Continuing from the previous thread. It's always so lovely to see new posters come and talk perfume. Everyone is welcome. Come and tell us your SOTD ( scent of the day) or ask us anything perfumey. Someone will know the answer! Get stuck in and get sniffing. You'll find no snobbery here!

Now that it's settled on my skin, I am happy to say that it's sweetly warm and frankincense. Nice to be wrong.

PinkiePiesCupcakes Yardley April Violets smells just like parma violets.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow & LittleBlueRidingBoot
Thanks for the suggestion, I've just come home from the city with a bottle of Yardley April Violets, only a small one, reduced to £6.95

Grin
Badders123 · 04/11/2016 12:44

When I was a child I thought yardley and bronnley were the height of sophistication Smile
I wore yardley lace and white satin as a teen - liked both
Also laimant by coty

I can still remember the first perfume that I got for Christmas - I was about four and I was so excited. I don't know what it was called, but it was in a long thin fancy bottle, clasped by a tall black velveteen cat ornament wearing a jewelled collar. If I close my eyes and concentrate hard I can almost smell it!

teachergirl I love Eden - I can't understand why everyone isn't wearing it Grin

SOTD is PP Blue Sapphire which I think I like... it keeps changing as it dries and fades so I have just respritzed. I'm finding it hard to describe though - maybe I will have got my head round it later!

Looking forward to finding out what happened to Baroness at the office today!

ThirtySixViewsOfMountFuji · 04/11/2016 13:35

Cat perfume above was Avon (of course Grin)

VintagePerfumista · 04/11/2016 13:49

I remember being given Heaven Sent and Apple Blossom as a child, I think by my Gran's next door neighbour. My first perfume for me was Pretty Peach by Avon and I was the envy of the school when my Mum's US penfriend sent me a snowman brooch with that solid Avon perfume inside.

MontanaSkies · 04/11/2016 15:12

Can I join you beautifully scented people? I don't have anyone to chat to IRL who understands the extent of my perfume obsession. Grin

SOTD is Chanel 19 edp, my no-brainer scent of choice. I don't understand why it's seen as cold and austere. It feels comforting to me.

hollinhurst84, I wore Rossy De palma on my wedding day! I now eke it out hoping to preserve the memories!

Madamfrog · 04/11/2016 15:24

Serge Lutens: Five O'Clock au Gingembre, delicious all year but especially in autumn.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 04/11/2016 15:25

Another SL here: ambre sultan

ThirtySixViewsOfMountFuji · 04/11/2016 16:34

Ah yes - the solid perfume brooches Vintage... genius! Grin

swimster01 · 04/11/2016 16:43

I remember the Avon daisy brooch - used to love that

Badders123 · 04/11/2016 16:45

Avon was my first perfume too Smile
Timeless, sacha, soft musk, nightmusk....
I loved the way they would put perfume in glass decanters in the shape of really random stuff Grin
Galleon, lamp, flamenco dancer....

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 04/11/2016 16:46

Oooh vintage I'd have been well jealous of your brooch. My first perfume was Exclamation. Apparently I was making a statement without saying a word. My school reports don't agree.

I have Five o clock au gingembre to try tomorrow madamfrog. Can't wait. Today has been shitty with trying to get DSs medication, physio and 'computer says no' from local pharmacy. Just want Wine and Cake and fire. And to hope that tomorrow will be better.

VintagePerfumista · 04/11/2016 16:54

Badders- the random objects are fab aren't they? My friend is madly buying up carriages, lamps, umbrellas, animals and god knows what else, all with Avon perfume inside!

And I had a shoe pomander.

I think I'd like some pomanders again.

Hope tomorrow is a better day Pinkie Flowers

Badders123 · 04/11/2016 16:58

Oh! Shoe pomander! I had a fan Smile

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 04/11/2016 17:04

i had a swan and egg on a little stand. ive still got those two somewhere Grin

no SOTD today as yet as ive been hot and sticky doing housework and washing

VintagePerfumista · 04/11/2016 17:09

Montana, I think it's the hit of green sharpness at the beginning that make people think it's austere. It's my all time favourite I think. I was reading an old page last night about "greens" and now of course want to try all the ones I haven't!

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 04/11/2016 17:19

My truth or dare and my pp order came. Truth or dare... Mmm I don't think it's me. It's just too flowery for me, so if anyone wants a sample bottle PM me (I've got 12, I'll keep three).i know dh will hate it.
The pp ones, well the portrait is close, but there's just an edge to it stopping it being on the money. So far the Oud Ispahan has a medicinal bite to it instead of that lovely Oud finish. The Kelly caleche, well I've not smelt the original, but it's reminding me of something from my youth, but I don't know what.think dd will like it, it's a bit soapy a bit green. Wish I'd gone for the vol de nuit.
Best have a scrub, smell like a tarts boudoir.

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 04/11/2016 18:08

Thanks vintage. I had this. I thought I was so chic. This memory made me chuckle. Bet my mum still has it!

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 04/11/2016 18:37

OWF is it the original or the naked version you have the samples of? if its the original, could i trouble you for some? if its the naked i wont as i have a bottle of that already Smile

ThirtySixViewsOfMountFuji · 04/11/2016 18:41

Sending best wishes to you and your DS PinkiePie and I hope things are better tomorrow too Flowers

I think I was mistaken about my Avon perfume; I'm fairly sure it was this...

No one would teach me how to read before I started school and I couldn't start till I was four and a half, so I must have just presumed it was Avon as that was the sum total of my toiletry experience. Max Factor, very swanky!

Lovely, friendly perfume thread continued- Come and discuss all your fragrant foibles!
OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 04/11/2016 18:49

Oh I so wanted that, Max factor indeed.
I'll send you some One, yep original. Think Ive still got your address (not for much longer eh?)
I had pretty peach, with the peach bum lid. Did anyone have Miss Lollipop Lip Pop? Like a cheerleader with a mirror as her hat.

PinkiePiesCupcakes · 04/11/2016 19:30

My perfume came from the Fragrance shop. Yay! But.... But.... Noooo....
In the box were two little samples, a Diesel Bad one that isn't nice, smells like chemicals and old spice had a party, got sick drinking petrol and committed into a bottle. There was also a Valentino Donna sample... Omg its gorgeous, like really nice and hard to describe. It costs muchos deniro though :(

I consoled my self with the Insolence though, lovely it is, violety and lovely.
Grin

MontanaSkies · 04/11/2016 21:15

Thanks for the link vintage. Think I'm a galbanum fan then. I also own the Margiela 'untitled' in the pic. I've been wanting to sniff Vent Vert for ages (not least because I love the name) ; this has just reminded me!
