Lipstick challenge for January

Don't worry, its not a 'thing' - you don't have to post photos on Facebook or get sponsorship for charity. Just something I'm planning to brighten up a dull January

The idea is that you wear a different lipstick / lipgloss every day through January. I'm planning to stick all of mine in a big box and do a 'lucky dip' every morning. It will be a bit of fun (in a slightly pathetic way) and will be interesting to see which lipsticks I get excited about pulling out and which I'm maybe not that fond of anymore

Sephora! I travel to the US a fair bit for work so often pick up something nice there that I can't get at home. Though they deliver to the UK now. enabling face

Notthrowaway I would consider 5 lipsticks to be the amount I'd take if I was to be incarcerated, basically the minimum of the minimum! 😂

buster I agree. I have 5 about my person right now! 1 pocket, 4 handbag and prob 3 in car! And 2 in locker at work.

Today I am wearing Nars Velvet Lip Glide in Unspeakable. A lovely burgundy colour which matches my dress. I have dry lips and these Velvet lip guides are the business. Creamy, moisturising and goo staying power.

I'm wearing a thin, sheer coat of it because I don't want to scare the horses.

Gazpacho I think is a keeper, btw. It definitely doesn't go perfectly with the bright green sweatshirt I'm wearing (this is what happens when I do the lucky dip after getting dressed), but it's a very cheering shade. Will look great with navy, I suspect.

I really like orange reds with bright greens and bright reds with bright blues.

Gutted now leedy, zero access to Sephora why on earth do they not open stores here?!

Nyx Butter Lipstick in Mary Janes today. Nice deep warmish-to-true red that suits me very well, good staying power, slightly glossy, though I suspect I have a lot of similar colours and the bullet has gone a bit wobbly in the case. May go if I find dupes in the bag.

Bobbi Brown Bikini Pink here. Nice colour but not very long lasting or hydrating. Disappointing for £20

I've been wearing a lot of reds recently, all by Revlon! So, the weekend saw me in Ravish Me Red (not sure about the name but it's one they brought back from the olden days,) then I wore Love That Red, then Certainly Red. Monday I wore Revlon Red, Tuesday I wore Fire & Ice, Wednesday I had a break from Revlon's reds and wore NYX Haze which is a dark grey. (Friday and Saturday are already planned, more Revlon! I'm going for Kiss Me Coral then Siren.) Today I'm staying indoors, so it could be anything, or nothing. I like unusual lipstick colours, I walk around smirking because I have this crazy stuff on my face!

Today I'm wearing Smashbox Get Fired. It's a creamy red with a hint of gold particles in it. I prefer the mattes but it is lovely.

Sapphire I'm like you, I wear some really dark or really bright lipsticks and I love to see my friends reactions, it's like and I just love it as they don't say anything and I know they hate it sitting there in their nude glosses and MLBB shades! Lol. I love Revlon fire and ice, so old school yet surprisingly new and fresh too!

Right, I'm wearing Cherries In The Snow today, even if I am just mooching about in my dressing gown all day! It's nice to see Revlon getting some love on here, they are amazing! 💜 Other shades I recommend if you like loud colours are Cherry Blossom, Wild Orchid and Fuchsia Fusion, though you can only get FF online as they never released it in the UK! (I have a LOT of Revlon lipsticks, and two of the ones I mentioned in my last post are US only shades.)

Love Cherries in the Snow too Thanks for the recommendations Sapphire. I think Revlon lipsticks are so underrated and way better than MAC which is nearly twice the price. Not a fan of the Lip Butters at all though - weirdly drying for a product with 'butter' in the name!

The lipbutters are a bit crap, too sheer, too slippery and a bit itchy if that makes sense?!?

I must revisit the Revlon stand (also Sali Hughes rec'd some of their reds in Pretty Iconic). Not a big lip butter fan either (and I'm normally a fan of tinted balms), I liked a couple of the colours, but yes, there's something I'm not mad about about the texture.

Today's lucky dip is Clinique Icon Pop, which is a dark winey-red matte. Great colour, very comfortable, doesn't come off on everything. LOVE.

(I'm beginning to think I much prefer mattes for very strong colours, I have, er, substantial lips, so gloss AND in your face colour can look a bit HELLO HERE IS MY MOUTH. Plus mattes tend to be less ... goopy)

leedy, your lipstick sounds great. Those are all the things I look for in a lipstick. I will be chucking out some lipsticks after this month so I will have to investigate Clinique

Left I get a bit obsessed with Matte lipsticks. There is just something about them I love. My fav is Smashbox Plum Role. Here's a picture of it, it's not me btw!
