Karcheer as a misdiagnosed Autumn listen when I say - go and get your colours redone. Sell the Selfridges voucher to pay for it! When HoC diagnosed me correctly I could really see it when I had my best colours on. It doesn't sound as though you can. Get it sorted so you don't keep stressing. Or as Queen says, just ignore the diagnosis completely and wear what the hell you want.

shopafrolic · 02/01/2017 21:54

Perhaps there's a reason she is no longer a consultant Hmm

Larastheme · 02/01/2017 22:06

karcheer maybe book with a fashion consultant at selfridges with the money? I know that they've heavily invested in their personal shopping department and its supposed to be one of the best atm.

Karcheer · 02/01/2017 22:08

shop right now I think I need to find my own way for a bit, I might relook at it, but right now I'm going to just wear what I like.
There are certain colours such as burgundy and black that I've always felt good in, and got compliments, but were no, nos. and other such as Orange and yellows that my mum literally said don't wear those again they really don't suit you.
I've also had my hair highlighted blonder again, the hoc lady had said go darker which I did for two years but the mousey colour looked drab, since having it highlighted in early December I just look like myself again.

AmberNectarine · 02/01/2017 22:11

Where are you based Karcheer. I have a friend who is a HOC consultant and truly excellent.

Karcheer · 02/01/2017 22:14

larastheme really? I used to see them in sept and Feb every year but haven't for years, the last time I went i got the timing all wrong and ended up coming away with £1k of jeans lol! And then didn't use it for awhile, the last time I looked they had started a minimum spend of £2k and I panicked at the thought of all those jeans!!! 👖 👖 👖 👖

Karcheer · 02/01/2017 22:15

amber south bucks.

AmberNectarine · 02/01/2017 22:43

Ah, she's in Devon so may be a bit far. When it's done well, it really adds value, but none of that is as important as feeling like yourself!

shopafrolic · 02/01/2017 23:08

Karcheer still a bit of a distance for you but my HoC lady is based in St Albans. Let me know if you want her details.

Longislandicetee · 03/01/2017 08:09

Karcheer, I am with QueenC, and personally, I would ignore the diagnosis. I also wouldn't go for another one yet. Why don't you just have fun with clothes for a while, maybe not spend so much, experiment with black and other colours and take the stress out of it?

Shop, I snorted at Lara's comment on Hamley's pre Christmas visit. We did this last year (2015). Oh my word. Let's hope it's not as bad after Christmas! I heard that pre Christmas, there were long queues of people waiting to get into the new Lego Store in Leicester Square.Shock hope its calmed down.

shopafrolic · 03/01/2017 08:20

One things for sure Blingy - I won't be queuing to get into any toy shop! Shock

Stokey · 03/01/2017 09:21

I was appalled by how rubbish the quality of Hamley's toys was a couple of years ago. Cheap plastic, no better than Argos. That said, Dd1 would adore the soft toy bit.

Agree with what others have said Karcheer. Wearing what feels right for you is much more important than trying to fit a mould. I'm very casual but still miss having smart clothes sometimes. It's like there's a whole persona you don't get to indulge.

In fashion news I've bought a Katherine Hammett Choose Love t-shirt as recommended by Ujjayi who used to be on here. She's given the rights to the logo to a charity for refugees, and it will remind me of Wham!

Merriboo · 03/01/2017 09:24

Belated happy New Year my lovely Voguettes!
I'm in val d'Isere, lack of snow in resort but glorious sun on piste 😄 OH managed to hurt his leg before we came away which has put a dampener on things as he can't ski but still enjoying the time away- though I'm more of an all the gear and no idea skier!!
Tried on a parajumpers angie coat yesterday and keep thinking it would make a great winter parka- don't know how it compares to brands I'm more familiar with such as woolrich or canada goose but was in the same price range.

Larastheme · 03/01/2017 09:29

karcheer, I have no idea about the minimum spend policy.
I agree just buy what you feel great in,listen to what your DH say for example, maybe he is right and you look better in black than browns.
What brands do like? Is there a place you walk into and just know its meant for you?

shop your DS is still too young for starwars Lego, but we've found out that the toy section at harrods had a nicer selection, even dh and his friend were more excited about it than the dcs, we were a group of 4 kids and 4 adults and the kids all agreed that harrods toy store was the best, the kids cafe at the fourth floor is actually not bad either or maybe because we were all so hungry we didnt even notice Hmm

queencerulean · 03/01/2017 09:34

So glad we're not back at school/work today. Dc are knackered so allowing them screen time all morning to chill.

I've started reading Inside Vogue. It's not the greatest written book but it gives a fascinating insight into vogue and the fashion world. Would definitely recommend.

Im going to sort out my wardrobe today as there's a few bits that I haven't worn yet this winter so either need to restyle or get rid. Im already feeling slightly anxious that I've said it'll be a no spend January but like my booze/sugar intake, I need to reset myself after splurging so much last month. Meanwhile, I'll await blingy and ambers clear outs Grin. I'm also going through my pin boards and creating a new board for how I'd like to look in 2017

So, amber and one have impending house moves, mara has a new job...anyone else got anything big or exciting this year? We've got a big holiday in April which was booked 11 months ago but I finally can start getting excited now!

kittyhello · 03/01/2017 10:03

Lovely to hear your plans queen I'm having a clear out too, nothing that you'd guys would want, am really trying to pare down my look and getting rid of anything that doesn't go. I'm also willing to spend more on what I think are classic items.

