Lipstick challenge for January

Don't worry, its not a 'thing' - you don't have to post photos on Facebook or get sponsorship for charity. Just something I'm planning to brighten up a dull January

The idea is that you wear a different lipstick / lipgloss every day through January. I'm planning to stick all of mine in a big box and do a 'lucky dip' every morning. It will be a bit of fun (in a slightly pathetic way) and will be interesting to see which lipsticks I get excited about pulling out and which I'm maybe not that fond of anymore

No, put it back! If something smells or feels 'off' it gets chucked. I do the same checks I do with food, more or less, (I don't taste it, that would be weird!) Though I've found out keeping lipstick in the fridge will prolong their life, which makes perfect sense!

I tried NYX Black Onyx today as it's been a while. . It's lovely and shiny and has tiny shimmers in it, but it's actually quite sheer. I'm wondering if I can make it work with a black pencil or liquid lipstick underneath, or whether it's too much hassle and I should get rid.

Today - Chanel Rouge Allure Exaltation - muted coral. It's a good colour for me but it made my lips look and feel so, so dry. Chucked!

Sapphire could you wear the black onyx over a blood red, like a Chanel rouge noir shade? That could look good? Or not! 😂

Beauty Bay sell LA Girl, they have a matte liquid lipstick that's dark purple, that might work... (Chanel, moi? Ha!)

I'm trying not to spend too much money this month, my favourite band are finally coming to the UK after years, and tickets are going on sale on Friday! I've already seen them once, but this time I'm doing it all by myself. And I quite fancy the idea of staying in a hotel overnight, I just about got the last train home when I last saw them, I do not want to be stuck at King's Cross overnight!

Also, as the lipstick in question is rather glossy it needs something underneath that isn't going to move around. Hmm, I shall play around and get back to you. Nice idea Buster!

Sapphire I didn't for one minute mean buy Chanel! 😂 I meant similar like a dark black cherry shade and that's the only colour I could think of, I actually mean the shade of the rouge noir nail polish. Like a red almost black. I think your best bet is a lip liner and fill in your whole lips or a chunky mat lipstick. I bet it'll look really nice like a two tone effect.

I know, but I also know they do a Rouge Noir lipstick... (And I wanted to blab about my happy thing, they announced it yesterday and I'm so happy! ) Anyway, back on topic...

I don't use lip liner, but I've got a plummy purple eye liner, or a black one, which kind of defeats the purpose of a two tone effect. Or there's the cobalt blue one I have. I think that would end up a nice navy colour.

Sapphire who's your fav band, if you don't mind me asking! I'm curious! Try the blue! That'll look good.

Today I'm wearing a Pupa I'm mat lip fluid in coral paradise. I've had it a while and I've rediscovered the joy of it. The rest of my make up is parred down as it's quite thick and bright.

Evanescence. I've been a huge fan since I was fourteen.

I'm loving revlon ultra HD matte lip colour in red colour (no name) today. Feels lovely and great bright colour. I love look of essence lipsticks. DM will be dispatched to wilko asap. None near me!

I've been AWOL but have been lipsticking religiously. I've found that I feel best with dark lips too. Am sorely tempted by Rouge Noir, has lots of similar colours, but not exactly < tries to justify yet another lippy>

Bobby Brown Tawny: a lovely feeling dark brownish berry
Mac Paramount a browny rouge noir
Mac Lust a nude/pink gloss

Tarte butter lipstick in Tulip today. Very nice rosy reddish-pink, smells minty, feels lovely. Keep!

Yesterday was the unappealingly named & Other Stories Pointelle Flesh - sheer pinky-nude, gorgeous texture, quite flattering for a nude, but I think still possibly a bit pale on me unless I wear shedloads of other makeup. On the "maybe" bench. Once I've got rid of more lipsticks I'll investigate more of their colours, as they're not super expensive and the quality of this one is great.

Cathy Rouge Noir is a strange kettle of fish, its auberginey browny reddy with a touch of metallic! I was a bit disappointed tbh!

Lip picture! This is after about an hour's wear and the best I could do with terrible lighting. It WAS sunny this morning. I've got some other MUA eye liner pencils that are going to end up as lip liners, as they are completely useless as eye liner! But as lip liner this one is really good, the ingredients have beeswax and cocoa butter in them and don't feel drying at all.

Omg! Sapphire I love it, if that was a purple I'd rock it, or if it was a big rock type of night I'd wear it. I saw Nine Inch Nails 2 years ago, that would've been a good look for the occasion!

I'll try the purple eye pencil with it tomorrow and see what that does, I also have metallic dark green and metallic turquoise. When I go into town tomorrow I'll take a look at their other pencils. They're only £1 each. This is fun! (I have no idea what to wear, but it's six months away so I have plenty of time to decide! Rock on!)

I've experimented with a few lippies from my stash -

Kiko Gossamer 101 - a pale nude, probably too pale on me, but feels lovely and fit for a 1960s movie star. When I wear something else, some of this dotted on my lower lip makes my lips look fuller.

NYX Tea Rose - the perfect matte MLBB. Feels neutral on, neither very dry nor lusciously moisturizing.

NYX Bloody Mary - a velvety matte true red, fab looking but slightly drying and eventually ouchy to wear. Faint chemical smell.

Artdeco Perfect Color 85 Pink Expression -a pure, cool muted wild rose petal pink, something that I pick when I want a soothing formula and just a hint of pure color.

I'm not sure which lipstick to wear tomorrow, I have 2 new ones, both dark and glamorous.

These 2 baby's, my new Pupa Pompous Bordeaux and Burgundy Poppy. I'm getting a bit obsessed with Pupa, I need to put the brakes on and stop going in the shop! I've never used it before and the quality is amazing and I think the price is really really good.

They don't look so opaque on the hand but believe me on the lips with a liner underneath they are truly stunning. I'm off out for a drink tomorrow night so no doubt one of these will have their first outing along with the eyeshadow palette I bought in the week! 😍

Ooh, they're pretty! Will take a picture of my lip combination after I get ready to go out. I'm having a lazy day, and know I need to go and buy stuff, but there's no rush...
