event of a fire!

Drywhitethanks · 03/01/2017 23:08

The guy said if a fire started in living room with door closed during night, it would take about 30mins for enough smoke to reach our hall detector by which time the smoke would be deadly...........scary stuff. Amber your Dh is sensible......my plan is just jump out of Windows Hmm

OP posts:
Drywhitethanks · 03/01/2017 23:09

That's your DS not DH, although I'm sure he's sensible too Smile

AmberNectarine · 03/01/2017 23:15

He has his moments dry...

So, we heard that our vendors want to move quickly today. Yikes - better instruct a solicitor! Can't believe it's really happening...

Drywhitethanks · 04/01/2017 07:30

So exciting A are you able to sell quickly too?

OP posts:
Longislandicetee · 04/01/2017 07:45

The dcs were in early this morning (good practice for tomorrow I guessHmm) so I have just spent a delightful 15 minutes looking at all the links.

Bernice you always have such a good eye, love the links, especially the first 3 coats. Not sure about the voluminous coat though!Grin

Lib I think your sales splurges have become as legendary as mine! I can see how your purchases are so perfect for you. Not sure about that chunky knit though. I always think you have to look waif like to look good in it. Love to know what you think when you get it. I am mostly disappointed in me&em yet again this season, though I didn't realise they do short layering tops now, so I will get them.

Marsha they might reduce that shirt further so you might want to hold out.

Mara, poor you with the cold. Very excited for your new job though....I have lost track, is this the one paid or puts you on track to a paid job?

Lobster, I work in the City too, and was happy with my work style for a long time, but really struggled with my casual style. I am 5'1", size 6 with boobs, and size 3/3.5 feet. My autumn/winter casual style has gradually become cashmere sweater, or embellished top (a few from j crew), or breton (inspired by Shop) or sparkly top or Desigual top. All crew necked and worn with skinny jeans. I also branched out to plaid shirts inspired by Linus which surprised me by suiting me. I also have a few knitted dresses from Karen Millen and Hobbs. Casual shoes tend to be R&B ballets, converse, biker boots UggsGrin, or Stuart Weizmann lowland boots or various Aquatalia long boots. I don't tend to do trainers as I only ever look scruffy in them, not cool. Hope that helps!

Dry, that fire information stuff is very scary and plenty of food for thought!Flowers

shopafrolic · 04/01/2017 07:58

Last point from me on the fire stuff. If you call your local fire station many will come to your house and do an assessment to tell you where to put smoke detectors etc at no cost. It is also worth considering window locks etc as there is a balance between security and having a quick exit route in case of fire. Well worth a call. After our house fire my then flat mate and I got the fire brigade round to assess our new flat. Very pleased when 2 fit firemen arrived at the door Grin
London - we're going in. Wish me luck people.

littleredlipstick · 04/01/2017 08:33

Good luck for today Shop Grin

shopafrolic · 04/01/2017 08:45

Marsha saw these and thought of you

libertydoddle · 04/01/2017 09:24

Blingy I wish Me&Em would do more dresses again. They seem to be targeting more of a SAHM / weekend wear market rather than people who go to an office. I'm not sure about the cable knit either. I really want a cream / off white, slouchy roll neck and that's the closest I could find. I have an outfit in my head of something like that to wear with my Frame suede skirt and shop's red peacoat.

Dry thanks for passing on the fire advice. Must plan exit routes...

Good luck shop and tell mini shop that mini lib is jealous as she is back to school today - was a flipping effort to get her dressed and fed this morning. She really could do with another day or two off.

DH has a cold and is in a mood - Christmas buzz well and truly past here Sad

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 04/01/2017 14:42

Lib me too. Today I'm wearing a Me+Em ruched dress that I bought a couple of years ago, but have barely worn because it's black, so it's basically brand new! It's so nice. I have 4 of their dresses and would buy more if they hadn't gone all "weekend luxe".

Impressive shopping btw...! Looking forward to hearing verdicts. You know what you might like so well.

Hope you're having a fun day shop and not too knackering.

