Continuing from the previous thread. It's always so lovely to see new posters come and talk perfume. Everyone is welcome. Come and tell us your SOTD ( scent of the day) or ask us anything perfumey. Someone will know the answer! Get stuck in and get sniffing. You'll find no snobbery here!

Somewhere in the Nordics Baroness. Wrapped up in Coromandel and swathes of sweaters.

I like Diorissimo too.

VintagePerfumista · 06/11/2016 15:45

I went for Blue Grass as it was the first spray I grabbed and my Diorella is in a splash and I was about to eat chocolate cake which I didn't want scented. Grin

You might like Diorella, Baroness- it's got a touch of the skanky-pant thing about it which we all love!

I feel it my honour bound duty to remind you all that allbeauty have 50% of ALL 50ml fragrances until midnight. (I am working my way through the notes of the Burberries to see if there's one dd might like from Santa)

VintagePerfumista · 06/11/2016 15:48

she will get Aquoina pink sugar over my dead body though

user1471503992 · 06/11/2016 16:10

I ordered a sample of Coromandel from an Etsy seller 2 weeks ago and it still hasn't arrivedSad. I've messaged the seller and no reply either. She has loads of things I haven't tried yet but now I won't be ordering any others. Can anyone recommend anywhere else I can try Chanel Exclusifs samples, please?

ThirtySixViewsOfMountFuji · 06/11/2016 16:12

I'm glad we don't all like the same perfumes - how boring that would be! However, I do have that envious 'lemming' urge to try all the fragrances that are being enthused about here...

Following on from Vintage's observation about Portrait of a Lady, I think that we should all converge from the four corners of the globe at King's Cross, where we would recognise other undercover perfumistas by scent alone! It would be a very secret sign Wink

I will be passing on my PP Black Orcheeds to DD as I love the dry down, but the initial fruitiness gives me a Body Shop like headache. I wasn't so taken with the genuine stuff either, but at least I've tried it and that was the point!

SOTD is PP Cafe Rose (again) which is still nice, but doesn't measure up to some of the other roses I've tried recently, so won't be a repurchase (and no coffee detected at all - how disappointing Sad ).

VintagePerfumista · 06/11/2016 16:18

Is it the etsy seller I recommended User? If so, I recall that she only posted on 2 days of the week, so you may have missed her postage days which may explain the delay? In Scotland?

There is one miniature that I can see on ebay?

user1471503992 · 06/11/2016 16:21

How do I make names bold? ThirtySix, I only want to try Coromandel because everyone raved about it, so I'm definitely a lemming! I also have samples of Lipstick Rose, POAL and L'air Du Desert Marocaine for the same reason - but I love LADDM and like the other two so it's worked out for me so far! I only tried POAL again thanks to aforementioned lemmingness of this thread and I got on with it much better when applied very sparingly.

user1471503992 · 06/11/2016 16:24

Yes, Vintage, that might explain the week's delay before it was dispatched but not sure why it's taken a week since dispatch either - I asked her what service she used and haven't had an answer. Maybe she only checks her account twice a week then and hasn't seen the message.

ThirtySixViewsOfMountFuji · 06/11/2016 16:33

Scroll down to the bottom of the page user and all will be revealed!

I am getting pretty desperate to try LADDM & POAL but I seem to have spent quite a lot on perfumes recently (no big single amounts, but lots of samples or copies or bargain stuff), so I'm trying to rein myself in Sad - at least till after Christmas (maybe!)

NotAMammy · 06/11/2016 19:26

Hello. I'm not great at perfumes but I smelt La Labo Santal 33 the other day and would quite like it as an (inexpensive) candle. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Also, I really like citrusy or light floral scents and am currently using Hugo Boss Ma Vie - any suggestions what I'd like as a more wintery smell?

NotAMammy · 06/11/2016 19:29

User I don't know where you're based but Fenwicks Newcastle stock les Exclusives. Sometimes I go and have a sniff as I love one, I think it's Gardenia but they are hella expensive!

Madamfrog · 06/11/2016 22:02

NotAMammy, you might like Eau d'Hadrien or Les Nuits d'Hadrien from Annick Goutal. I prefer the latter, but both are lovely.

NotAMammy · 06/11/2016 22:24

Thanks MadamFrog. Do you know where would be best to smell them? Is there somewhere reputable to get samples from or do any of the department stores stock them? I've never heard of Annick Goutal before!

user1471503992 · 06/11/2016 22:42

Thanks NotAMammy, but I'm in Scotland -nearest shop to me with them is Glasgow and I'm never through there. The daft thing is that I'm not even fond of Chanel regular perfumes, just everyone says these are amazing. Would it be worth a trip?

user1471503992 · 06/11/2016 22:42

ThirtySix like this?

user1471503992 · 06/11/2016 22:43

Yes!

NotAMammy · 06/11/2016 22:49

I don't know if I'm the best one to recommend, I'm a bit of a perfume philistine, but I wouldn't go massively out of my way for them. Maybe just have a lovely day out at some point in the future and factor in sniffing time.

Judydreamsofhorses · 06/11/2016 23:00

SOTD here is Heeley Cardinal. Yesterday was NR For Her.

madmomma · 06/11/2016 23:11

If I like these:

Tom ford cafe rose,
Narciso Rodriguez for her,
Guerlain pampelune,
Hugo boss red,
Jo Malone nectarine & honey blossom
La prairie silver rain
Hermes apres le mousson
Burberry body

What do I need to try next please?

ThirtySixViewsOfMountFuji · 06/11/2016 23:20

Well done user ! I'm a recent MN convert myself so I understand the joy of creating your first bold/strikeout/emoticon Grin

Cockblocktopus · 07/11/2016 00:50

SOTD is Sycomore again.

love it. It starts out a bit difficult on me tbh but I still think it's amazing.

BaronessBomburst · 07/11/2016 01:02

The etsy seller in Scotland took nearly two weeks to dispatch my order, and as I'm overseas it's still not here yet. It'll get here though.
Pffffft.

I've seen LADDM on eBay. And Coromandel and other exclusifs from our previously mentioned light fingered Russian seller. Etsy was cheaper though, and she had Guerlain too.

BaronessBomburst · 07/11/2016 01:08

Oh, SOTD was Jill Sander Sun pre-shower to confirm I still hate it, and vintage Arpege afterwards which, as it's an EDT, I treat like a body spray.

I've not worn it in weeks and it was a joy to sniff again. I sprayed my wet hair too. It's still gorgeous. Smile

Madamfrog · 07/11/2016 11:08

NotAMammy, I looked at the site (www.annickgoutal.com) and they say Frasers Buchanan st Glasgow, or Fenwick in Newcastle, if you ask on the site they might send samples. They also do florals but I don't know them.

Madamfrog · 07/11/2016 11:11

Oh, sorry NotAMammy, it isn't you who are in Scotland - for England there are quite a lot of stockists, look at the site. I'm in France so I can't really recommend somewhere in the UK.