We too have a big holiday in August and I'm starting to buy and look at summer clothing, will focus on accessories.

Karcheer some good advice on this thread as per, I haven't had my colours down or had a style day, I did ago through a phase 2 years ago thinking that I shouldn't really wear black on my top half but I'm a suck for an all black outfit.

Happy new year to you too Merriboo hope you're having a great time on the slopes.

I have to say Hamley's is my idea of hell at any time of the year, it makes me feel a bit claustrophobic and talk about stimulation overload, saying that I also hate Toys R us Grin give me a small independent toy shop any day.

Red I'll ask dc if they've heard of those people, it's Minecraft central in this house.

libertydoddle · 03/01/2017 10:23

I'm relocating to the other side of the world QueenC (gulps)

Was supposed to do some work from home today but the place looks like a bomb has hit it between unpacked bags and new toys everywhere. Going to tidy and sort instead.

Merriboo enjoy the slopes. No idea about that coat.

Kitty I'm with you on the independent toy shops. We have one near us, great selection and prices compare well to the big chains.

queencerulean · 03/01/2017 10:29

Oh my goodness lib, I forgot about that. Are there any firm plans in place yet? Must make sure we have a leaving meet up!

libertydoddle · 03/01/2017 10:42

Firm (ish)...One of my tasks this week is to start the process to apply for my visa. Once I have that we have to use it within 12 months. Have to sell house and currency values will influence things too but we want to go - can't hang around forever waiting for the perfect moment.

Lobster12345 · 03/01/2017 13:04

Hi everyone. Can I join you all? I've got my work clothes sorted but really struggling to do casual so am hoping that by joining in I can be inspired by you all. Am new to Mumsnet ( found this thread when googling for bag reviews) so if this is a private thing, feel free to tell me to butt out!

queencerulean · 03/01/2017 13:08

Welcome lobster. Newbies are always welcome, whatever your budget and style Smile. What sort of styles do you like?

shopafrolic · 03/01/2017 13:15

Not private at all. All welcome Lobster Smile Tell us more about yourself / your style.
Might hit Harrods as well then (love it there and can get Rewards). I am dreading Hamleys but a promise is a promise. ToysRUs brings me out in hives like soft play places so I'm not feeling hopeful. Grin
Need to visit Maria Tash in Liberty too to find out more about piercing prices.
Lib don't go!!!!!!
QueenC I feel in need of a sort out too. May sit DS down for a movie and do an hour or so. I've got Inside Vogue to read from my birthday - I just never find the time for books - hoping to read more this year.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 03/01/2017 14:40

Hello all

First day back at work :( back on the healthy eating, and I went for a lunchtime walk - starting as I mean to go on!

Sales shopping is starting to arrive. This belt has come, and I also ordered a cashmere cropped cardigan from Boden (remember Amber recommending these a while back). No sign of the coat but I can't stop myself getting all excited.

Lots of exciting things in the pipeline for Voguettes! I don't even have any holidays booked...

Hi Lobster, welcome! I feel your pain as I was the same for a long time, but now I'm getting there with my casual wardrobe.

Ooh shop what piercing are you getting?

Sounds fun merriboo!

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 03/01/2017 15:04

what piercing are you thinking of getting shop? i might be able to advise a little depending on what you want, i have a few piercings myself Smile

BIL is in the front room painting, he and my Dsis conspired to offer for him to do as much of the painting as he can get done in 3 days and we were more than happy to take them up on the offer, any help is appreciated at this stage tbh. 12 days and counting til we drive away from this place!!

no fashion news to report, i haven't seen anything at all i want to buy but ihave decided that i'm going to start myself a bag fund and buy myself something lovely when a) i have saved enough and b) i have decided what lovely thing i want to carry around

Hi and welcome lobster do tell us a bit more about yourself. all budgets and styles are welcome here, we aren't snobby at all Smile

lib i can't believe this is the year you are going!! we definitely need a big MU before you go to send you off!

BerniceBobsHerHair · 03/01/2017 15:11

our day sounds very similar to your QueenC - all back to work / school tomorrow which will be painful.

Love Lara's description of Hamleys Grin

I like that belt Blair. Lunchtime walk sounds good. I like Boden cashmere too, can see you in the cropped cardigan style.

Meriboo jealous, sounds fab.

Lobester welcome - what kind of casual style do you like? What is your work style like? Lots of my clothes are interchangeable for work or casual.

Lib exciting and scary!!!! I am often tempted to do similar but think it is more of a pipe dream for me.

Littlered welcome too. The world of you tube is a mystery to me though I am currently listening to Careless whisper on it

I've found a few things in the sales:
Gold brogues really like these even though DH has dubbed them 'clown shoes' Hmm.

More M&S shoes
Leopard coat though I'm not sure if I will keep it.
Finery skirt

I've also ordered the Hush jumpsuit you are also comsidering Stokey - though it is in stock in all sizes and their sale starts tonight - so I may re-order and send this one back (hasn't arrived yet)