Still waiting for coat delivery here. Getting impatient!

FedupNagging · 04/01/2017 14:57

Wow, Lib a most excellent haul; wonder how much you'll keep?! Really love the Hobbs jacket, lovely colour.

Bernice I always love your pins and some great looks for Lobster to think about.

I'm channelling this look today with my new French connection jumper (is much longer on me than the model), navy Indi & Cold skinnies and Next metallic chelsea boots.

Waves hello to Lobster, Merriboo nope, not all all jealous and Little red

Marsha Gorgeous silk shirt - there is always something classy about a plain white or cream silk shirt. I have an almost identical cream one from Banana Republic (which cost about £75) but do need to wear a cami underneath.

Mara hope you're feeling a bit better today.

Yesterday's outfit sounded very classy Karcheer. I agree with others, you should wear colours that you like and feel comfortable in; eventually you'll sort out what works best for you.

Everyonelovessparkles · 04/01/2017 15:25

Have a good day Shop. Hope minishop enjoys his visit to hamleys.

Good haul lib. Hope the delivery man isn't your usual one. Grin From what I have gathered about your style, most of it looks very 'you', I guess it just depends on sizing etc

Hope it goes well today at the hospital blingy.

Your outfit yesterday sounded lovely karcheer. Very chic. I agree with the others regarding your colours. You should just wear what makes you feel comfortable as I think when you feel good, it makes you feel more confident.

fedup your OOTD sounds good too. I can see you suiting that look you pinned.

Sage fire safety advice dry. Our smoke alarm rarely goes off except when my parents visit and then it seems to go off every time they make toast. God knows how they manage it. Hmm

Hope you are feeling a bit better mara after a rest. Exciting stuff for next week. Have you decided what you will wear on your first day?!

Has your Burberry trench arrived blair? Is it a keeper?

Welcome to all the newbies. I'm very new to this thread but met lots of the lovely ladies at a MU in November and they are as lovely IRL as on the thread.

Zero fashion news from me. I wore my navy star jumper quite a few times over the Christmas break. I'm really pleased with it! I was looking for a navy skirt to wear it with rather than just a denim skirt so ordered whistles navy suede skirt and whilst it was a lovely skirt, it was just too short for me. I'm also trying to be good this year and not buy for the sake of buying or being attracted by a bargain and have the thought of my birthday ring --and maybe a new kitchen even though that's not very MNV- in mind!

Dreamqueen · 04/01/2017 15:31

Great shopping Lib look forward to reading your verdicts.

Hello Lobster,Merriboo & Red

Hope your day out with miniShop is going well Shop

Wow on your speedy house sale Amber

Loving the sound of your weekend outfits Blingy

Thanks for all smoke/fire advice Dry Grilling anything sets off one of our alarms so don't use the grill anymore.

I'm meeting a friend around Covent Garden tomorrow. Any suggestions please on where to go for lunch(gin)?

justasecond · 04/01/2017 16:33

Happy belated new year to all of you and welcome to lobster, waves to karcheer.
sorry I have been gone so long I was away with dc and dm and df over christmas just got back. Unfortunately dm got seriously ill while we were abroad. It was so scary but she seems to be improving. I felt terrible returning home and leaving her but the dc needed to get back for school. Hopefully she will be well enough to fly back in a couple of weeks.
will be catching up with links and back soon.
In meantime just treated myself to these boots with my birthday money im boots does anyone know if IM boots are generally tts? I'm thinking with cropped straight legs and skinnies?

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 04/01/2017 16:36

Everyone no, it hasn't even been despatched yet! It's frustrating buying from a smallish boutique when I'm used to speedy despatch from big high street stores and the outnet and stuff.

Mara made me think of a question:
What brands/shops would you say are really you?

I would have to say DVF, also Donna Karan (more so, but can't afford any of her stuff (not DKNY)).

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 04/01/2017 16:37

Oh no justa, sorry to hear that and hope your DM is better very soon and can fly Flowers

The boots are gorgeous.
